PS5 Is the Fastest-Selling Console in U.S. History (unit and dollar sales)

Now it is so clear why there were so many articles on "What is Sony doing wrong?", It is just FUD spread by fanboys and some obscure "journalists" picking it up. Sony did nothing massively wrong, it is pretty obvious considering they are breaking records.

I dislike how they are managening Japan Studios, but it may be for the best in the long term, just like when you cut the "bad" branches of a plant to allow it to grow stronger later.

Not a good look for sony. Not a good look at all.

The reality is I think most people who buy a Switch as a second console - unless they're kids. It just doesn't have the third-party support of a lot of the biggest-hitters, and it's mostly cutesy games targeted at teenagers.
To be fair, with the way AAA/AAAA is going, the effective number of games Nintendo is missing by having lower specs is probably decreasing by the year.

I'm glad the PS5 is selling well in these difficult times. Sony will always deliver quality experiences as they've done since the 90's. I think the competition is closing in on some fronts and pretending that's not the case is ignorant.

PS5 is absolutely killing it! Dose of much needed reality right here after the recent barrage of negativity towards the PS5.

MS need to step up and get more consoles out there or they will be in trouble in their largest market again.

I just realized that the PS5 is the fastest selling white console with a 5 in it's name, someone should make a thread about this new information lol
The fact that the Switch beat it in units sold AND revenue this month is really pathetic.

Sony are actually losing money for every PS5 sold plus all PS5 games bombed making it worse for Sony, that's why Sony are whoring their exclusives to PC players recently.
Lmao.

I think the reality is that Sony did such a bloody good job building the brand with the last generation that a few minor missteps at the beginning of this one were not going to damage that brand in any real way. As long as they continue to publish excellent exclusive first party games over the coming few years, they will retain their dominance. Xbox will of course catch up somewhat, if they also try to publish more first party exclusive games, but the lead Sony have created for themselves is pretty much unassailable, as long as they don't start doing anything too big to ruin the brand's image among the general population.

without the scalpers can this number be the real deal? Maybe.

For a retailer sell to a bot or to a human is the same thing

I have no ideia how gamers, aka us, are playing on PS5 when by the narrative here all of them are on scalpers hands lol

some people had the luck to get the console, but you know there a several scalpers pictures with a lot of units, is not a narrative is something that has been reported

Yeap and it is mininum... there are way more sales to final consumers than scalpers.

Form 1 million units sold maybe 30-50k units are scalpers.

I've read in various places that the amount of Ps5s that scalpers have got hold of is about a maximum of 10%, but likely lower.

Two things, one unrelated -

1 - can sony please just let me see the installed games by default?

2 - still no actual numbers on digital vs disc system sales eh? Almost like Sony has something to hide.....

Imagine thinking Sony has something to hide when its competitor hasn't given us a single concrete number for consoles sold or software sold. Instead replacing it with inflated subscription and player numbers instead.

Agreed. Sony managed to be the leader when it comes to big titles after a lot of effort and this strategy is pretty hard to copy. MS will certainly be a true contender in the future, but it will take some time to achieve it, imo.

Do you guys think that this is in part some of the reason weve seen some absolutely insane headlines like Microsoft is going to "buy konami and have kojima make MGS 6 & MS is is about buy square to take over Japan?" Not to mention the month long smear campaign from journalists and fake twitter insiders spreading fake news all month? There has to be a correlation here. I cant help but feel xbox is running on fumes and far out promises at this point and a sense of desperation is kicking in, in my opinion.

I think MS likes all the BS rumors. Fans on forums discuss it for weeks like their it's actually happening, and once the rumor is proven false, they just shrug it off and hype up the next rumor.

Of course, sales are what matters and, so far, it's looking like more of the same with PlayStation leading the way.

Look call me crazy, I do believe that this guerilla fake news twitter campaign from "Insiders" and the Jeff Grubbs is a well coordinated effort by Microsoft. I think the more insane the theory the better as far as their concerned because it confuses unaware potential buyers of the ps5 and makes them hold off on their purchase, plus the AstroTurf gamepass marketing, its impossible to not correlate the two. PS5 is selling no matter what they do at this point and if sony can really start o manufacture these things youre looking at another 2:1 deficit, and your console is dead world wide again for another 5-6 years at what point do you they just ask themselves is this even worth it? Thats, in my opinion, the dangerous thing about MS buying all these studios is that I dont believe gamepass will ever really take off or be anything more than a novelty.

The thread title says "unit and dollar sales", yet everyone is talking like PS5 only outsold Switch in dollars, not units (which I find more believable anyway).

What really happened?
