Of course it is! I officially ate crow though, I thought he'd come in 2nd (after expecting 1st initially) and it didn't happen.Zep said:meier your FSU bias is getting out of hand sir!

It is a time trial event. Fastest. How you can propagate yourself through the water fastest. Fastest. F. A. S. T. E. S. T.
How you decide to swim should be irrelevant.
Shall we have skipping? Hopping? What about running backwards? Why is swimming treated differently?
Some days I prefer to skip down the road to catch my train. Should skipping be a sport? Maybe the moonwalk perhaps?
Athletics only has one of these ridiculous events, the walk. Its just 1 medal. Swimming has built a mountain of superfluous medals from redundant strokes.
It's a race. Down the water. Fastest.
Including events because other countries would be rubbish at freestyle...this is no argument. Shall we ban track and field then? The Chinese are shit at that.
Shot vs. Javelin are you serious? They are different objects. In swimming you dont get any obstacles or different apparatus. You intentionally cripple your style.
No logical comeback to this at all.
Plus, isn't Bolt only in 3 events? 100, 200, 4x100 relay? Phelps has 250% more gold medals than Bolt even has events...Jeff-DSA said::lol
You have to be kidding me. Bolt has won two gold medals and all of a sudden he's better or has made a bigger impact than the guy that won 8? Give me a break...

The man just broke the 100m and 200m WRs within the span of a few days. The last athlete to even get gold on both of those events was Carl Lewis when I was still shitting in my nappy. He is already a legend of the track & field, if Jamaica wins the 4 x 100m relay it'll just be icing on the cake.Jeff-DSA said::lol

Setting new WR's in the 100m and 200m is, imo, a much bigger accomplishment than anything a swimmer can ever do.

After our women in the open water, I think there's a chance of David Davies challenging for a medal in that, too. On the downside, I don't really rate our 4x100 men's chances of defending given the current 100m field.
My huge outside massively optimistic bet: Jade Johnson getting something.
I'm not even going to engage in any more dialogue with you (or any other Australian for that matter) because... fuck it, I'm not even going to explain.jey_16 said:yes, because England is home to all things great and significant?.....maybe a 100 years ago, the country is going down the tubes

Redgrave is a better pick than Hoy - golds at 5 successive Olympics, and all that. Shows strength and consistency more than any number of golds in the same event does ;-)mclem said:And given the bickering going on, I clearly have to say Hoy > Phelps + Bolt. Not that I actually think that, I'm just feeling left out.
Sheena Tosta got silver, and our own Tasha Danvers got a PB and the bronze.deepbrown said:Wait. Who got bronze and silver in the 400m hurdles? Tell me...I missed it.
Noooooooo. WTF. Another freaking medal. Well done Tasha!mclem said:Sheena Tosta got silver, and our own Tasha Danvers got a PB and the bronze.

The fact that Americans on here are complaining about the typical Australian arrogance and poor attitude shows there's a big problem in the Australian psyche that isn't just limited to the "good natured attack" on Britain.

I don't want to explain it because I'm not going to change my mind.
But if you want to know it's because 100m is the single most important competition in term of human pushing to the physical limit. I don't care if you can jump 5 meters with a pole or get 10.0 from all 10 judges in water synchronize dancing, I don't care. They don't mean anything to me except being part of the penis contest amount nations.
