That's cool thanks for the info, I did try googling but getting any recent results was a hard task!
For now I placed it according to the instructions, back on my desk at the indicated position pointing towards me.For those of you lucky enough to already have the damned thing, have you played with the sensor placement at all? I'd like to put my first sensor to the right and fairly high up from where I'll be sitting/standing. Just wondering if folks have had any issues with higher sensor placement.
The primary differences are higher resolution, higher refresh rate, back-of-the-head tracking, and better ergonomics. What are the main differences between the DK2 and the release version?
My 2 cents on EVE Valkyrie is that it is so so. Maybe the most divisive title.
It's not badly executed mind you as the controls are very responsive and it ticks many sci-fi boxes but from the hours played in Alpha/Beta and now the final game I just find the gameplay a bit boring frankly. I love the EVE universe and had a lot of fun with the MMO so I want to like it but the relatively thin dog-fighting combat of Valkyrie is not winning me over. Menus are a bit messy and the sense of VR is not that strong (has more to do with everything being space-distance away that). However, I need to spend more time with the final game but there's more alluring games in Lucky's Tale and Chronos right now.
I guess it depends on how much you enjoy dog-fighting MP games though there's no gravity to battle against here. Movement doesn't feel challenging as you can hault to complete stop or go lighting fast and take super sharp turns. Actual combat is a bit chaotic as well with most deaths being surprise attacks hard to defend against.
edit: I'm thinking something like Descent is more appropriate for fun space-ship MP fighting as you would be navigating dangerous labyrinths underground with FPS tropes like chokepoints, cover and camping being more of an element.
Cheers, I'll set it all up at work in the morning and give it a go!
Got my shipping email( KS Backer ~9100 ), and tracking number, shippling from NL, probably get it Monday/Tuesday. Annoying i dont have it for the weekend as during the week for me suxorz but looking forward to it especially as i miss VR from selling my DK2 last weekend.
I've been having a blast with Lucky's Tale on my DK2. In fact it was the game that sort of revitalized my excitement for VR.
Palmer Luckey has bought every nearby Walmart, Gamestop and Target out of Xbox One controllers. Now he needs to wait for them to restock.
lol, well the guy did send me my Processing Shipping yesterday, so its only a follow up from him today. Poor guy must be pretty busyWhew, they DID ship a Rift today. I thought the one guy delivering was out.
I tried to place mine on top of a bookshelf in the corner of my room, but the setup wizard wasn't having it, and my position in Oculus Home was super low. I ended up putting it on top of a vertical Xbox that's sitting on my desk and everything seems fine. That being said, I'd like to go back to the shelf setup if I could make it work, because then I wouldn't have to reposition the sensor for sitting vs standing. For those of you lucky enough to already have the damned thing, have you played with the sensor placement at all? I can be a winner too.Orders be processing. Hope we have some winners in this thread tonight.
This place needs some lists!
Your Top 5 games to play with your Rift - via either the Oculus Store or SteamVR Store.
Bonus points if a game in your list takes more than 10 hours to complete.
we make a list of the 5 people who actually got a rift
Of the few who have headsets, probably even fewer can justify buying an actual pool of the expensive, seemingly content light games to compile a legitimate best of list.
Damn, now I feel bad. Like I don't deserve to have it. I mean, I'm enjoying it...but it hasn't rocked my world. Its just....fun.
Yes, this is my impression. I keep thinking - "there's gotta be some 20+ hour cool game, right?" Reviews seem to point to Chronos as being the best, longer Rift (or Steam-compatible) game right now. But $50 for 12-15 hours, for a 'good but not great' title seems like a lot just to pat myself on the back for being an early adopter.
*taps pun detector*🤔 Hm...Minus eve valkyrie, all the games have been stellar.

Didn't know what it was about eve valkyrie but I couldn't get into it very much.
Got elite dangerous tonight and i've spent the last hour learning how to lauch, dock, and travel between systems and absolutely love it. The only problem i have is when i start the game, i always have to press the xbox button to re-orient the screen.
If this is considered a launch, then this is probably the best lineup of games for any system that i've bought. Minus eve valkyrie, all the games have been stellar.
Just tried all the free stuff apart from Luckys Tale with the DK2, some really cool things but the stuff that had me most excited was the video content, stuff like being at sporting events, being IN a documentary/nature program seems amazing.
If I could buy a rift now and sports would just sell me virtual tickets with great views to their events I'd be completely in for that.
Is there anything to demo for sporting events? I would be curious to try that out.
Edit: Latest shipping update.
Who is shipping?
Oh my god! Bear is shipping!
How can that be?!
What is this shipping update, lol
UploadVR has a video review of Technolust up. They're really positive on it.

I hope they get Vive support soon, or my rift arrives ASAP. I actually have the full version of Technolust purchased because I backed it, but I can't play it yet because... well, what I just said.
Shipping was really good for Europe yesterday. They are just about over the 6 minute hump in places like UK. NA saw no movement up the Time Ladder as the latest order yesterday was at 5min 17 seconds. I hope they make a huge NA push tonight.
I'm really curious if they plan on it. They announced Technolust: Scanlines last year for PSVR and Vive but said it wasn't a port and was basically a new game that would require tracked controllers. I'm hoping they do get around to porting this one though since I cancelled my Rift order ;__;
This is quickly becoming my most hated thread. I just come in here expecting to be disappointed. Maybe I get my rift before E3.
Guy Godin said:It didn't make Steam folks happy though. They feel like it's pushing people off their platform and I'm still fighting them to keep it this way..

Yeah, I've actually really enjoyed Eve, even though it's clearly quite shallow, but most of all its wetted my appetite for something deeper like Elite. Are you playing with a HOTAS or does the Xbox controller work fine?
LOL me too
What are the chances this thread gets to an OT2 before day-1 pre orders even get theirs

It's pricey, but me and my friends got the Saitek X55 Rhino - Elite has default button mappings specifically for that, the controller actually has a lot more buttons/switches than are needed, and it controls great. A lot of people also get the cheaper X52.The xbox controller. Being new to the game it's hard to stay stable though, there is a lot of wobbling involved without any assists on and it feels like the controller could use a softer touch.
Is there a specific hotas to get for this game? I really liked the game so far I can see how the controllers would really add to the immersion that's already there.
- Lens flare issue is a MASSIVE PROBLEM. Gear VR and DK2 did not have this! How did this get released with this issue! Creates such a massive loss of IQ. Makes everything look blurry. Hope VIVE doesn't have this issue, that alone would justify the switch.
Parabolee, word is that both headsets have the lens flare problem. I think your impressions are the first I've read that says the Rift FOV is worse than Gear VR.
The Vive does have this issue, and it's probably roughly the same in terms of how strong the effect is. I've heard people say it's worse, and I've heard people say it's better. We were made aware of this issue a few months ago for the Vive because people noticed it during previews, but I've never come across anyone mentioning it about the Rift until the final version arrived for some people.
As for your issues with motion sickness, have you tried drinking some ginger ale or taking pills against that kind of thing? It might help you train your brain to accept this kind of experience. You're already describing symptoms of having your brain associate certain games with sickness, triggering nausea just by thinking about them. That's not good, and the sooner you can stop that from happening, the better. The brain is a fickle thing.
