Also, I don't know if it was discussed, but
the voice in the Tardis sounded quite a bit like Davros. Seems like something he would do, too.

I'm hoping it was either the doctor himself doing it for some reason, River Song turning into a baddie or the Master... I enjoy the Daleks as much as anyone, but Davies used them for 3 of his 4 season finales.. they need a break. Give them an episode or two here or there for sure, but we need a new baddie to step up

The master also needs to make a come back because Davies put him in two of the worst plots in recent memory. The End of Time and Season 3 finale were both so mind numbingly stupid we need a fresh take on the character to cleanse or collective pallete from Davies version

Is season 3, the one where everyone wishes the Doctor back?

Yepp. And the human's from the future are turned into little UFO's.

It was such a good set up for the return of the Master too. The prior episodes were so great.... BBC should have hired someone to kick Davies really hard in the rocks every time he came up with something really stupid. It would have saved us from a lot of idiocy.

It worried me greatly that they used the same plot device they used to resurrect Tinkerbell in Peter Pan to bring back the Doctor. You can't get more deus ex than somebody coming back to life because they wished really, really hard.

Well, there was the whole Archangel Network thing, I'm pretty sure that was *supposed* to be the MacGuffin that made that plotpoint work.

Not that it really hangs together all that well even if you factor that in.

Pretty sure in that Writers Tale thing Moffat tells Davies he doesn't need Davros or the Daleks to be the main arc in the next series and Davies could use them in the finale if he wanted, not sure though.

Specifically RTD was thinking of showing a little more of the actual Time War with the Daleks in The End of Time and asked Moffat if he had Daleks in Series 5. Moffat answered with yes, but said that RTD could still use the Daleks if he wanted. RTD didn't want to use them again if they were going to be in Series 5, so Moffat then said "I don't have Davros, if you want him." RTD in the end concentrated purely on the Time Lords, who Moffat wanted nothing to do with. So... it's probably not Davros.

I'm pretty sure one of Moffats complaints about RTD-era who was that the Big Bads for seasons were mostly recycled from previous era's. Thus I woul;d be really surprised if the 2011 ended with
Daeleks
behind it all....

Moffat poses with the guy who plays Sherlock before and after his peanut allergy kicks in:

I think I saw Moffat the other week at Penn & Teller. Jonthan Ross + Wife, Danny Baker and Stephen Fry were there as well (thought not with Moffat), but pshaw! Who cares about them eh?

So tomorrow, WW officially finishes the new series?

Wow.

But like Ood sigma said.

The song may be ending...

But the adventure...

Never ends!

I'm sad, too. But, I've been rewatching episodes already. I think GAF made me a lifelong Who fan.

I kinda hope the big bad guy in season 2, 6, 32, Snarg, is a brand new bad guy. I'd kinda like Moffat to invent something himself, so that 20 years from now, in the Who Revival 3.0, they will go back and reboot his baddie :)

He's supposed to be new, isn't he? Someone that "the Doctor and his Tardis doesn't know"?

Finally got around to finishing the Mark of the Rani. It was alright.

I definitely liked the ending where The Master is stuck with the Rani in her Tardis with dinosaurs.

Also about current Doctor Who, when will they bring back the Clockwork men?

I believe it's supposed to be
Omega. The spaces between dimensions (where Omega lives) was specifically mentioned in the finale, and the Greek symbol for Omega was on the laptop in the first episode.

I hope it is.

Maybe Moffat can do justice to Omega where Davies couldn't to the Master.

Also, one of the friends I am going to see this weekend said he stopped in London on his way home to Canada and picked me something up.

Considering he is the one who got me into Who in the first place, I'm hoping it's something cool and Who related! :D

I don't know if you're aware of this, but the downloadable adventure games are considered "episodes" of the season, so in a round about wayyou still have four "episodes" to go (only two of which are out now

I don't think Doc9 fought the time war. It was Doc8.

It's implied in "Rose" that Ecclescakes has only recently regenerated, suggesting that it was quite possibly Eight who fought in the Time War.

Yeah, this. I didn't know UK TV was less regimented. We have seasons, and pretty much know when the shows are airing.

Filming for thirteen episodes and a special of Doctor Who takes nine months. You don't want "full" seasons, believe me.

Just watched the first episode/part/whatever of Sherlock, are we discussing it in here, or does it have it's own thread?

Anyway I really enjoyed it, and look forward to parts 2 and 3.

Great timing. Now that UK Gaf has gone to sleep, I've finally found some time to watch the next episode. :lol Vincent and the Doctor.

Amy is so adorable in this. The museum director looks familiar.

Oh, and I just saw somebody's avatar when the Doctor pointed right at the screen.

Slartibartfast- The
Horribly underrated
Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy film
Philip - Shaun Of The Dead

He will also be appearing in Harry Potter 7.1 as Rufus Scrimgeour, and was also suppsoedly one of RTD's choices to play the Tenth Doctor.

I have no idea who that is. Eteric, just saw your avatar. That's two in one episode!

So far, this is a cute story.

Oh, shit. There is the third avatar - where the Doctor jumps Amy. Apparently, this is a very popular episode. :lol

Oh, dear. They broke Van Gogh.

EDIT: You know, for all the shit we gave Martha for having the power to be black in time periods that didn't really care for tolerant behavior, Amy sure does get away with miniskirts in time periods in which showing an ankle would have you branded a harlot.

I still can't get over how awesome the TARDIS looks.

"The ultimate ginger." Heh. Nice ending, and a very good "fun" episode. Clearly, Curtis is a Van Gogh fan.

I'll be interested to hear The Lodger impressions from someone who doesn't have any preconceptions about James Corden.

Watching the latest series in SD. Man, I can really see the difference after watching them all in HD previously. All the little details I noticed - they're gone. Smith's face is even less shiny in his introductory scene.

To give WW some reference, think of someone who you think appears far too much on TV in the US, now multiple that by 100000. Then you have the amount the fat guy in this episode appears on TV in the UK. Now imagine that he kinda acts exactly the same regardless of what character he is playing, or if he is supposed to be himself in EVERY TV SHOW HE IS IN, and then you'll have some idea of why we were been cautions going into this episode.

And thankfully those of us the the USA were able to enjoy the episode and his character toally by not seeing that.

I had no clue who he was and I totally enjoyed both the episode and his character.

Nooo, don't give him a reference point! Without ANY preconceptions, I said!

As an aside, a random thought: Corden is to the late 00s what Tony Slattery was to the late 80s/early 90s?

Just starting the The Lodger. And so, James Cordon is like Kevin James?

But goddamn. I want to live in this version of the oh my god the TARDIS blew up!

EDIT: Oh, okay it just went away.

Well, so far this episode is brilliant.
I'm going to save the final two episodes for tomorrow, though.

If this fat guy is this Cordon guy y'all don't like, he's actually sort of fun so far. But this is literally the first time I've ever seen him, so that probably has something to do with it.

Oh, and I see why people were confused at my earlier comments of Smith being an asshole. He's dropped that part of the character for the past few episodes.

Amy keeps getting dumber as the show goes, however. But her skirts keep getting shorter, so there's that.

Watching the Doctor try to act human is hilarious. The shower scene had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to tear up.

EDIT: Oops. Spoke too soon. Got to the soccer scene. Now he's just an accidental asshole. :lol
