i really didn't know there were so many racist/sexist/xenophobic white people around these days. this result is startling exactly for that reason.
losing pennsylvania of all places is the one fucking thing that shouldn't have happened. hell, minnesota is close. where the actual fuck did all these people come from?
Yeah, I won't deny that the time for this was forty years ago. I'm not sure how it's possible with the state of the current Republican Party.

Hillary was a worse candidate than Trump. Trump has a shitload of flaws but he had a clear message that resonated with voters.
This wasn't so much a failure of campaigns as she was vastly better funded and organized. This is on her.

There's going to be soooooooooooooo much pressure on the few moderate R senators to not cast the deciding votes on things that they know will destroy the country.
So millions of people probably thought it was in the bag and stayed home. Lovely.
She will, but everyone learned from Gore's mistake conceding way too early. Nobody is hurt by letting all the votes be counted.

People will say this, but he won because he directly appealed to a large part of the electorate. I fucking hate Trump, but he was apparently a great candidate for a large part of the population (esp in swing states).
Yep even if we can bounce back, how do we defeat white rural America?!. And for that matter how much will bleed with all the irreversible damage that is about to be done?. It's hard to be optimistic when we are in the darkest timeline and there's no way out.

Trump brough out general election voters in the primary. Wrong.
Trump wouldn't crack the blue wall. Wrong.
There was systemic polling errors.

Assuming this holds, are we so sure there was really record turnout from rural whites as opposed to the turnout from democratic voters falling? Trump isn't looking like he'll match the number of votes Romney got.
To be fair, that 54% statistic is basically trash now.

Maybe the next strategy to increase turnout should be to get a bunch of celebrities together to tell people: "Don't vote, it's not a big deal."

How do we square this with record turnout in FL other states? Did Trump really turn out the white vote like crazy or did the Obama coalition not turn out at 2008/2012 levels?
