I'm probably going to lose my health insurance.

On the plus side I guess that is one less bill I have to pay.

I feel like I have let everyone around me down. Like I didn't do enough.

So are we going to give Nate "Bronze" some credit here or is he still a whiny incompetent trash baby? In spite of all the crap polls forcing his model to point towards Clinton's direction he was still far closer than literally any other pollster.

This is the one "I told you so" moment I get to have, don't ruin it for me.

Politically speaking what can Congress Democrats do to limit the damage a Trump presidency will do?

Filibuster if the republicans don't nuke it, but it's likely they will.

Other than that, all they can do is campaign for 2018.

There's no one sentence answer to how this disaster played out. I'm more concerned about my Jewish friends, my lesbian sister, and the 10% hispanic population in my city that's about to get torn asunder.

Is pluralism dead for good?

My dad and mother are both here illegally, they have been here for 20 years...this might be the last few months we spend together.

I'm sick to my stomach and I feel like vomiting. At least most of you will be able to go on with your day to day lives.

I'm disgusted right now.

I've got to be honest--you all in here talking about the democrats moving right are completely wrong.

The democrats need to move further left. Start promising things to people. Free health care. No taxes under $55000 income. Universal income. THAT is how you get back rural whites.

Literally nothing. Republicans are going to nuke the filibuster first thing and then run roughshod over everything.

We must move further left. Unless things go absolutely catastrophic in the first 4 years that make the middle more appealing to that rural white vote they need to be driven.

Going, "well maybe we can just leave all those gay rights stuff to the states." won't help. If the dem's go that way then they'll end up being the party that needs to be destroyed all along.

The two ideological extremes are the most popular sides right now. Conflict will arise and the left needs to be in power or be prepared to pay with blood. The clock started tonight.

I'm conflicted on this. You would think moving more center would be the right play, but Trump got a lot of support not so much because he was a hard Conservative, but because he was not what people consider the status quo.

The Left might do well with a more "Left" like candidate like a Bernie Sanders in the future. I said "like", not him of course.

Excitement wins every election

trump had it and Hillary didn't. That's it.

I regret my primary vote and I will never vote in the same way I did this election ever ever again
You need a message and you need a vision for the nation.

All Hilary had to work for her was a glass ceiling that while historic wouldn't change the status quo of Washington.

And Trump is the ultimate fuck you vote to everyone in Washington.

When do we realistically think this thing is done? I've been up since 5:30, and I've got a job to do at 5:30 tomorrow.

Who knows. Just go to bed. Save your money.

Totally agree but you know that won't happen.

Ok, and we will be heading towards accelerationism.

It will get ugly real quick.

We are already heading down the accelerationist path. Trump is the embodiment of acceleration.

There can never be compromise with fascists. They must be opposed every step of the way.

The Dems need to do what the GOP did for Obama's entire presidency - resist everything and work up their base.

I don't even know how to feel right now.

I can't even process what's happened. Polling was off by so much, it's as if it never even existed. I don't even know what's going on, it feels unreal. There was no data for this. Nothing indicated this was going to happen. I don't function well without data. When it doesn't add up and doesn't work out in my head how something like this happened. I sort of just shut down.
This is where I'm at too. I know I'm distraught over this but I can't really feel it because I'm so flabbergasted about what happened here. It's like nothing ever mattered: the debates, the dozens of reported scandals, the Dem surrogates, the data, the polls, the GOTV, the coalition, Obama's entire presidency. None of it mattered. What the fuck do you do with that? How do we build from that?

Also: debates don't matter, GOTV doesn't matter, gaffes don't matter, qualifications don't matter

Yup.

It's now okay to:

1) Sexually assault women
2) Be a racist
3) Be a sexist
4) Threaten to jail your political opponents
5) Threaten and mock journalists and newspapers
6) Be a politician but know nothing about policy
This is the scary part. What Obama did for hope and change, Trump does for hate and fear.
Fascism is knocking on our door and about to enter. This is a brave new world for the US politically, socially and economically. We've never experienced anything like this before.

From Facebook. Need a video but not that hard to believe.

Journalist friend of mine is covering official Trump victory party in Manhattan and the crowd is chanting "no more Muslims no more blacks, we're gonna get our country back."
America 2016. This is who you voted for.

Fight how? We're going to have President Trump with a Republican controlled Senate, House, and Supreme Court, along with a majority of states under Republican control. We're simply outnumbered here. We're completely fucked and there's literally nothing we can do.

2018: Vote midterms. Start local, build up.

Voting midterms should now be the full focus, it starts tomorrow.

So my only vague hope is that Trump nominates his sister, who is apparently surprisingly liberal? Hopefully folks here know more since I honestly don't have a clue about her, just remember reading that not too long ago.

So are we going to give Nate "Bronze" some credit here or is he still a whiny incompetent trash baby? In spite of all the crap polls forcing his model to point towards Clinton's direction he was still far closer than literally any other pollster.

He's completely vindicated. People are gonna write books on this election, and he's gonna be the primary source for the Great Systemic Polling Error

Until rural Republican whites understand that their Party is undermining them this is unlikely to happen.

Yeah I mean whether it is true or not, the voters don't seem to care. I mean yeah a lot of people will be angry with Trump when he fails to accomplish most of what he promised, but, he still won in the end.

Hey guys.

I'm crushed, obviously. I've been felt so devastated in my entire life, which I guess I've been lucky, but it really feels right now like everything is gone. I mean, climate change. The surpreme court for our lifetimes.

I feel so, so bad for Obama. This country has treated him like garbage.

And I feel so, so bad for Hillary. She would have been a great president. And beyond that, she was already villified and that is going to go to x100000 and stay there for the rest of her life. Because she "let" this happen.

I feel like America has died and I'm not one to be hyperbolic. Sorry.

So where do we honestly go from here? This isn't just a GOP led SCOTUS, Congress and Presidency. This is a post-Tea Party GOP with Donald Trump at the helm. How low will be truly go?

The only silver lining is Trump may be such a say all, do nothing that he might NOT do anything and just revel in being President. Still means crap all around but may not be beyond disastrous.

He's right for the wrong reasons.

He was uncertain because of the undecided vote. That wasn't the case.

He wasn't predicting this massive rural white surge, because no-one was and no polls were.

No, that's how you get the rural whites up in arms about a government of entitlements. Not to mention moving far left on issues like gun control leaves that demographic even more scorned.

If the Supreme Court didn't exist, I'd say that the next four years will educate everyone in the middle in terms of realizing just who the fuck they voted for, but knowing that we lose it for decades is hurting my heart in ways I didn't know that it could. We are fucked.

LOL you have no idea how rural whites work if you think those things will attract them.

You think the rural whites want anything that resembles socialism? You can't talk actual policy with them.

Remember what was leaked about Kasich. We're getting President Pence and Trump gets to have his coveted title. We'll see.

Let it.

Burn the shit to ashes.

And let hundreds of thousands of people have to file for bankruptcy due to medical debt? With a GOP controlled government? That's crazy.

Won't work, unless you attach a dog whistle to it.

And that's why I don't know what to do moving forward.
