Have they really gone so far into the AI charade that they create the fake usernames and make you search for a game when you choose to practice Vs. AI or is there some sort of setting I need to tweak that's causing me to join actual games?

Practice vs AI is just that, a match with players vs AI. I think there's a setting for AI team-mates though.

So - never played the beta. Got sucked into the hype just in the last couple weeks or so. Got it on PC, and played for about three hours tonight. Currently level 8.

First impressions:

- Playing with IRL friends, or even GAF-ers, is going to be exponentially more fun than with randoms. Seriously, this game demands constant communication; moreso than just about any game I've played since, shoot, Halo 2 (and Rainbow 6: Siege, I guess).

- I really love playing Mercy - but holy shit, guys, please pay attention to me a LITTLE bit. I can hold my own and fend off a guy or two; but some folks completely ignore me and just expect absolutely free healing the whole game. Mercy is squishy.

- I suck with the Ninja guy, that is all.

Are you me?, I try my best to heal and a lot of people just run into the middle of the battle like non-thinking beings and I'm like "dude, please stop, I'll be destroyed in two seconds if I go in there".

Need to figure out my elite controller tho.

Bastion ain't OP. None of the 30+ games I've played have had a Bastion as POTG. Because he is easily countered.

If you think he's OP then give him a shot, play him for a few rounds and see what you think.

Soldier76 is fine man; not lame at all. I like the fact that 'ordinary joe bloggs soldier' actually sticks out a bit in a game like this because everyone else is so fantastical.

I would recommend changing your hero depending on how the game is going, though.

Bastion hasn't been a problem at all. I've only seen one PotG with him and he's pretty easy to beat. Kicked his ass with both Tracer and Agent 76.

Hes only good in public servers month 1 when most dudes on your team dont know how to play the game and pick Trace and Soldier 76 on instinct, running into bullets and wondering what happen. He's so easy to counter that basically nobody plays him above mid-tier play.

I don't think it's necessarily that the character itself is op, just that it leans heavily towards corner camping. Usually during those POTG's I find the players are unaware of the of them and get sprung. I just don't mesh well with the play style personally and do awful as him, but he certainly does hit hard when you're doing the right things.

People can play bastion as much as they want, im fine with the free kills as Genji.

It's one of his best utilities. if you use detonate instantly after throwing you can get yourself out of the range of close range chars like winston and mei.
