Sounds great. Panos Paney and his Surface team are likely designi g scarlett for them.

Hope this gen steps up build quality as the X did. Especially around controllers. Still lots of little issues I have with the DS4, they're not really cheap for something that is still kinda creaky and has sharp edges and has the joysticks develop groves in the sticks, even in the last revision.

And I need Panos to get on stage alternating between screaming and whispering things at the reveal keynote, he is by far Microsofts best presenter (though Phil is next)

I'd kinda like slighlty rounded corners as well as the dual tone look to return ala One S. Simple yet sophisticated.

So looks like that RuthenicCookie guy on reddit definitely has inside knowledge
RuthenicCookie who broke news of Sony not going to E3 says PS5 is a Monster (Details inside)
with ps4 they changed ram numbers right up to the Reveal in Feb. all leaks and i mean all, for orbis, were 4gb of GDDR5
Yep, makes no sense to reveal hard numbers like TF and memory that are subject to change this far in advanced let alone before a formal reveal
Neither one wants to reveal a TF figure this early, only to be one uped by the competition with a followup announcement, Its a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

Clock speeds and cooling solution can change still.

How much torque am I going to get out of that PS5? I need to go 0-60 in as little as six seconds, so my requirements are pretty demanding.

Late 2020 is much more likely not just because of hw but games as well

A bunch of games could get a nice boost if PS5 launched in March. Like FF7, TLoU2, WD.

Judging by the leaks it seems Sony is ahead in development by quite a bit compared to MS.

up ports dont exactly instill confidence on a next gen console, the pro and x already did that. They need to differentiate as a clean cut gen with launch exclusives.

Leak says March-November. If it was march Sony wouldn't have skipped E3
Scarlett is November

I think it'll be similar to the ps4/xbone launch

PS5 will be fall 2020 like Scarlett.

If PS5 launches in March 2020, it would mean Sony would be shipping consoles from Asia to global locactions asap starting probably right after the Christmas rush. So maybe Jan 2020 so stores have it in time to put on shelves in March?

I don't know how fast consoles can be manufactured, but that would mean Sony would be mass producing PS5's in Q4 in the millions. Maybe even start in Q3 if yields aren't great.

Anyone seen this before? https://pastebin.com/yCa2XzVu

I know it's pastebin of course. I was bored and thought I'd search for "playstation 5" and found that in the list.

Is there any other way to search for leaks? Or is this simply it?

You mean late 2018 right?
A chip tape out design can happen 1-2 years in advanced, that doesn't make it viable for mass production: low yields and extensive testing required

Calculations point towards a 64CU-72CU GPU fitting on a 380-400 mm2 die RT sillicon included

Lastly a 400mm2 die on 7nm would translate to ~320 mm2 on 7nm EUV. That would mean 56-64CUs (enabled) at 1.8GHz. Goddamn
dude you are the craziest person on neogaf. Nothing points to a 380-400mm2 square silicon, except for you wishing for some of those specs.

Actually they said that won’t release until next fiscal year... so not before March 31, 2020.

But some weird journalist took that claim as it won’t release in the next 12 months.

Exactly, April or May is still possible. A ton of great games launching around that time can only help build hype too. Plus I'd rather play them on PS5 and not my vacuum cleaner Pro.

???
Scarlett 385 mm2 shot...
But sure nothing points towards that, let's just pretend to be dumb

I reckon both PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will launch in September, within just a couple of weeks of one another.

Europe will get them in October. Japan in Jan 2021.

I'd pick mine up in Easter 2021. Oof, that's a long way off.

Still standing by my prediction.

PS5 :

Die size 315-350mm2
Zen2 @3.2GHz
Navi 8.3-9TF (36/40CUs @1.8GHz boost)
20GB of GDDR6
Some sort of RT hardware
1TB SSD
500$

Scarlett

Die size 360-390mm2
Zen2 @3.2GHz
Navi 9TF - 9.5TF (44/48CUs @1.6GHz)
20GB GDDR6
Hardware RT
1TB SSD
500$ maybe more

Sounds reasonable/ realistic but I expect 16GB rather than 20.

Yea, 16GB + pool of 4GB DDR4

Im not sure a dual memory pool setup makes sense. All it really does is increase the size, heat and power draw of the SoC and make sharing data between the GPU and CPU slower and more difficult.

Will the next Xbox even launch in Europe?
The real questions are: How many tiers this time and how many months from initial release to the last tier release?
By the time X1 released here in Portugal everybody that wanted a console already had a PS4 and nobody even noticed that the X1 was already being sold by retailers.

I think both consoles will be launched fall 2020, with a PlayStation announcement around february 2020 in special event and more at next e3 with exact date of launch

Lets hope Microsoft learned from their mistakes.

There was no mistake the EU is Sony land no matter what they do. They could crap in a box and it would sell in main land EU. MS might as well put resources in places they might sell consoles honestly.

Hypothetically, if a next -gen system added multiple vapor chamber coolers would that bring the heat down or is this just not physically possible within the arrangement? If it were possible it would be a cheap solution to getting more performance into the systems without risking overheating. But I'm no expert.

I also wonder if we see a custom advanced cooling technology from either Sony or Microsoft that we haven't seen before, this too could help nullify any increased wattages allowing them to cram more power in the box.

I thought it was rather odd, that I had to wait almost a year to buy an XB1. I could imagine that costing them quite a bit of sales.

We're mostly presuming it's an APU, so one contact point = one big vapor chamber would make sense. They could add some cooling to the flip side of the board but it's generally a minimal gain for the cost, only on high end GPUs.

if ps5 soc 315mm2 vs scarlet soc 395mm2 is true then i guess it's bad news for sony or maybe spec are similiar except xbox has hw ray-traycing ps5 does not. to me 315mm2 ps5 soc rumor is most legit of all fake rumors i've seen.

Mind you, that leak ties up with Gonzalo leak that has boost clock of 1.8GHz, I doubt MS bigger die would have such a high clocks, so perhaps Sony went with smaller die but higher clocks.
