Overwatch |OT2| A New Low in Unlocking and Microtransaction Systems

Got a 16 kill streak as Sym defending on Anubis. The other team was composed of 6 Lucios for some reason. Switched to Winston for point B since they started to play normally, super intense back and forths until the very end.

Just had a game where a Pharah launched up to do her and ult and I followed her with D.Va...

Poor poor Pharah death by suicide.

Even better when you leap up as Winston.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
She doesn't have Tracers mobility or sustain though. Just her damage.

What she lacks in horizontal she tries to make up for with vertical.

I think Tracer is better in most situations but D.Va's not useless. Just lacking.

wtf is that star? don't tell me they already got to level 100 and start all over again now.

How are they so fast, how is this possible?

Yeah I don't think most people utilise her fly that well.

You know that goddamn junkrat or widow or torb turret up there? I don't need to find the long way round. I just get there.

I did say it but no one listened to me! I really hate those games where people just roam around aimlessly like that. Though I know you're joking :p (at least hopefully)

I think we always need 1 healer minimum, and on attack or capture, two are a huge asset.

Yeah I'm joking :p I just didn't hear you, though I'm sure that's not why we lost.

Still, I generally that think switching out of healing is a bad idea, regardless of the map or scenario every team benefits from at least one support. I would have switched in if I had known. I have actually been playing Mercy a bit today, and really enjoy her character. Kind of hate her alt skins though.

With that said, I do think that bad switches are one of the main reasons why teams end up losing. It gets to the last 3 minutes or so and you start to see some really odd character picks coming out. Baston on attack? Okay then. Very weird some times. I think in regards to switching, ideally it's good to coordinate those switches with your team and re-compose the team rather than just an individual role, because the latter usually doesn't make the difference.

He can still stun, fail the stun, and then just hammer anyway and with a little luck, will probably still instantly kill you at close-mid range, even with a cooldown, it's the accessibiity of the stun combo that feels like crappy design. The cooldown would make failing it more punishing, but you have to be pretty bad to mess up the stun often to begin with.

I'm thinking about it like this. If McCree catches Trace/Genji/Reaper in a hallway they deserve to die, straight up. With a highly skilled player those three can be an absolute nuisance (especially Tracer) that have fantastic escape options. If they get close enough to McCree where he's aware of their presence, they fucked up. If they round a corner and McCree is there, they fucked up. If they run up on McCree's team capturing a point and get in the middle of the throwdown, they fucked up. The problem is McCree can kill characters without great movement options (the tanks) with the double fan combo. If you wanna argue his primary fire is too good that's one thing but the flash + fan combo wasn't an accident.

Also, if you don't fight McCree in his range as reaper, how do you fight him? You can't. He just kills you. Genji has a chance at mid, but McCree's usually back up a solid team with one or two supports. Whittling away at them with shuriukens doesn't kill when they have supports.

Have you considered he keeps mobile offensive heroes in check?

Anyone else playing in short bursts? I just gotta do something else after a certain point in OW.

Longest I can go is 6 hours without taking a break, and this is playing with friends.

Two of my buddies that don't have jobs are still doing their marathon. They're on hour 17 now.

Blows my mind.

What's D.Vas role in this game? She can't take damage and her guns are worthless.

Disruptor and Bully. Charge the front lines. Her damage is best close-up. When your mech goes down, bail out, run around popping shots until your next mech is ready, repeat. If you can keep alive, use your ult to team kill from a distance.

Pharah's are the bane of my Junkrat. I'll be pleasantly minding my own business, throwing traps in front of Tracers and keeping people penned up in a kill zone, and suddenly rockets! And it's tricky to hit her that high up with a parabolic arc.

That's kinda how I play her?

Works fairly well too when your team actually tries to go for objectives. Steam rolled more than a few teams that just fights on the frontlines leaving the obj undefended with only a torb which isn't a problem for D.va

Yeah what people don't seem to really understand is that defense matrix is the part of her that can actually tank, her mech HP is just a timer you have to escape / harass after using DM to block shots for your team.

Nah, she can take a beating, just not upfront with her massive critical box, which is why I think they made her into a hit and run style is because you take far less damage facing away and boosting off. Just a matter of fine-tuning I guess, but whatever, I think she still has plenty of utility. If they buff her great, but there are other characters I want buffing more.

Yep! lol

As a Pharah player though (along with some others), fuck Winston.

I feel such satisfaction from Blizzard saying they're going to buff D.Va after all the arguments I've had with people who swore up and down that she's perfectly fine and totally isn't the worst tank. Same with McCree getting nerfed. but there weren't many people fighting that observation.

She doesn't have Tracers mobility or sustain though. Just her damage.

"Fat" means she can take a fair bit of damage, and also has the block ability (which nullifies projectiles in a 3D space in front of her, not a 2D plane like Reinhardt's shield).
EDIT: So you can stick it out from behind a corner at a right-angle to what you want to block, and it'll still work.

"Tracer" means she should keep moving, and keep annoying the other team from various angles (especially people who like to sit in high places).

Her ult makes for satisfying POTG, but when it doesn't kill it can still clear people of an objective, or at least send people running in all directions.

That ties into one of her greatest assets, actually. The ability to break teams up. For a "tank", she's not actually that good 1v1 against a lot of heroes, but if you let people think they can take you, you can have them chase you halfway across the map just when their team might need them most. Even if you die, you may have kept them busy long enough for your buddies to push forward. I personally enjoy playing her with that "meta" in mind.

Had a crushing misplay that I only realised moments after earlier tonight.
I was playing Mei on Hollywood with a group pushing the payload. Enemy Mei sneaks up behind us and drops her ult, freezing 5 teammates. I narrowly escape the range and high noon is heard in the background. Now my instinct was to pop into my invincibility ice before he goes off but he ended up wiping the other 5 so easily and moments later I go oh fuck and realise a simple ice wall would have cockblocked McCree and ultimately helped turn the game in our favour. (It was very close)
I guess I can take some solace in spotting the play even if I didn't have the correct reflexes to execute it.

Saw way more Winston players tonight, seems people know how to play him more in higher levels? Also seeing more Zaryas.

Winston's not so bad. If you're high in the sky, he has to jump at you to hurt you. If you've got your concussion rocket in your pocket, you can mess him up.

Everytime I use that mini rocket he jumps right on my face. And god forbid if I shoot him when he's next to me because SPLASH DAMAGE! lololol

I'm usually jetting out of there no problem, but there's the small occasion that a widowmaker is perched somewhere waiting to play duck hunt with me. :lol

And fuck Hanzo too with his arrows having the hitbox the size of a fucking car. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

When I want to play a more relaxed game, I usually pick Mercy. It's not as much pressure healing the team.

That being said, the game is infinitely more fun with friends and party chat on discord.

I was just part of a defending team that, through chance, ended up being 5 Meis. "Are we doing this? Please tell me we're doing this."

And we did. Icewalls everywhere. Everyone frozen for 5 minutes. Then, they got to the 2nd escort checkpoint... and we all went Reinhart. Five overlapping shields.

It was a brief moment of time I shared with 4 other internet assholes. And we all laughed out asses off as we lost.

Widow is for sure the real bane of the Rocket Queen's existence. Her and Hanzo's flying tree trunks.

Like I said, the rocket is fantastic because if you wait until he's right in your face you can just send him flying off into the distance. It's a ton of fun.

Heroes never sleeps.

Considering the play time on my level 60 friends who already passed days in play time this is insane.

lol why? hes rarely useful.

2 Bastions, my team got constantly lit up like James Caan in Godfather, I used Genji but cooldown wasn't quick enough and no one bothered to shoot at the bastard.

He's in every game and will find a way to ruin a streak.

Chuck

Still without luck
The strat for attack in anubis is 6 junkrats for objective a, then 6 meis for b.

Also, 5 meis and one bastion is reeeeaaallllly good defending it.

none of that says he needs a nerf. it says your group isn't playing well/have the right comp to beat them

Bastion doesn't need a nerf, he needs a rework. Overpowered vs. pubbies and useless vs. experienced/coordinated teams does NOT, in fact, average out to a balanced character.

I mean, this is the beta talk again. They won't nerf him just because he owns a lot of players. McCree's getting nerfed because the math involved in that character being as good as he is (slightly) messed up.

Bastion? Counter him. Counter him. Counter. Him.

Yeah, I just played Lucio for the first time and sound blasting people off of cliffs might be the most fun I've had with a first person shooter in years. What a great character.

I feel like I'm the only one that hates playing Winston. No matter how I try to play him I feel like I get blown up way faster than Winstons against me do. Its frustrating. I'd rather play Roadhog anyways.

Anyone on your team were snipers? There was a team who had 3 Bastions in a game today and I just sniped them to death and they finally switched heroes. Bastion ain't all that.

Yup.

The only defensive character in 'need' of a nerf is Torb and his ridiculously accurate aimbot turret.

And not even a big nerf, just enough to stop low-skilled players from over-performing on low-level pubs.

I wish Widowmaker could cancel her grappling hook. That would allow me to swing more like Spiderman and drop off halfway through instead of getting stuck on walls.

Ugh, idk. Every time I play Torb, my turrets are found and destroyed immediately, so maybe you just gotta be better at figuring out where they'd be hidden if other team is playing a torb?

And on the matches where I've found the turrets and the enemy torb never switched up his spots it was pretty easy to bypass or show up and destroy the turrets immediately.

I mean, I would love for there to be at least a second or two before they found you and started shooting at you, it just feels cheap that they have such impeccable aim and timing.
