You guys think Trump will put Hillary in jail?

I bet he tries and get damn close to doing it. This fucking guy is now going to try and prove him self. The fact he is now positioned to having proven everyone wrong by doing it his way makes us getting fucked even more likely.

In trying to look at some kind of positivity in this disaster, I find myself in legit tears looking at some of the posts of solidarity on Twitter, like this:

Dear Muslims, Immigrants, Women, Disabled, and All People of Color,

I love you - boldly and proudly. We will endure. We will not break.

Like, fuck me, that's powerful stuff. These next 4 years are going to be some of the craziest (and worst) years in US history. But don't give up. I'm not good at this shit but seriously some of you need to come back from the ledge. There are literally millions of Americans out there that are just as devastated as you are.

Not trying to sound like some "everything will be okay" kinda guy because holy fucking shit it turns out that yeah, racism won. But it's not like people aren't going to keep fighting, even in the face of whatever the GOP decides to do next. I'm forreal re-examining my life right now. No more complacency for me.

PS (since I keep refreshing the page before I post this) fuck moving to the right. I considered myself more moderate when I went for Clinton over Sanders but if this is the result we get then fuck that. And I'm not blaming Clinton for this either. Socialism all the way, baby.

The only silver lining is Trump may be such a say all, do nothing that he might NOT do anything and just revel in being President. Still means crap all around but may not be beyond disastrous.

It's certainly possible he only stays for one term if what they say about his attention span is true. Not betting on it but it is something to wonder.

Also: debates don't matter, GOTV doesn't matter, gaffes don't matter, qualifications don't matter

It's like the golden ticket to the white house has been through racism this entire time and he's the first to use it, and that scares me with how effective it was.

Nothing else matters as long as you go against the "others"

The ultra right-wing wave that has been sweeping the western world lately cannot be understated. I don't like where we're heading.

I've got to be honest--you all in here talking about the democrats moving right are completely wrong.

The democrats need to move further left. Start promising things to people. Free health care. No taxes under $55000 income. Universal income. THAT is how you get back rural whites.

This is delusional. You have no clue if you think any of this would appeal to rural whites.

You know, as much as I really didn't want that fuckstick orange cheeto to win, I also honestly wanted Hillary to win. Sure, i wasn't her biggest fan, but for all the shit she suffered through, not just in this election, but for the past 30 years, ever since she entered government, she really deserved to win.

Same shit happened in 2000. It's like we can only get 8 good years because the 18-25 demo is coddled during their teenage and college years.

Yeah, I thought of this. People get complacent during periods of success and are delusional to how bad things can get. Feels like we are doomed to boom and bust cycles forever.

We are already heading down the accelerationist path. Trump is the embodiment of acceleration.

There can never be compromise with fascists. They must be opposed every step of the way.

The Dems need to do what the GOP did for Obama's entire presidency - resist everything and work up their base.

Time for me to invest in automation companies then.

Squeeze them dry.

My fascist dad who supported Trump 100% just called me in a fit of desperation that he's going to lose all of his retirement money.

Honestly, I'm a bit gleeful after that call because, jesus christ, how did you not see this coming, dumbfuck?

LOL you have no idea how rural whites work if you think those things will attract them.

You think the rural whites want anything that resembles socialism? You can't talk actual policy with them.

That's why we LOST. Too far left

No offense, but I was the only one in this thread who called how rural whites were going to vote in the Midwest this election. Give me a break. I know what I'm talking about. I know how these people think. I've lived around them my entire life. This stuff actually appeals to them.

This is where I'm at too. I know I'm distraught over this but I can't really feel it because I'm so flabbergasted about what happened here. It's like nothing ever mattered: the debates, the dozens of reported scandals, the Dem surrogates, the data, the polls, the GOTV, the coalition, Obama's entire presidency. None of it mattered. What the fuck do you do with that? How do we build from that?

Also: debates don't matter, GOTV doesn't matter, gaffes don't matter, qualifications don't matter

Also zero experience in any of the positions that might help prepare you for the Presidency like government.

Like what the fuck does that mean for the country? Again, Trump isn't Jeb or Kasich!

UGH, most of my career years are going to be affected by this :(

Running isn't really an option many of us really have. Words of running are just people venting.

Good point. Even if you can run, you shouldn't abandon the ones who can't. We need all of us, especially those of us in minority communities who are going to receive a lot of hate and discrimination in the next four years.

Yeah... She must be gutted by it all. I do hope Bill is giving her a big hug, and saying it all be okay.

Until rural Republican whites understand that their Party is undermining them this is unlikely to happen.

Yeah, last time we waited for poor white agrarian farmers to learn their economic overbears were exploiting them they just ended up fighting in a civil war on behalf of those economic overbears, who lost their slaves but kept all the money.

I wonder what gun sales will do this time around.... I bet more liberals will start utilizing their Second Amendment rights.

I'm holding out hope for a miracle. It's too depressing to think of anything else. We need 5 justices to hold for 4 year, but who knows with Kennedy.

I'm worried about my dad & his side of the family because of this. I hope that whatever happens they're still able to stay in this country.

I feel like really liberal states are gonna have to go even further left to fight this bullshit. The DOJ won't help out with discrimination and the police now. Gotta sort that shit out yourself. Same with abortion, education, wages. People are gonna have to find their own Scotland somewhere. By the way doesn't the ACA have some kind of clause that lets states set up a public option?

Fuck nothing.

MSNBC was saying that Schumer can try to obstruct like a motherfucker, that only buys us two years though.

From Facebook. Need a video but not that hard to believe.

--------

Journalist friend of mine is covering official Trump victory party in Manhattan and the crowd is chanting "no more Muslims no more blacks, we're gonna get our country back."
America 2016. This is who you voted for.

-------

I'll be damned if I find myself in one of these fucking deep red or light red states for the next 4-8 years.

I want to know what hurt Hillary most:

1. Hidden vote in rural areas by pandering to the worst in US society
2. Comey's last minute bullshit blunting a surge in Dem momentum during the final hour
3. Third party candidates

I think all three of these played in big role, but the question is what exactly pushed Trump over the top? I won't be able to move on from this until I know.

Fascism is knocking on our door and about to enter. This is a brave new world for the US politically, socially and economically. We've never experienced anything like this before.
lol, look at what Wilson did during his war of choice.

And then there's FDR.

Something to consider, a lot of those voters have shown to be hostile to "welfare" in part because everybody would get them not just them. Any reform for better healthcare and what not will have to apply to everybody. How do you resolve this issue?

My biggest question is this: Will republicans actually overturn Roe v. Wade? They've used the abortion argument to their advantage for decades. If they overturn it, that boogeyman is gone.

They don't care about any of that shit. What matters most to them is socking it to minorities.

Someone at Vox had a great article showing that a generous welfare state didn't do shit to stop the growing right-wing authoritarian streak in a ton of European countries.

I can understand black support going down from Obama to Clinton, 93 to 88, but how did Latino support go down, 71 to 65? How are there 35% of Latinos who voted, directly or not, for Trump? What the fuck?

Need to see the age break down here. I'll admit I'm a tad jaded towards Baby Boomers as a whole, but I'm really wondering if they were the catalyst here...

And as an elder millennial, screw all the younger ones who didn't come and vote. This set back any of Bernie's ideals back decades...

It wasn't third party candidates, votes for them were surprisingly low except among the youth.

You're the one with no clue. They needed another new deal with radical changes. They could have been sold on that, blaming Wall St.

Instead they were sold on facist law and order blaming foreign entities and minorities.

The radical left will be the best hope for America going forward whether through voting or through conflict.

From my interactions, they're against welfare because of individual cases. They are much more open to ideas of universal income, Medicaid for all, etc.

They will have the seats in the court to do it espically if RBG dies in the next 4 years.

If they overturn it, the boogeyman will be reinstating Roe v Wade. Nothing changes unless the Democrats give up fighting for reproductive rights.

I would say that's a good way to get millions of young women mobilized against them.

Of course, who the fuck knows after tonight.
