Sony DSC-W1 5.1MP

got a good deal via ebay. Paid only $229 for a $300 camera. Takes sweet shots and the 2.5 inch screen is awesome! Other cool think is the boot time, which is like a second. My previous cameras have had a long boot time, which has kinda sucked.

I can't wait to take this baby to the Trail of Dead show next week

That's the same model I want. I don't know much about digital cameras, but can you focus perspectives with them similar to SLR cams?

what does it do? I have the V1, which is almost the same spec as the F717, but in a compact form, like that.

The W1 sounds similar in name, so I wonder if this has manual controls too?

I was fooling around with it and it has some nice manual controls, like focus and apature. Need to read more of the manual.

I wanted the Powershot S1 IS also (actually, I bought it and returned it at one point) and was quite pleased with it, but now the Powershot G6 is the best deal, IMO. Hot-shoe, bigger swivel screen, 7 megapixels (which makes up for only having a 4x optical zoom vs the S1's 10 x optical). The only thing it doesn't have is the image stabilizer, but I usually carry a tripod w/ me if taking pics.
