Good scores and it seems like Persona 5 really hit it out of the park!
This game will probably push me to get a ps4 this year.

Jim and the game is too big for a console is complete bullshit/clickbait he's just trying to get clicks. Witcher 3, gta5, skyrim, etc arent ever docked for not being portable.... I have no idea why he gets taken seriously when he just does it for the views

Eh, they do write 7.0 next to the 3.5 stars, so they're participating in a 10 point scale regardless.

It's so weird when people try to say a 5 star system with half stars is different than a 10 point system.

Yes, this is for the western peasants because japan got these in 2015 or 16 and console exclusive being purposely vague because some came on PS3 and also.

All this to say, we cannot even today, match the glorious PS2 era.

What a crazy year for games so far.

I can't wait to get into Persona 5. I didn't think it would be this high tbh, these kind of games seem to be for a more particular audience. But the more the better. :D

Not so much derail, but posters getting too upset or something along those lines. Like say....posting a link to the reviewer's twitter or something.

Games don't start at 10 and get docked. Please learn how reviews work before you comment on them.

I would personally welcome people saying, "Look at all the great JRPG games we've been getting: Persona 5, FFXV, Nier, Zelda" instead of "Reasons why this Japanese game is better than this other Japanese game."

The slight portable port-begging in some reviews is somewhat understandable in this case considering that in the west at least I'm sure more people got into the series through the PSP/Vita ports than the original, mostly because while the Vita was just about DOA here the original launched on PS2 in 2008, years after most people had moved on to the next generation.

And honestly I'd be shocked if there wasn't a Persona 5 Crimson for Switch in a year or two.

Well this is embarrassing.

He doesn't even get ad revenue. She just said she loved Persona 4 on the Vita, and wishes 5 was on a portable system. She feels like it fits portable systems. I don't disagree with her, this would be a great Switch game. If you disagree with the score, you can just ignore it and look at reviews that mention things you care about?

He's had a lot of really weak moments in recent months/years imo. Still like his work but increasing numbers of his arguments just make me grimace. Edit: i know LKD wrote it but it's the same sort of rhetoric Jim has produced recently. Real metonym stuff.

And I hate comparisons but it's fair.

FFXV is worse than all those games...and it's worse than FFXIII too which it is also sitting under on Metacritic

Still a great game though of course.

To anyone getting Persona 5, there are already people in social media who are spoiling the game to others with the review embargo. Proceed to the internet cautiously.

I'm saying, from now on I'm expecting her to be consistent with her game criticism if game X is not playable on a portable game machine. I used RDR2 as just an example. Also I was being sarcastic

Also good to see that long development time doesn't automatically equal some misdirected mess.
For me, all four of these games: Persona 5, Nioh*, FFXV, The Last Guardian - show that even with long development and/or some issues in the production process the final product can still turn out great.

Not to make things more tense, but this is one game where you really don't wanna get spoiled. The revelations, and twists are top tier.

Laura Kate Dale did the review on The Jimquisition.

And if we're being real, publications whose top score is a 10 very frequently use different floors for the lowest possible score, which means the '10 point system' is not a concept with a stable definition on its own. This was at the core of the misunderstanding that caused a lot of zelda fans to lose their minds at Jim Sterling not that long ago.

Why? We can't compare anymore? Sorry but look at all these great games just isn't an attitude that's super fruitful for discussion. As long as people make good comparisons and frame them logically you can get interesting insight. That said not the right thread for it I'd agree.
