If the Cavs just coasted and were content with coasting...Why did Blatt get fired after those two losses to the Warriors (for all intents and purposes, the Cavs were comfortably in control of the 1 seed in the East)?

I answered that earlier.

And yet, I see Cavs "fans" using the finals performance from last year as evidence that the Cavs will beat the Warriors. All year long...Delly is the Steph stopper.. Kyrie had two blocks on steph, thus Kyrie is gonna shut down Steph...etc..

I can't speak for others. Of course Cavs fans do it too. A lot of fans do. I'm not that guy.

I love this. The Thunder played the Warriors as well as anyone could, unless you think that a team that feature All World Stopper Kevin Love can slow them down nearly as well or a team featuring JR Fuckball can somehow outscore them, and still lost. The same Thunder that ran the Spurs, widely considered as the second best team this year, out of the gym. But what they almost did is the part that counts?

Twist it bruh.

And the Cavs "feature" JR Smith?

As much as I hate GS, I want to see Lebron lose. I want to see the city of Cleveland continue to suffer. No city that vilified him to such a degree when he left and was eager to gag on him when he returned deserves to win a championship.

Plus, I don't see them continuing to rain down threes. Much like last year, JR is gonna choke on those open shots.

As much as I dislike the GSW bandwagon fanbase.

I dislike build-a-teams like the Cavs more.

go GSW, and LeBron should go back to miami.. hangout with his retirement club

Cavs Ran the Spurs out of the gym when they last played in the regular season too....

Clearly you havent watched JR Smith play all post season this year to still give him that label. Hes played well within himself and around what ever the team asks of him.

Even Kevin Love has been playing extremely motivated defense, and defense isnt just one on one guarding, but team defense and how well they get boards which yes. Kevin Love is an All World rebounder.

all teams are build a teams. They(The Warriors) acquired bogut via trade, drafted Barnes and Green, Thompson and Curry, Iguodola via trade

The Cavs Drafted, Thompson, Irving, Acquired guys via trade in shump,Smith and Love, and Added Lebron via Free Agency.. lol

The Warriors looked tired to me against Oklahoma City. And Curry was definitely not himself, for whatever reason, in games 3 and 4.

But then the Warriors won three in a row and ripped the Thunders' collective hearts out of their bodies. The Warriors are tough. The Warriors are a basketball nightmare.

I think an interesting point of discussion is the matchup question. The Warriors, after all, discovered the Death Lineup against the Cavs in last year's finals that they used to win 73 games.

So, the Cavs usual starting 5 is:

Irving
Smith
James
Love
Thompson

And the Warriors will go with:

Curry
Thompson
Iguodala
Green
Bogut

This is going to be very different from last year's finals, where the Cavs didn't have Irving or Love. They played Delavadova a lot, and he actually put defensive pressure on Curry. But Curry probably isn't going to see him much at all this series.

The Cavs also went with Thompson and Mozgov a lot together, and I don't know if we'll see that as much. One question I have is, can the Warriors go small from the start against this lineup? Or do they need Bogut in the lane to help with Lebron? If the Cavs start Thompson, do you put Green on Love?

LeBron's gonna do some heavy retooling if he loses this series. If he can't shuffle another super team in Cleveland (trading Love and maybe Kyrie too), he'll leave and build elsewhere.

I really want Golden State to win just to see the shit he pulls this offseason.

meh, i feel like lebron looks relaxed while steph looks tired. steph is probably up all night partying while lebrong is a family man.

I don't know if you've noticed or not but I don't really give a shit about stats. Only stats that really matter are the final scores in the next 4-7 games that haven't been played yet.

Man, I'm going to have to lurk in this thread through the Finals. I'm already getting emotional and we haven't even started yet.

I really wish some of you could understand what it's like to be a Cleveland fan in this situation. I wouldn't wish this curse on my worst enemy but if you could only understand.

I'm not saying you can't root against us, or root for your team, or say whatever. Just. Well, when things get heated please understand why we behave like we will. There are some things you just can't understand.

I'm a Pacers fan. There's a good chance my team will never win a title.

Lol. Not every team is like the Lakers who can get away with getting Pau Gasol for a bag of potato chips. Or the Thunder who can get away with lucky tanking and getting top draft picks in short amount of time. If your franchise can't build a great team around you, will you just stick with it? I really don't see what's wrong with wanting something better lol.

I would think an all world rebounder would be able to average at least 10 boards a game in the playoffs.

If the Cavs scouted better they wouldn't have traded for Kevin Love. Or drafted Anthony Bennett first overall.

Thats not how building basketball rosters even work. lol. Every successful team puts players together from various pieces, and free agency and trades in basketball have a way larger impact on a team than any other professional sport. Also you may want to look back at that Anthony Bennett draft. there isnt anyone even in the top ten that has made any significant impact in the NBA other than CJ Mcollum at #10 who just won the MIP Award.

Hes had a double double in 9 out of 14 games in the playoffs... Also in six games vs toronto he didnt even have to rebound often most games were blowouts.

He is averaging 9.6 rebounds a game stop splitting hairs lmao.

One thing scary about GSW is that they can cut a double digit lead by a couple of threes in a few minutes if the Splash brothers are fired up.

GSW in 5 if they manage to snatch a win at Cleveland, or it would be GSW in 7.

really bummed OKC is out of it. Wish there was a way two western conference teams could play in the finals and just have GS and OKC go at it again. there's no way Cleveland can play consistently solid D over a 4-7 game stretch. They need Kyrie and K-Love to play lights out every game and that ain't happening

Rodman, Barkley were all world rebounders. Love is good not great.

Well he is a starter and the 4th option on the team, that makes him like Iggy or Barnes on the Warriors.

So regular season means something now? I thought the Cavs just coasted and anything that happened then didn't mean anything, but since it does let me remind you that the Warriors beat the fuck out the Cavs by over 30 points in January and it wasn't even that close.

JR Smith is the siren song of shit NBA players, he makes you believe he isn't detrimental to his team right up until he doesn't and your ship hits a rock. Kevin Love is in the running for worst defender in the NBA.

Lol. Seriously? Kevin Love had a better rebounding year that barkley ever had in his career. 15.2 vs 14.6,
Kevin love also had a 30 30 rebounding game. Hes a Great rebounder man.

The Cavs Did coast, were inconsistent however when the comp was up they did show glimpses of how they are playing as a team now...

And in that january game kyrie irving was limited(less than a month back), and they didnt have channing frye. lol

and clearly you havent watched JR play during the playoffs since youve concluded he hasnt changed his game which all it took was them telling him take any shot he liked and now hes selective on his shots.

Isn't it physically downhill for LeBron after this year, as in he's past his prime? If he leaves Cleveland and tries to rebuild elsewhere, he will be on a downward trend in physical performance while having to wait some time to have a viable team for a championship. How many more years does the guy have in the league?

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.

You would think his age plus minutes played are going to start catching up to him very soon. He has far more minutes played than any other player over the past 10 years. Rarely misses games, is always the number 1 option, etc. I would think this is his last year of playing at this level.

Love's a good rebounder just not on the Cavs. They don't utilize him well enough to be that, and in fairness, if they did play a lot more small ball with him at the 5 he'd probably get a ton of rebounds but they would get absolutely torched at the rim because he's a terrible defender there. He's a flawed player in that way. His rebounding skill doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Couple thoughts:

The Warriors are not worse defensively than they were last year. They were ranked 4th this year (1st last year) because they were so dominant offensively and blew so many teams out that they could get away with easing back defensively in the 4th qtr of games. The personnel have not changed, and I would argue if you look at individual players they have improved defensively compared to last year.

The Cavs, on the other hand, are worse defensively. I'm not sure anyone can argue against that. The personnel they have are not as good defensively as the personnel they had last year. That said, they are better offensively.

If both of these things are true (which I believe they are), then the matchup arguably favors the Warriors even more-so than it did last year. You can not win against the Warriors on offense alone and any team that thinks they can will be run out of the building.

It would not surprise me at all if the Cavs don't play Love much this series, or at the very least his usage declines over the series. Cavs gotta step up defensively if they want to run with GSW.

It's not like I said Love was shitty...I said he was good. Lmk when he averages double digits for his career in the playoffs like that bum Barkley.

You need context for a playoff career average. Again Love had 8 straight Double Doubles until the toronto series, where Game 1 and 2 were blowouts, Game 3 and 4 he did struggle game 5 blowout and game 6 he played the entire game and look at that he got a double double(20 and 12).

You wanna go hyperbole, never called barkely a bum you did. I also strongly believe love will get a ton of rebounds vs the warriors again to put his average up from 9.6 rebs to your "respectable" 10 rebounds a game in the playoffs. lol.

Also, Love lost 25+ pounds in order to fit in better, which certainly impacts his ability to rebound and bang down low like he use to. He's still great though, and should be able to rebound well against the Warriors.

I think he has 2-3 more years for this level of play he's doing.
No way he plays over 40 minutes at 35.
