ah yes, the good old "smartness number"

wow, it sure was incredible how humans managed to quantify their boundless ingenuity into a single finite series of whole numbers

and they even did it without being culturally biased, finding away to write the test that somehow parses its concepts equally well in the structure of every single language

imagine what a scandal it would be if average "smartness number" scores rose 3 points a decade - it would mean we have practically a standard deviation over the 1950s that is only implicitly displayed

Unpopular opinion: Trump is probably not as stupid as many of us want to believe, and probably sits in the above average pool of intelligence, whether you measure IQ or whatever more inclusive or esoteric measures you might come up with. What many of us observe as stupidity is probably some set of low moral character / values, racism / bigotry, and a pretty complex web of personality disorders.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

Posted this in the other thread, but I think this is where it's going:

Rule that requires players to stand IF they are on the field, but have the choice of not coming out of the locker room or tunnel until afterward if they choose.

He's an idiot savant. He's knowledgeable in the ways of being a quality used car salesman to his adoring base who like that mix of values/racism/bigotry and gladly have their flames stoked. He's a marketer in chief and he's absolutely changed how we view twitter and the presidency and how to manipulate the media but that's about it. Whats worse is that he has no intellectual curiosity about any of the things that are required to govern or to understand policy, empathy, morality, etc.

Still amazes me how people will still argue that curtailing free speech laws won’t lead to a slippery slope here because Europe.

Of course it will. Don’t get why people act like Trump and Sessions wouldn’t make not standing for the anthem a hate crime if they theroetically could.

No, he genuinely seems to have trouble grasping even very basic concepts and his thought process about subjects is painfully simplistic and predictable. Combine that with a supremely arrogant and self-absorbed personality, and he apparently has zero desire or ability to learn anything.
His only talent appears to be a low cunning for publicity aimed towards the lowest common denominator.

For a nation that supposedly prizes freedom of expression as one of its highest virtues, the shaming of people who do not take every public opportunity to engage in exaggerated displays of patriotism has always dismayed me. The idea that a major sports league might be cowed by a sitting president into passing such a rule is shameful and sets a terrible precedent.

The only thing Trump is "smart" about is branding. He has no attention-span nor even the most basic level of curiosity to be knowledgeable on most things past their most rudimentary level.

Then why can't he remember not to grab his daughter's ass on television

I stated something similar. I personally subscribe to the concept of different types of intelligence. He's absolutely an above average con man and understands business from this perspective. To think he's just a bumbling moron at all times is to assume he just fell into the POTUS, which I don't agree with.

Then why can't he remember not to grab his daughter's ass on television

Because succeeded in conning people to think it doesn't matter.

I don't think Trump has any intellectual curiousity, he's racist and sexist, and he suffers from more than one personality disorder, but he probably has above average intelligence.

The NJ governor debate starts at 7:00 PM if any one is interested. I know this race is likely settled already but if you want to know the candidates positions it might be worth a watch.

That's the smartest thing Page has ever done w/regards to this investigation.

I still encourage him to do more TV interviews. For my entertainment, if nothing else.

People who brag about their IQ score tend not to have a high iq.
Do people really still do IQ tests? It feels like a 60s thing. I've heard people brag about SAT or LSAT/MCAT scores, but never IQ. It feels like something little Johnny takes when there's something really wrong with him.

If Cuomo retired or whatever and Clinton ran for governor, she'd win, no matter what the media did, so that's kind of funny.

It wouldn't be a bad idea strategically. Clinton derangement syndrome would mean that the media would stop caring about false-equivalency narratives for Democrats elsewhere and would focus their effort on dogging the Clinton governorship.

Trump is most likely someone who was once fairly intelligent but has experienced a marked cognitive decline over the years. People have already pointed out how in interviews back in the 90's he spoke in grammatically correct sentences and was able to express some complex ideas, compared to the jumbled word salad he spews now.

That would pretty much destroy everything Kaepernick hoped to accomplish and turn pretty much everyone against them. The NFL players and even the progressive movement is getting sucked into making this about "how great America is" instead of police brutality. Which is a fight that we will get handily destroyed on.

And in addition to that, but would calcify the issue along political alignments that would staunch bleeding from the conservative portion of the spectrum.

Or said bleeding happens anyways, Trump gets bumped, the NFL is tanked, racial animosity spikes. ETTD.

Counter point: he ran a casino in the 90s and it lost money.

I Q tests measure your potential while achievement tests measure actual performance. IQ scores tend to have multiple components and just the ‘full scale’ number can be severely skewed by personal strengths and weaknesses. That’s the number people can throw out (and most legit scores fall between 85 and 115, with 130 -145 being the genius class. Of course there is focus now on emotional, social, and cultural intelligences, all areas I am certain Trump would be very low in. I’m a school psychologist btw so I’m used to giving these out lol 😂

Sarah Huckabee Sanders says Trump was just joking about Tillerson's IQ!
Remember, he never said it, or if he did, he was just joking, or it's not really a big deal and it's your fault for thinking it is.

Trump helped secure Puerto Rico help in the form of 4.9 Billion in funding out of the budget LOAN, HE SAID FUCK IT AND SENT THEM 4.9b IN THE FORM OF A LOAN LMAO WHAT

Supposed to help their short term liquidity issues somehow while still reeling from most of the country not being able to find potable water to drink. Definitely not going to put them deeper in the hole, nope.
