Overwatch |OT2| A New Low in Unlocking and Microtransaction Systems

Not open for further replies.
Here's what I think would make for some light but effective balance changes:

- Increase McCree's damage falloff
- Possibly give McCree's single shots a brief spread cooldown similar to TF2 Spy's revolvers
- Increase Widowmaker charge time
- Alter Widowmaker's charge-damage curve so low charged shots do less damage but higher charged shots increase in damage at a faster rate up to the original 100% damage after a certain point
- Increase volume of Widowmaker ultimate announcememt
- Stop Mei from interfering with your aim sensitivity, possibly buff something else to compensate
- Decrease size of D.VA's mech's critical hitbox or decrease the damage her mech takes from critical hits
- Additional Winston tesla cannons stack only 50% damage: so one does 50 dps to a target, 2 does 75 dps, 3 does 87.5, etc.

Additional idea: rebalance Symmetra so she can use her lock-on beam to heal (at a slower rate than Mercy) - maybe the damage she and her turrets does can be converted into stored healing?

So you play D.Va

Super skilled snipers are going to choose their best position regardless. It's when a team is already set up but then someone changes their position to sniper because of the suggestion even thought they suck ass and don't help the team at all. Sniper should not be a suggestion.

True. Agreed.

Eeeeeh we already got two healers and a semi one. I rather see some more shield ideas than turning her into a healer.

Lost 5 matches in a row just now, but at least I got a loot box from it!

white white blue white

2 sprays, 1 icon, 1 voice quip. And the icon was a duplicate, so I got 15 gold out of it. Fuck you Blizzard.
Uh, that's 95% of my boxes, and the other 4% is two blues. One box I got two epics in 39 levels.

Check yo privilege.

It is not always the case that a drop-out doesn't disadvantage the team. In my experience, it usually does, and also usually takes longer than a respawn. It is also really irritating to be constantly shuffled between half-finished games because people can't be bothered to finish them. There were times when it took me a full 40 minutes to actually get into a full-length game. There are genuine consequences to people dropping out of matches.

This cant be stated enough, I dont want to be put into a game where I have time to take a few steps before Defeat pops up and I'm dumped back in the queue.

On a side note what kind of other maps can they come with? We have KotH, CP, adn the hybrids.

Capture the Flag? Though they'd obviously need to mix it up so it wasnt just "Mobile heroes: The map"

So without a group that knows how to coordinate their assault, it's just a slaughter. I think I might have read it somewhere else, but it's definitely true in my experience: a good offense requires the entire team to coordinate, but a good defense only requires 2 or 3 of them to team up. And for one of them to be a turret.

This has been my experience as well. Seeing more games where nothing happens offensively because everyone just runs towards the objective blindly and/or splits up and then dies quickly. It can be frustrating playing as support and the team is too far apart to heal people. I also have not heard anyone using a mic since Friday. I'm enjoying this game so much I'm probably to buy a headset myself because there are so many times I want to warn people about someone behind us or the location of a sniper.

I'd love CTF. I also think a 3v3 playlist with smaller versions of maps could be fun.

People will repeatedly tell you that CTF won't work and is impossible. I will repeatedly be there with you wanting it.

Blizzard are smart people. They would know that certain abilities can break flag carrying so they would know to balance around it. Certain abilities could drop the flag (certain movement ones like a Tracer blink or a Reaper teleport maybe), it could be asymmetrical CTF where one team defends the flag and the other tries to cap it. It could be single flag in the middle, it could be symmetrical two flag. It would definitely need balancing and tweaking especially if it was to be part of the rotation for quick play and the like but could certainly be done.

It's fucking sad just how many players have been conditioned by Call of Duty over the years. So many people are shit scared of dying or putting themselves in bad situations for the good of the team.

I mean fucking hell you aren't camping for killstreaks or boasting about your K.D ratio to make up for the fact that you have a small penis. Get on the fucking point!!!

and **breathe**

Well first off: No one on NeoGAF that has a penis has a small one. This has been proven.

But yeah. So often taking action that will certainly result in death can help the team a lot, yet it seems that many players still worry about the ego hit and hang back. Overwatch is definitely the definition of "who dares wins." Pussyfooting around does nothing.

Mostly an issue for randoms. A good team will communicate and resolve these issues. It's when a team of randos goes in looking for glory that things get mixed up. Lots of ppl playing right now. Bound to happen.

Lol for sure. Anubis is weird though, its such a short map that if you take the first point as attackers and still have your ults you can win that match super fast. However, if the defense gets set up that map is a nightmare to attack.

Can Tracer be effective on the attacking side? I feel like I only do well with her when defending.

She's effective on any map/in any role. As long as you can hassle the healers/backliners Tracer is awesome. One of the most frustrating heroes for me when I'm supporting is a good Tracer. She's hard to kill and she does solid damage.

There's no reason why she wouldn't be effective, harassing the back line and stragglers works both on defense and offense. She's really good at keeping the overtime timer alive too.

Most games I get into, my team insists on having TWO Widowmakers.

Just this last match, we had two Widowmakers and one Hanzo. Ugrhgrhrghgrhr

So what map does GAF enjoy/dislike?

Like: Japan

Dislike: Hollywood

If I get hollywood I press esc and leave game.

Like:

Assault maps

Hanamura
Volskaya Industries

Escort maps

Dorado
Route 66
Watchpoint: Gibraltar

Hybrid maps

Hollywood (Assault then Escort)
King's Row (Assault then Escort)
Numbani (Assault then Escort)

Dislike: Every single Control "King of the Hill" Map and ANUBIS. I hate ANUBIS with a burning passion only matched by the creation of the universe itself.

They'll prolly nerf Fan The Hammer pretty soon. I agree that he is a bit much in the hands of a good player, but still not impossible to deal with. That said, the McCree example is not indicative of the reasoning behind most nerf calls. Most of them are just bad players looking for things to blame their bad playing on.

Again, I agree that being able to burn a full-health tank down with a right-click is a bit much. The selfish "I wanna be the best" nerf calls actually diminish the legitimate balance issues that exist because of the McCree meta.

I know what you meant, like people saying mei needs a nerf for instance, and under most circumstances I would agree with, but you said originally that everything was fine and people complaining were just mad or don't pick counters for that character or whatever (paraphrasing), and I was pointing out that your line of argument is what people always try to use when trying to silence actual discussing regarding things the players see as a problem. Obviously you agree with the mcree thing and therefore you went against your initial argument.

On a different note, I would love it if mei ice walls could not be used inside your own spawn or like 3 feet from it (yours not your opponents). We had an OT that was ruined cause some dick weed 14 year old wanted to troll us and used it as we tried to run out and cost us the game

They could also disable/change abilities while the flag is held.

I think playing tracer is much easier on defense but on offensive I found the best way to play is as an annoyance than trying to kill everyone. If everyone if focused on me it allows for my team to move up and kill the defenders.

I can usually carry my team offensively in 80% of games. Most of the time it is a matter of counterpicking certain heros, flanking around and getting on the point to distract everyone, or taking out built-up stuff. That being said, if their defense is on point in those 20% of games then I'm kinda fucked unless someone else starts counter picking well.

My Friend a Good Tracer is incredible on attack. she can single handily turn games around with her hit and run bs. Blink in destroy turrets, harass/kill supports, you pretty much make the defense defend from all angles of approach.

It's just a matter of getting better with her and map knowledge.

I guess that game where Torb's turrets were wiping me out so easily scarred me. I'll have to try it again.

On Anubis it's kind of rough because the door is usually guarded tight, but if the rest of the team runs enough interference you can usually get in through the right and there's a few healthpacks in there to sustain.

The other maps are pretty easy to get in, especially Numbani and Hollywood

Fair enough. I worded it poorly and presented my argument in a sloppy manner. I should have been more specific and not so broad-stroke.

My shitty ideas for balance changes:

-Increase the spread on Bastion's turret at long range.
-Increase the cooldown on Torbjorn's turret, Increase the damage at lvl1 but require scrap to increase it to level 2.
-Increase the damage drop off at range for McCree. Increase the cooldown for flashbang.
-Increase Zenyatta's base health by 50 shield points.
-Increase the cooldown for Lucio's amp up.
-Slightly increase the DPS of Winston's main gun, but increase the speed in which it chews through ammo.
-Give Symmetra the ability to re-use Photon Shield on allies in order to immediately recharge their shield. Add a cooldown to it.
-Reduce the damage on Junkrat's RIPtire. Increase the health by 50.
-Reduce the size of DVa's headshot hitbox.
-Reduce the hitbox of Hanzo's arrows. Increase charge speed and arrow movement speed.

Just my thoughts.

McCree and Mei are both champions who are pick orientated. If you want to duel them on the flanks pick a proper duelist who can deal with their kit. If they catch a Mercy or Torbjorn or Bastion heading back to the fight alone they're supposed to be able to dispatch them easily.

Oh definitely, like I said people have been conditioned that kills and deaths mean everything. Nothing worse than being Winston and trying your best to cause a massive distraction with your shield/jumping/rage mechanics only to look behind you and see everybody else trying to pot-shot the enemy whilst we tick down in to a defeat.

So whats the best way to counter Mei when shes just using her ice wall to block the transport?

Finished a match where this guy would just ice wall the transport and block it, then go into the ice shield mode, then as soon as she came out drop another ice wall blocking the transport.

Also, where does it say what colors correspond to how rare? My first loot box got me explorer Winston, which was like a gold/yellow color I think.

I can vouch for that, especially for tanks with shields - blink behind them and blast them until dead.

Yup the time I have seen widowmakers or hanzos standing miles from clutch objective moments is killing me

This is starting to get to me, too. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one throwing myself on a capture point, over and over, every time passing the whole team who are skirmishing elsewhere in the map.

The worst is in Hanamura, attacking the last point with 1 minute to go, and Widowmaker is just stood up by the windows... We don't need a sniper now. Please.

I'm gonna join the GAF community tonight, looking to play with others from East Asia.

Do people here play across regions? If so, how's the latency?

last game i just played (payload)

let's not go near the payload. IDK what both team was doing but i just sat on it as it moved. still lost but man. #GOTP

The payload just runs through the wall, as long as your team is pushing the payload it'll break the Ice Wall down.

The whole point of the "ults blow you up" thing is you use them as siege breakers or shutting down a siege. To take away the ability for ultimates to quickly dispatch multiple enemies when use correctly would make the gameplay a lot more stale.

Sooooooo many times this. I played a lot of Widowmaker when I first started, but I've pretty much ignored her recently. There are just so many better options, especially on Attack. I can see the rationale of picking Hanzo (mostly because of his ult and its usefulness for clearing out an entrenched defense), but there's just no good reason for Widowmaker on Attack.

It was him being by the payload, not the ice wall.

Balance ideas

Make Widowmaker's shot instantly charged
Give Bastion his shield back
Increase Lucio's pushback on alt fire by 4000%
Allow Genji infinite reflect time
Allow McCree's flashbang to be fired from his gun for increased range
Allow Symmetra's turrets to also heal her team
Give Torjbjorn unlimited turret capacity

The payload does not care about the icewall. It does care about enemy players being near it.

Originally, I bought a 24 loot crate pack last night. After, my initial 24 loot crate I continued to purchase another 24 pack. Blizzard what have you done?

But I'm so happy I got the Mach.T Tracer Skin :D
