The White House doesn't understand politics, part 923829873128

He literally did this to get the border wall money and DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THE FUCKING SENATE YOU IDIOT.
jfc. in other signs of a well-oiled machine: (source)
At the Pentagon, the first of the three tweets raised fears that the president was getting ready to announce strikes on North Korea or some other military action. Many said they were left in suspense for nine minutes, the time between the first and second tweet. Only after the second tweet did military officials receive the news the president was announcing a personnel change on Twitter.

and the mooch is pretty good:

His pandering to the evangelicals today made me remember something from the campaign. Liz Mair and Rick Wilson, both Never Trumpers and fairly reliable sources, basically confirmed that they had evidence of Trump paying for a mistress's abortion (or multiple mistresses' abortions), but they never released the information because (1) the women had signed NDAs and (2) they couldn't find any rich Democrats or anti-Trump Republicans to pay the legal fees.
Wasn't someone like Larry Flynt offering to pay women if they had Trump abortion stories like that? I can't remember, it feels so long ago. But that rings a bell.

Trump is falling back on the old tactic to shore up Republicans: God, Guns and Gays.

He's at 2/3 so far. Before the day is over he will tweet something something 2nd amendment.

Unfortunate that this wasn't pushed. Information like this could have maybe made a difference in Florida and North Carolina.

You are conflating attendance of services w/ religiosity. They are not the same thing. Religious poor people are less likely to attend services for the same reason they're less likely to vote.

I didn't separate active religious participation with self-identification, but this is besides the point. Trump mobilized poor rural white voters in ways that previous Republicans did not, turning out both less religious and more religious white rural people without a college education. This demographic also seems to be where Trump's white nationalism paid off best.

So, at this point it's pretty clear that as the walls close in around Trump, he's going to become even more paranoid, irrational, and impulsive with his decisions.

Strap in folks, it's only going to get worse. Especially as the Russia investigation grows.

Yeah, this.

One of the articles Valhelm linked was basically just about how churches can serve as a network and provide economic benefits to attendees. And churches in poorer areas would probably provide less benefits than those in wealthier areas. Like, duh.

(You're slowly getting to the actual issue - it's white rural voters in general, regardless of class or religiosity!)

Replace Huck Sanders with literally any ardent Trump supporter off the street and the briefings would be exactly the same. She has nothing at all to offer from the WH. It's ridiculous.

Regarding the transgender ban, over and over "it's a military decision." Give us names of military leadership that recommended this.
