I cannot even imagine what its like being Hillary right now. After maybe something looking like it would go right, to sudden validation that yes, the country really does personally and viscerally hate you for no good goddamn reason

Okay people are clapping I think its actually starting

If Hillary today could talk to Hillary 30 years ago she would have told herself that politics is a mistake and would never work for her.

I would be thinking like this if I thought Trump had any intention of actually trying to govern. Even if he does try somewhat at first, he'll be bored within 6 months and let Pence do everything.

Also, the Republicans have control of both chambers of congress. They will get their agenda passed regardless.

I wonder how much Democrats will now need to be the party that forces the U.S. and the media to talk about policy. Like, any time any democratic person on TV gets asked about a candidate's personality or something dumb Trump said, they immediately pivot to policy.

He'll hate the insults and attacks if they come especially if they blame him and his choices. Look I'm just not certain that he'll toe the GOP line on everything. I mean he's from New York, he's no conservative. The big worry is how easily influenced is he?

So can we agree that there is a right wing wave happening through the world? I mean fuck, liberal parties falling one by one.

The man doesn't even read anything. People have to tell him or he watches tv to get information. Hell I have no doubts he'll just have advisers and people explain the basic bullet points of bills that he needs to sign and he'll just do it.

Random observation: Clinton's going to hit her polling average almost exactly. Trump was off by about five points.

Maybe the pollsters should have just pushed the fuck out of undecideds.

I'm gonna repost this, because maybe people aren't getting the message.

I already saw the article on the Guardian saying that Hillary lost because minorities didn't turn out enough.

Another way of saying that is that America has relied all along on people of color to work twice as hard, vote twice as much, focus twice as clearly on the important issues, because, on average, white people of all ages and income levels would really prefer to elect a white nationalist. People of color have prevented them from doing that for the last fifty years by organizing, demonstrating, arguing, and voting.

This time the white people got what they've always wanted.

Agreed. This shit reminds me of when white liberals were blaming black voters for prop 8 passing even though would have passed anyway even if all black voters voted against it. White liberals really need to admit that a large of their race is totally ok with and even willing to support bigots.

@KFILE 4m4 minutes ago Washington, DC
As someone who spent 15 months researching Trump's past statements, if anyone says they know what a President Trump will do they're lying.

@KFILE 3m3 minutes ago Washington, DC
Trump's taken strong stances on both sides of *every* major issues, including immigration reform and U.S. interventions.

@KFILE 2m2 minutes ago Washington, DC
He's at times signaled support same-sex marriage, supported abortion rights, etc. There's no actual barometer for what he will do.

DING DING DING

That's actually been NPR's coverage all morning. They are going to these experts worldwide and asking for input on what will happen, and they each have nothing substantive to say.

"There's no way to know," is the opinion of the day.

Aren't there upcoming French and German elections? I'm not gonna be optimistic about either of those given that the far right is basically winning everywhere but Canada in the western world.

I have no doubt this is what will happen initially, but what about when approval numbers start tanking? When people begin getting disaffected, what then?

I'm still trying to get an answer to my question. :) Did anyone watch Trump's speech from yesterday? Did he sound more sane? Most of his "policies" were clearly just an attempt to get idiots to vote for him.

Because they didn't have to. Bernie never stood a chance in primaries. If he did Republicans would have had at least 10 months to prepare. They didn't have that much more with emails bullshit.

Seriously, you're just spouting nonsense. They were working the emails since fucking 2013.

She was already unpopular by the time the campaigns really got started -- the scandals were able to ride that downward momentum. Sanders' had popularity that Clinton did not, and his upward momentum would have made it so that it required much more work to make bullshit scandals stick.

What of the past year and a half gets blown away in a 15m speech that makes you think the man will pivot away from his moronic stances? You know the answer to this question.

I like how the only countries in the world with military power are China, the U.S., India, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

What a strong group for liberalism right now.

Honestly.

I'm with it.

Shit is gonna change - Dodd Frank might be repealed, the SEC is going to dramatically shift

That's all a given. I just kind of what people at a baseline who are capable. That's my high bar.

C'mon.

Edit: Well, there's lot of streams if you search for "clinton" and "live" on youtube.

You know what happened?

People felt that they needed to stop hillary. Hillary was a criminal. She was a butcher. People rose up against that.

That's what happened. Say what you will about Bernie, but they wouldn't be chanting 'Lock him up' or calling him the Butcher of Benghazi. Who gives teh fuck if Sanders is a socialist? Trump is practically a fascist and he won.

It doesn't matter and you don't understand that. Because she had so much baggage against her, it was easier to rally against clinton.

Middle America prefers fascism to socialism. Middle America will always prefer fascism to socialism because fascism reinforces white ethnic identity. If the Dems' plan is to run a socialist against a fascist because of some amorphous idea of anti-establishment populism we are going to continue to lose elections. The idea that Trump supporters were really pining for Bernie is the idea that Trumpism is about economic anxiety. It isn't. We won't start winning elections again until we stop telling ourselves this fairytale.

It would have taken the GOP 0 effort to label him a commie and do cold war redux. There's a reason they kept trying to prop him up during the primaries, or have we forgotten that? Biden might have been able to give it a decent run, but that's about it.

Yeah, would have been a good thing for the media to pursue before the election, but there was no time, with all the easy email stories and Wikileaks dumps.

If Clinton were elected. you could've told your kids that anyone can be President of the US.

Now that Donald is elected, you can your kids that literally anyone can be President of the US.

I'm sort of glad that the nationalist "True Finns Party" over here got their little populistic moment of glory in 2015 before all this shit happened, only for them to immediately be exposed as spineless turncoats and their support has absolutely crashed within a year.

I hope that gives us resistance towards right wing bullshit for a while
