New Hampshire is ridiculously close for the Presidential and Senate races. I hope my states goes D for both, despite that it will make no real difference.

So now what?

Putin is salivating at the prospect of Russia retaking eastern Europe

NATO will be gutted.

Climate change is now a hoax

Gay marriage will come under attack

Etc.

Congress has the power to declare war.

I don't see Congress allowing NATO to collapse. Will be interesting to see what happens if Trump doesn't want a war, but congress declares war anyways.

Hopefully Congress decides to take all of their war making powers back this presidency...

Diablos. If it's some very, very small solace. I will request a new tag for you of your choice. No guarantees you'll get it.
This read is flawed. Reading the electorate like this is what made this situation happen and nothing will be fixed by stubbornly calling 50 million people racists. Is not only the racism, is the anti establishment charisma that Clinton lacked since she became First Lady.

This was so fucking evident since October last year. But yeah, Clinton and allies didn't listen.
Poppycock. It is white, predominately male, straight voters that delivered this nightmare.
Not because blablahblah outsider nonsense. It's an outsider who says what I want to say and hear about Mexicans.

This was straight, white, males, block voting like minorities.

I know that feeling. I stopped coming to poligaf because of the proliferation of posts claiming Clinton was a better choice than Bernie because pragmatism/centrism wins elections, (in a year where the vast majority of the country hates congress/politicians/wall street?? somehow?).

A socialist Jew is not the answer to Trump's (now appearing to be decisive but limited) rural white surge. His economic policies might have turned off suburban independents, too.

It's pointless speculation.

We couldn't count on those people to vote against Donald fucking Trump, those people cannot be relied up

Because the alternative was Clinton, someone they thought was almost as bad. Here in WA, I was shocked by the amount of liberals that were basically spouting off Republican propaganda about Clinton.

Seems like there is a lot of evidence coming out that Clinton win can be traced to lack of enthusiasm and not just rural shit lords.

I think the lack of enthusiasm could also help explain the large systemic bias. People were saying they'd vote for Clinton, but then never bothered to.

Right? It was so fucking evident since last year. The Clinton side didn't want to listen. Lol pragmatism. Lol centrism. Lol liberalism.

Realistically how many SC seats did the GOP just gain? Scalia's is lost to us now; how many more will open up in the next four years if liberal justices try to hold out?

If you believe that rural white people are racist because liberals say mean things about them on fucking video game forums, then it's pretty clear you've never actually spent time in rural America. That shit is entrenched.

Not sure really even what to feel right now.

I guess whatever happens next, I really have no idea. I certainly did not ever expect this to be what happened next. So maybe I'm wrong about the step after.

Luck to us all.

Certainly hope so cause my wife and I are starting to apply to jobs out there to get the fuck out of Florida. My brother lives in San Jose so that's going to help is narrow our s search
Brother me and the fiancée did almost the same thing

Me and her were both nurses in Miami...got paid and treated like shit...did travel nursing and ended up in Sunnyvale.

Rent is stupid expensive here but as a nurse I get paid a hell of a lot more than in Florida and working under a union (for the first time ever) guarantees us better working conditions

No, I don't think other counterfactual candidates would have won either - UNLESS - they were also able to appeal to white rural racists. His victory appears to be due to running up the margins with a wave of these voters, many that don't normally vote. And that's not something that a Warren, a Bernie or even a more conservative Biden stops.

Trump has resonated with a dark, hateful part of the electorate.

his victory also coincides with democrats not turning out like they did for obama in 2008 and 2012. there might have been more voters out there for hillary, but they could have thought their states were safe, or they weren't enthusiastic about voting.

i'm talking about the midwest, mainly. i haven't compared other states like fl and nc. she would have won with the midwest though. that was the firewall and it turns out it didn't exist.

Ginsburg has had health issues. I don't see her making it to 2020. Obama should just give a middle finger to the GOP and do a recess appointment of Garland.

I'm crying and I'm drinking.

This is a new one for me. I'm drinking. My fathers and alcoholic. And abusive one. And here I am. I'm no better than him. fuck me. fuck me. my brother drinks, causes problems because of it. here I am. I'm drinking. Half bottle of vodka down. oh my god.

Cause their party is more interested in jerking over themselves than listening to them. That's what breaks the spirit of their voters and they stay home.

I disagree. Voters stayed home because they didn't feel "100%" behind the nominee. They felt that they "weren't being represented" because they disagreed with one or two things Hillary had said or done.

Meanwhile, Republicans line up behind Trump because they agree with one or two policies. They line up behind him because, unlike idealistic democrats, they actually vote and know what a vote means and how powerful it can be, despite the fact they may have issues with their candidate.

If Democratic turnout was low, it's because of voters, full stop. Dems ran the most inclusive campaign I've seen, both in policy and in practice. It's not their fault people don't turn out because Hillary voted for the Iraq war a decade ago, or her husband voted for NAFTA, or whatever the fuck it was they took issue with.

Idealism and feeling "morally pure" don't mean shit when you're willing to give up the keys to the castle to a orange fuckwit. It's just words and a fleeting sense of misguided self-respect....and we're all going to pay for it.

It was a good run the last 2 years leading up to this, poligaf. Lets stay strong and fight back against the onslaught of bullshit that is coming our way.

man, I dunno, I'm gonna wait for more numbers come out before saying anything else about it.

Chill homie

We all are going to be ok. It def sucks now but tell your love ones you love them and live your life regardless of your leader.

Well a rapist, racist, misogynist shitlord was able to do it, why would a socialist Jew wouldn't? He won the same demos made Trump president. Plus the de facto vote form minorities...blah, pointless speculation.

Scintillating hot takes.

Much of America is fucked.
I was completely wrong, as was every prognosticator. I'm okay with that. But I'm sad for the people affected by this.
White rural racists apparently don't need to have their doors knocked.
Trump sounds like he's accepting an Oscar.

I guess we will have to wait for all the data after the fact, but seems like a lot less people voted, including a lot of liberals. Think a case could be made that the loss was due to lack of enthusiasm and/or the need for an anti-establishment candidate. Maybe Biden wouldn't be that, but he'd probably do a better job appealing to the ex-factory workers in the rust belt.

First things first, the DNC needs a massive overhaul.
Go to Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania.

Figure out what the fuck happened.

Talk to the people there. Both Democrats and Republicans.

And then figure out the GOP's big perceived weakness there and hammer on that one point as hard as you can.

Yeah I've been seeing a lot of this bullshit lately

Like we're supposed to apologize for them being racist because we caused them to vote Trump

Lol

The economy is doing great, Obama has an excellent approval rating. America is succeeding.

I don't think Bernie would have done any better.

I don't think we made any wrong choices. The tweet from Nate Cohn about white voters voting as a minority bloc sums it up. There were millions of white voters out there who didn't turn out for McCain and didn't turn out for Romney because they WEREN'T RACIST ENOUGH. They wanted a candidate more terrible, more dangerous, and more evil.

They found him.

It would've been nice to know in advance, but frankly, knowing that America is full of Nazis BEFORE they elect Idiot Hitler would probably have been worse than only finding out now.

When a huge number of voters vote for a white nationalist that is an indictment of those voters and their country.

No, is an indictment of the incompetence of a party and a candidate that aren't able to curtail and defeat in the polls such an obviously toxic, negative and limited perspective. What was Hillary slogan? I'm with her? How does that resonates with the voters in the rust belt? What do you think they feel about the elites and bureaucrats like Hillary that destroyed their livelihood and communities in trade deals? Do you think you would be with her or be captivated by hope of a return to better times with fucking #MAGA? for a simple voter in those circumstances the choice wasn't a hard as you think.

Hillary and the DNC failed. They needed an inspirational candidate that could relate to those voters in key states in the rust belt, instead they went with an avatar of everything that they consider to be wrong with politics.

I wanted the democrats to win but delusion will just obstruct the learning that must be derived.

Yup. We're in uncharted waters here.
