So Clinton's team send out a story through the NY Times about her shift in tone and newfound sense of humor, and then proceed to send out a "funny" tweet she obviously did not write. If you're going to shift gears, why not just do it instead of announcing it to the world first? I saw David Axelrod criticize her team for this and I agree. Amateur hour.

She really reminds me of Romney.
Because she loses either way. Any authenticity twist gets called fake and any lack of authenticity gets demands the need for it which gets us to the former.

So she's running a perfect campaign then?

Did Clinton saying he regretted blowing a load on Lewinski finally kill most of the coverage over it? Should play out the same way here.

And yes, lying, etc etc

Its gonna be the story till the voting starts then most of the emails will be out, she'll have testified, and the story will be old news.

There's still going to be a lot of rough water ahead. There's a lot of emails to check and they'll be constant stories about "new revelations" or reports.

One nice thing: if she survives this, she gets a nice "comeback kid" narrative out of it.

Or would that be "Comeback Granny?" Is there such a thing? There needs to be such a thing.

The next PoliGAF thread should use "A few unpaid interns" as the title good grief

that guy in that thread had me laughing.

I don't know man. The first batch of e-mails was huge in terms of number but nothing in it was newsworthy.

If what she's been saying is true that the e-mails don't contain nuclear secrets being tossed around or something like that, then what more can they go after? Even the now classified stuff is stuff along the lines of what diplomat A said about diplomat B. Seems like the media is going after stuff that they can just gossip around. Like what was this IT staffer REALLY up to? Why was he paid by them?

The story will end when all the emails are out and all investigations are finished( FBI, State Dept, lawsuits, & Benghazi testimony)

This issue isn't going to bed till all the emails are out is all I'm saying.

I really love this shot. Confession, I have always been a Hillary fan from when I was a child in the 90s. Not gonna lie, I was pretty upset when she lost in '08. She'll definitely pull through this time! Also lol Druuuuuudge.

I don't get how something like this can happen.

That's what makes special elections so special. Magic!

edit: Slightly more seriously...the last election for this seat had 11,000 votes. This one had less than 5,000. Whenever the voter difference is that strong, you can assume that only people who felt very strongly turned out -- and that probably always favors the outsider candidate, especially in a state that's already heavily dominated by one party.

Adverse selection meets democracy!

Wtf. To think I used to have respect for this guy...

As Europe grapples with the mass migration of more than 300,000 refugees fleeing war in Syria, Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker won’t say whether the United States should open its doors to absorb more of the migrants.

Walker’s reason for not taking a stand is that he says it would be hypothetical for him to do so since he is not currently the president.

“I'm not president today and I can't be president today,” the Republican presidential candidate and Wisconsin governor said when asked by ABC News during a press gaggle on Monday what he would to address the current refugee crisis if he were president currently. “Everybody wants to talk about hypotheticals; there is no such thing as a hypothetical.”

UNINTIMIDATED.

Are you fucking kidding?

I wonder if his handlers just told him "Seriously, don't fucking answer anything until you run it by us. Nothing. Not a goddamned thing, Scott.

"Scott, you must avoid answering questions moving forward."
"You mean 'gotcha questions,' Master?"
"No, you dipshit, all questions. You're too fucking stupid to answer them, just say some bullshit."
"Sure thing, Master!"

I would be surprised if this doesn't hurt him more. We already had quotes from Republican donors saying "He's been on all three sides of every two-sided issue" and, "he can't seem to find his way on any given issue with a handheld GPS."

This man's not a leader, and even his party is seeing that. Apparently letting the Koch brothers shove their hands up your ass works for a state, but not for the presidency.

He's polling at like 3%, there's no lower to go.

He either takes every possible position on an issue or none at all.

But I guess there's still some time for him. People don't really care if anyone has a plan on stuff by now. Problem is that winning Iowa or South Carolina during the primaries doesn't hinge on our policy towards the refugee crisis, sadly. But by the time the general election debate rolls around, yeah he better be on his toes.

Yeah, I don't think him not having a plan specifically on this issue would hurt him with voters, but it really does signify more bad things with him and his campaign to donors and some of the higher up backers in the party. If I were in their shoes, even if I kinda liked what he did in Wisconsin, I'd be scared of donating to him.

You're right, I overlooked that. The Kochs are probably having a buyer's remorse. It's also about jostling for donations and trying to seem most "electable" out of all the lot.

I said this months ago--the guy never answers ANYTHING. He dodges every question.

Everyone makes jokes about Diablos and his constant panic attacks, but a lot of people in the thread buy into the hype machine around GOP candidates as well and never bother to look any deeper. The Walker and Christie fears are the two prime examples of this. Neither of them should have ever gotten anyone into a panic and yet it happened.
