Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Biden should have been the nominee.

Yet again, I was bashed for saying goes this in here as well as few months back. He had no baggage. Exponentially better candidate.

Those rural people want an end to neo-liberal trade deals and an end to washington corruption. Those people were interested in Bernie. Some of them are racist xenophobes who would've gone Trump regardless, sure, but a lot of them were disenfranchised, poor, working class people.

Dems have to stop blaming them and adopt an anti-corruption/wall street platform that would explain to them the real enemies are bankers, not immigrants.

Yes, anti-corruption voters elected Donald Trump, whose entire life has been built around self-dealing. What has Trump said he would do about wall street? Almost nothing, just take away the carried interest loophole while giving them a massive income tax break.

People voted for Trump because he's going build a wall and make America great again. Sanders didn't run on any of that. You're taking your beliefs and grafting them on to Trump's supporters without any evidence because it fits your agenda.

For the people doubting if Bernie would have done better: He would have won.

Why? He's a white man. Much of the Midwestern rural vote tonight was because they didn't want a woman leading them.
Possibly but he never had minority support and gave up on the south. Has a terrible primary strategy. No point in arguing that now.

Whelp, those that argued for accelerationism for progressive ideals will soon see if their theory holds

They're about to see everything they've ever hoped for die.

A Supreme Court against them for decades.

Republicans in control of the federal government and a vast majority of state governments will gerrymander and suppress voting without hindrance.

End of any environmental regulation.

End of any shared wealth improvements.

Does anyone buy this?

Well, she preferred a Donald Trump presidency to Clinton so she could fight the powah.

Guys so just out of curiosity, can I have someone who's knowledgeable of the current situation tell me what clinton needs to win in order to beat trump now? and are the odds stacked heavily against her or is it still a toss up?

She needs to hold Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. If Trump pries away one of them it's over.

What's the point of telling people to organize and shit?

The turnout is up. The bigots in rural and suburban counties found their authoritarian bigot to follow.

What could have been done to stop him? This isn't an issue of turnout. It's an issue of EDUCATION AND RACE.

Absolutely nothing.

I do not understand how this country can elect Obama twice in a row and then turn around and possibly elect Trump.

I'm lost in a fog.

Bernie appealed to the same demographic that gave trump the winning. It was really obvious. The enthusiasms wasn't there.

Ugh. I fucking hate this.

So, just to be clear. The logic is: Bernie would have taken away a part of the base that gave Trump the win even though there's no real indication they would have done so?

Okay, that's just like a agree to disagree thing.

The Republicans control every other fucking branch too.

I get that, but Trump has alienated a lot of people even within his own party. He ran and acted like an outsider, and we have elections for the House and Senate again in two years. I personally dislike any one political party controlling all three branches, but the Republican party as it is now isn't totally together.

No it won't. We couldn't work together to defeat this shitstain Trump.

This will probably continue to trigger the backfire effect in you but... dems are coming out to vote in very good numbers. That means that they did manage to work together.

as has been repeatedly said, the problem is all the fucking white people

My future is completely fucked. I am barely on my feet. My insurance is going to get ripped out from underneath me. Student loans are suffocating me and the Supreme Court is lost for the next several decades.

It's over.

Take some solace in at least knowing that the socialist analysis was correct. The Democrats are going to need to revamp. We have to take this moment to show them the way.

It isn't just a woman. A woman that couldn't outreach to their demographic. Bernie did, even Warren might have done better.

Everyone on gaf including myself needs to hold the biggest possible L.

This will revitalize the left in this country. We needed a good kick in the ass, and we got it.

It will significantly revitalize the right. The left is inherently self-dividing by nature. The right is the opposite.

All Republicans right now are thinking about either quitting or supporting Trump to keep their seats.

Dems aren't getting out of this even if there was a civil war, anything like that would still play in Trump's favor.

I can't see Dems winning in four years. This will take some serious time.

That's true, but also because he is on the same playing field as Trump -- a relative outsider to the establishment. Except he has the experience and the principles to be a fantastic president, so he would have beat Trump into the ground.

Bernie or Biden would have won this race. Sorry.

Except wouldn't a Trump victory vindicate Republican fears if they don't step into line they'll be primaried by their voting populace?

Tragedy that lead to another tragedy. But fuck that. This makes it seem like this is on Biden. No, the party ran against Donald grab them by the pussy Trump and lost. What else can you say to that? Something went terribly wrong.

They'll bend over easily for their constituents - it's how the tea party got in power in the first place.
