PS5 Fans Against Multiplatform Games Email Sony, Get Response

Most of these interactions boil down to

"If you release games on other platforms there's no point in owning a Ps5 anymore!"
"Ok, so Switch over 2 PC or Xbox"
"I don't want to"

A lot of people lie about almost every single thing related to Sony this gen. If Sony allowed you to launch all your games on PC if you choose people would fucking love it. That's why you have to ignore what they say and dig a little deeper to find out what they even think about anything. Just lie after lie. Gamepass sucks, but everyone was losing their mind over getting Lies of P yesterday a year later on PS+. They probably don't even know why they're sending these emails because there is so much cognitive dissonance.

They're just crying because they formed a personality based on their fanboyism, Sony can stay in absolute silence, release their games and they'll still but them

PCMR and Xbox orphans are really trying to make "exclusive game" the most simplistic and stupid thing in the history of gaming... and the strawmaning to a very complex subject its the cherry on the top

It's not really false advertising unless they said it would be forever.

If a company says they are selling orange juice for $3, but next year they discontinue the product or they jack up the price to $4 is that false advertising too? They never said it's be available forever for $3.
I didn't say I could sue over it. It is the reason people are pissed though. I'm not super interested in semantics so you can call it whatever you want but the reality of why some people aren't happy is exactly what I said.

To a further extent, I think the fans are seeing Sony change. They are not just making minor changes, rather they are going further down the path Jim Ryan set them on. Their games have fallen off and their priority seems to be porting their old games to other platforms. That feels like the end for a long time Sony fan. They are making their company into something much more generic and less niche and weird and that's a sad thing to see. The company is changing from the Japanese gaming giant we always loved into just another Ubisoft style westernized publisher.

If you were hired for corporate espionage or sabotage, you would get caught immediately. You are NOT slick chief. Lmao

If it was just Sony porting to MS/Switch/PC then yea this would be my worry. Since everyone is doing it there's nothing to worry about because no one has any reason to leave their ecosystem now.

Valid point.

I also give it less than 5 years before Nintendo starts releasing their games on other platforms.

Sony should just go completely open platform next generation, like Xbox. They would sell a shit ton of consoles and could still keep timed exclusivity on their games. It would literally make the next gen Xbox obsolete. Sony will surely lose some sales to Steam and Epic, but the majority of Sony's revenue is already coming from the top 10 gaas games. It would also be great for their studios if they did this

It didn't really work out for Xbox as their console sales took a nose dive. However, the brand was already on life support, so maybe it'll be different for Sony

I'd think so, too. Apparently there are people who like to be part of an exclusive community and take joy out of something others can't experience. Like people who think they are "better" when they discovered a band/album before it gets popular by a TV series.

This behaviour usually boils down to a need that is otherwise not satisfied. These people miss something in their life and try to "fix" that with their exclusive hobby and community. Ultimately people want to feel good and some people are doing "weird" things to achieve that.
It's a weird thing.

It's like someone bragging they got a new pair of jeans and tells the world about it. Great! Some fam or friends are interested and want to buy it too.

A friend sees the jeans at a store by his house, but the first guy hates that store. And hates other stores even carry it. He says only buy it at his favourite store he shops at.

The second guys says why? Same jeans. He likes the store by his house better and it's closer too. So who cares where he buys it?

The first guy says he's been a long time supporter of his store. He wants you, me and anyone else to only support buying it from his fav store because it gives him a sense of winning and bravado they copy his way of buying clothes.

Why would people care? It doesn't stop them from playing the games on their PlayStations...
It could potentially compromise the game during its development.

Exclusive first party titles allow the developer to focus all effort on a singular build, optimising with that in mind and utilising any unique features or hardware capabilities to their fullest.

If you need to also consider other platforms you cannot build any features around any unique hardware capabilities, nor anything that would not be sufficiently performant on a third party platform, ie needing to support the series S, means the scope and features of the game must be viable on that weaker hardware.

That said, it won't be a mandate, it'll be a case by case basis, and after the fact. So I doubt it'll compromise much in the case of Sony's plans, I also expect it'll be primarily GAAS games.

Now you see why I call them Soyny boys, I wonder if there hairs blue aswell, mother fuckers need to just play games, theres some amazing shit on all platforms just play that shit.

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 By becoming multiplatform the quality of their games will inevitably decrease, they'll become MS, Activision, EA and Ubisoft. They'll do GAAS, AAAA boring Ubisoft games or cheap AA shovelwares to sustain their subscription services.

Best example is Demon's Souls. Instead of doing a sequel or Bloodborne, Bluepoint wasted 4 years at doing GAAS game for the PC market. Similar thing with Bend or even Naughty dog, how many dev time did they wasted on that GAAS venture destined to the PC market?

In fairness, he and all of us, as a paying customers, has the right to give his opinion or suggestion or complain to the companies where we buy the products.
I mean, all that counts is that you still get the games. And I find it hard to believe that Sony would stop putting their shit on Playstation.

Multiplat does not have to mean GAAS

Plus in my own personal opinion the quality of Sony games as of late has not been great anyhow

Plus its on leadership to ensure said quality and goes back to what I have said before that Phil Spencer can't really spot a good game, thats been MS downfall of quality

Xbox sales were nosediving anyways. I really do think a streamlined console experience with PC games is the future. Sony should embrace it

They saw the writing in the wall and realize they can't make a return on investment by sticking to exclusivity with budgets on the rise, the pressure to make those sales targets gets more restricted for the exclusives.

Man sony fanboys are such a cult Nintendo fans would never do something like this! Infact they would be happy that Mario is coming to PlayStation. As a Nintendo fan i emailed Nintendo to bring mario to PlayStation

Because there are groups of people on every platform that enjoy games that is only on their platform and they know no one else gets to play

I would imagine they are mostly children in either age or mentality but they exist none the less
I want my consoles to have games only available for said consoles hence the reason I have multiple gaming consoles.
No exclusives equal no reason for me to own that console(see Xbox)

It's far from a childish mentality.

Gamepass sucks, but everyone was losing their mind over getting Lies of P yesterday a year later on PS+.
PS+ was actually getting lots of love when you could get it cheap, I know because I was there getting it cheap and talked about it. "Best deal in gaming" Etc. I did the PSN to PS+ Premium transfer, it was awesome. It's how I played Returnal, Miles Morales, Shadow of the Colossus remaster, that cat game, and more. I loved it. Cost me $5/month just like with Gamepass stacking.

But when the cheap deal ended I dropped it. For me it wasn't worth the price without day 1 releases, I never play online so the game catalogue was literally all I used the service for.

On Gamepass I still have the cheap stacking, til the end of the year. Same thing, it's awesome. It's how I've played Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Avowed, Oblivion Remaster, Expedition 33, DOOM The Dark Ages, Wuchang this year, and I plan to play The Outer Worlds 2 that way.

I'm staying as long as I get things cheaper than buying games. If they can keep releasing games in 2026 like first half of this year I'll stay subbing at standard price. Otherwise I'll drop it.

I said it childish to get more enjoyment out of a game because other platforms can't play it

If you enjoy buying multiple platforms to be able to play all games that is different and what people are forced to do to play everything

The *only* company I don't see doing this(multi-platform) in the foreseeable is Nintendo. I don't count mobile btw.

They're the big shark in their blue ocean. :messenger_beaming:

Market has changed. Gaming is too big to ignore and games too expensive for shareholders to not demand every single possible cent of revenue from any source.

So R&C Rift Apart can't run on a potato PC like the Steam Deck because it was made exclusively for the PS5 and its unique features and hardware capabilities. /s 🤦‍♂️

For a "first party" PC game like Crysis/Warhead or Star Citizen this can be true. For a console, hmm.....

It is Ryan and now Hulst and Totoki's fault for training or conditioning the minds of gaming consumers, that PS so called exclusives games will also come out to other platforms soon especially PC, that is why they rather wait. If Sony stick to there old principle on exclusive, just like what Nintendo is doing, exclusives will continue to thrive.

Fair enough. There are surely going to be Apple only or PC only software.

But do Apple and PC users go ape shit like console warrior walled gardens those programs are exclusive?
When the European Union forced Apple to open the platform and allow other stores, I think I remember many going ape shit, for a while.

From the outside looking in - it seems weird. Why would you want to have to own multiple consoles to be able to play all the games you are interested in?

I wanted to say mainstream audience with more accessible (GoW Ragnarok) accessible, easier games. Playstation were doing varied AA-AAA kind of games before, Ico, Resogun, the fun MP they were doing for Killzone SF or TLOU.

Expedition 33 is a game they could (should) have done. But no because who would want to play a linear, turn based game in the open-world borefest era? Who would want to play Elden Ring, a very hard and punishing game, no handholding with no cutscenes and no marxist agenda?

Yes the quality of Sony games have been poor because of their strategy, not forgetting the DEI guidance (still there) they have at Playstation. They were doing exceptionnaly well until Jim Ryan (and he started causing havoc in Europe before 2020).

But that's the secret; Rift Apart clearly wasn't built solely with the PS5 in mind. The second they started PeeSea porting, they got their studios to prep the games for easier ports.

That said, I don't think Rift Apart runs particularly well on the Steamdeck.

Simply by having to divert resources to other platforms, regardless of what it is, the game is less than it could be on multiple levels.

I think it's more the fact that a successful PlayStation means a quality platform with good games both exclusive and non exclusive. Always has been this way since PS1.

People don't want the brand destroyed because management is too stupid not to follow in the footsteps of Microsoft.

Because for some people, they like to show the world they got a ton of gear on their shelves or walls because it gives the image they got it all.

If you go streamlined, it makes you look like a cheap ass who can't afford it.

The more you got to show the better it feels.

It's like my shoe collection. I got no more than 10 shoes. And that even included a couple pairs of winter boots. For all occasions I got maybe 2 shoes. One main and one back up. That's it. I don't give a shit. The only shoes I've ever bought that cost more than $100 are dress shoes and winter boots. Don't care if any fashion expert can eyeball the shoes and see they aren't high end.

One of my sis in laws literally has a gigantic shoe rack (not those small ones that you can find for $30 and fit 6 pairs like the rack I got), but she found some giant rack that has only black shoes. I saw it and even laughed at her saying they kinda look the same too.

She's got more black shoes only than my entire shoe collection by probably triple. And that doesn't even include all the other shoes she's got.

Nobody needs like 25+ pairs of black shoes. But it makes her feel good to have that physical collection for everyone to see in plain view. Right in the front lobby. I bet any money she hasn't even wore some of them.

And it makes them more money so they can continue to make games...
And....just like Xbox, some games will be exclusive for a while. I don't think they said day and date with PS5 release.
And....most likely will be online games, GAAS games which require a bigger player-base.

Rift Apart for PC was ported for another studio after the game on PS5 was finished. 🤦‍♂️

It's not about it running well or not on Deck, is about a weaker hardware not holding anything back the PS5 version, thing that didn't happen with Crysis 1 and some others but happened with almost every game not targeting more powerful hardware like top the line PeeSeas. 🤷‍♂️

Simply by having to divert resources to other platforms, regardless of what it is, the game is less than it could be on multiple levels.

Yet when console exclusive games go to PC virtually all of them are better there. :pie_thinking:

No. Hey…. Look in my eyes…. You share your games with the rest of us now, OK? 😂😂😂

Sony really needs to do a better job of easing its fans into their multiformat future. Don't be a phil spencer about it but Atleast leave some bigger breadcrumbs on the trail. 😅
