Some other D. Va things to be aware of:

  • Your projectile shield is a big 3D cone. I didn't realize this at first, since it looks like a rectangle from first-person view. It doesn't reflect, but it cancels projectiles in that zone. You can use it to safely peek somewhere or to block incoming spam.
  • If you boost and melee, you will punch an enemy back. It's not amazing, but it can be used to push people off cliffs while you stay alive.
  • If you boost and Q, your self-destructing mech will fly forwards instead of just dropping.
  • If you have ult and your mech gets destroyed, you can still ult while it is falling apart if you are quick. Just hit Q while the animation is playing.

Exactly that, I'm specialising as Reinhardt (I dabble with Reaper occasionally), he seems to be the most fun for me and is devastating when I'm well supported. I've tried a few other characters but keep going back to the beast lol.

With Reinhardt I feel like I can make the most difference in a game. When your team is unable to push forward f.e.

Haha so much yeah, I'm starting to really dislike bad Symmetra players, on both teams (Why would you put turrets there? Where's your teleporter? Why aren't you using that gun?). I rarely offense with her, except for Nepal. If you manage to setup a mini turret base on point A there and place a teleporter nearby it's hell for enemy team.

But, really important, if you play DEFENSE and if you play Symmetra... play it like offense. Flank and spam enemies with your beam, they usually start panicking, especially if there's a turret or two above, it just shakes them. That feisty blink/tsk sound of elimination will surely follow. Especially if it's Hanzo (he can't aim at you if you're doing circles), or Tracer (the beam catches onto her, sort of), or even Reinheardt (just get behind his ass and spam the beam).

Symmetra is love, Symmetra is life.

I think maybe people don't understand how to play Symmetra? I know I don't - I get how you do turrets and teleporters, but how do you do anything else with her? I tried firing her gun thing but it doesn't seem to do a lot, I'm probably doing it wrong?

She's my absolute favorite harassment hero. Don't look for a face to fight fair fight. Look for the most unfair fight imaginable. She has infinite fire guns, a two second boost with limited flight capability that cools down in a heartbeat, a nuke that she can boost forward before calling in another mech Titanfall style like, and an unlimited clip pistol when she's out of her mech. She's awesomesauce with a side of OMFG.

I think Reinhardt has decent carry potential against mediocre groups. He can push the payload a good distance provided the other team is off TDMing against yours. His melee wrecks most squishes and Earthshatter can lead to pretty big swings.

No pun intended.

Also people shouldn't sleep on mechless d.va. Her pistol is no joke.

On the subject of D.va, now that I've actually wrote how I feel she's best played -- I basically see her (oddly enough) as an analogue to Tracer, at least in how you should play her.

Straight up, if the team's at range, I'll stay in mechless form and just poke away at snipers, the pistol being a projectile weapon and not hitscan really helps you bait them out into shots. Plus it's crazy accurate with basically zero recoil.

But yeah in general, she's a very mobile flying flanking tank. Chasing down bad snipers / junkrats / people hiding on flank routes plus the occasional AOE clear for push pressure.

i don't get symmetra at all, but i was getting pretty into monk. farah is good too but it feels like her rockets don't splash nearly as much as I'd like and her boost recharge is sooooo loooong
 
As long as you're behind something I think you get shielded. Just run around a corner.

Yeah.

The best tho is to use it as a psych weapon because people are catching on... it's a great way to clear out a capture point... you just see the whole opposite team just clear out of there.

You can rocket jump by using her concussion round to give yourself extra mobility. Stay high, don't ever be on the ground.

Sometimes the range seems decent sized but avoidable and I can sort of make my way out of its range out in the open, and at other times it seems to stretch for miles and toast me. Walls seem the only surefire way to use the level to avoid it, but stuff like staircases and other non-walls-but-still-physical things might still let the blast pass right on through.

It really depends. I don't know what to make of it.

Her basic fire has short range but does more damage the longer it's on someone. If you get behind someone and hold it you're going to melt them.

From range you can charge her slow orb which is more of a denial space than an actual attack, though it goes through shields so stuff like a Reinhardt just plowing down a center lane will get hit.

I don't like to complain about characters being nerfed because for the most part I think you should just "git gud" but Mccree fucking needs to get nerfed. His concussion shot plus 6 shot spam are too fucking OP. I more have to complain about his concussion shot, that is like the ultimate ability in close quarters combat.

He'll get changed for sure. Blizzard will be watching these tournaments and see each team running two, and some matches having as many as 5 McCree's and they won't be happy with that.

12 shot spam.

He can flashbang, hammer down six shots, and then do his roll and have a full clip again.

Symmetra was weird at first but I found that she plays like a strategy game. Really fun once you figure out good places to use her turrets along with her gun.

There's a high window next to the gate near the last capture point which leads to a platform on which Torbjorn usually set up a turret to face the gate, always wonder how they feel when they see a mech come from above, about to explode.

I've done that before.

Got a nice triple kill once with it.

Usually if they see it coming they run. If you launch it thru there they are totally just WTF.

The misconception a lot of people seem to have is when a hero is listed under the "tank" role they think that should make them capable of being Reinhardt and just planting ass on a payload and sitting their to absorb shit from the entire enemy team and that just isn't the case.

All of the other tanks are "tanky" but not the kind of tanky that just stands in place and eats damage. They use their tankiness to achieve something. Roadhog uses his tankiness to get in the enemies face and pull someone out of position for a pick off. D.Va uses her tankiness to charge into front lines and draw fire from enemies so that her DPS heroes behind her can pick people off while they are distracted shooting the big robot. Zarya is a front liner that can potentially do a ton of damage but needs to be played extremely smartly around her shields or she will eat it and be super useless. Winston uses leap in tandem with his bulk and shield to get in and out of enemy "nests" do as much damage and disruption as possible and get the fuck out.

The tanks are some of the most underrated heroes in this game. In my opinion each one of them takes a certain amount of play time to get competent at. Each of them excels in certain situations, on certain maps, or in tandem with other heroes (ever see a Zarya ultimate + Hanzo ultimate?). I think the tanks are truly the backbone of any good team. It's a shame so many people waste their time ONLY played damage heroes and snipers. The world needs more quality TANKS. It's a role I absolutely love in MOBAs and I've really taken a liking to all five tanks in this game.

edit: And Mei, the unofficial 6th tank. Believe it people.

Played more Hanzo and I'm getting use to how he plays. Most of it is just dumb luck in hoping to get free headshots for instakills. I still can't hit shit with his Ultimate tho. I get two guys at most.
 
D.Va is my favourite character of the game, be it gameplay or character design as a whole.

People are really underestimating how dangerous she can be mechless with her pistol which is scarily accurate, no recoil and decent DPS. I often killed other tanks immediately after being ejected.
Plus it charges the ultra quite well.

I do not rest until I kill the ennemy D.Va, I do not just destroy her mech.


Question : is there a way to easily play OW with the GAF PS4 community without adding people ? It's a lot of hassle imho.

Man, how could I forget her barrier?!

I still have so much to work into my tactics.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
D. Va is a beast. You can use her boost and shield simultaneously, great for taking out Bastions and turrets.

Tonight I really grew to live Reindhardt and Widowmaker.
 
I'm starting to get frustrated with people playing Toblerone. There always seems to be at least 2 on each time hammering away at their turrets constantly making them near impossible to kill, and they always place them in areas where you practially have to expose yourself to them.

Wut. Repairing is only like 10 heal per hit. And torbjorns repairing turrets means they're (the torbs) not shooting at you.

But the turrents do a decent amount of damage and are extremely accurate, especially when there's usually 2 side by side.
