PS5 seems to be quite silent...

Again as playstation 4. I gonna play those awesome, first party , game of the year so loudly that I could run a room full of PS4 and ps5 without issues.

Or use new headphones :D

Liking the sound of that, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic. My Pro was initially silent as well, but overtime it turned into a jet engine.

This has been my main difference I wanted to see from the idiotically loud Ps4 Pro, so I'm extremely pleased that it'll be a very quiet console. As expected, but nice to have it confirmed (y)

now let them play an intensive game and see how it goes

Godfall is intensive enough with 4k/60 and raytracing.

Great news. My PS4 (it is still the early one from 2013 launch) is just too loud and I have no problem with it being big or odd in design.

They say that the room they were in was around 30 degrees celcius (86ºF) because of the studio lights, and they could barely hear the fan while playing Godfall.

Well Not sure where you get silent from this ... If you are playing a game and you can hear the fan over the game it is not silent. Guess we will need to wait to actually hear what it sounds like but I am not convinced yet

the usual logic from green folks...so silent running old shit.

But PS5? We have to wait more demanding games lol

>Xbox has been deathly silent for several versions
>Playstation has sounded like a 747 preparing to enter the lower stratosphere for several versions.

WHY DO THEY NOT TRUST AUTOMATICALLY?!

My ps4 pro is completely silent recently...since I've been playing ps2 games on it digitally. Which is why I don't put much stock in playing BC games as a test for noise

It might be. Let's hope it is. It better be at that size. But I remember the industry insiders also reported that the Xbox One X was extremely quiet.. Well, it kinda wasn't in games like f.ex. RDR2..

My OG Xbox One was pretty loud on intensive games though.

My launch PS4 and Pro were both barely audible even under load, so I never got the complaints, but it's good to see that ps5 seems to be doing well in that regard for people.

Funny how people are doubting this, but the XSX being inaudible they just swallowed.
I think there's some slight skepticism when it comes to it remaining quiet simply due to a lot of PS4s starting out being quiet, only to get louder and louder as time went on. Whereas XB1s and XB1Xs have stayed quiet.

But I have a feeling noise won't be an issue for either console this gen.

People are putting too much stock in a controlled preview where they mostly played astrobot. And the console only ran for 80 minutes.

Who has an 80 minute game session other than when just trying to squeeze in a play session before having to go somewhere?

Xbox One X is basically silent, I use this anecdotal knowledge of their previous hardware and info from the youtubers to feel comfortable saying it's quiet.

Mind you I don't think the PS5 will be loud by any means, it'd be an extreme oversight by Sony.

Totally agree. Reserving judgement until I've had a 6 hour Warzone session with it.

I would just ignore these previews, they literally showed nothing. I just watched them looking for anything new. They don't even show the PS5.
People are going to hold onto the words of these Youtubers like they are gospel, I would just ignore these people for now.

I'm not as bothered by fan noise as others. The only time I hear fan noise is when playing certain games (RDR2, and FF7R for example). Good for those who have an issue with it though.

At this point I feel like previews are just for console warriors to bicker.

Shit's already sold out. If you haven't preordered already you're gonna get to see the OS/UI, etc. anyway.

Oh it's just Astro bot, oh Godfall early launch game doesn't push system, oh but MS only showed old games of course it's quiet.

What a load of bollox.

Of course if it fits the narrative, the fanboys will run with it. Could you imagine had Microsoft did an event like this as opposed to shipping everyone a console? The "concern" would be through the roof.

I really really just want both consoles cuz I love new hardware but its like none of these guys really want my money.

4Gamer and Dengeki are reporting that the console was very silent when they tried it during the PS5 preview event.

The air flow from the console was warm, but not extremely hot.

Dengeki didn't notice any fan sound when playing Astro's Playroom and Godfall.

"When we were wrapping up the gameplay we thought - huh, was the fan even spinning?"

They say that they played for aroung 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Sounds promising!

It does sound promising, but they need to load up an uncapped frame rate game like Modern Warfare's menu.

Yeah, like I've said before I bet both of the consoles are going to be amazing and plan on getting both at some point. It's just the PS5 preorder debacle left me unable to even attempt to get a preorder. Xbox wasn't easy either but I luckily secured it on Microsoft Store.

I'm just disappointed in Sony's marketing right now. I feel like I know very little of the functionality of the console, know a ton about this dualsense controller that doesn't really interest me, and only have sparse examples of games for it.

Today's 'hands-on' was so pointless, I want my hour and a half of my life back. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

My Pro and my PC's fans go apeshit within 5 minutes of gaming, so ...

Nice to hear but launch titles rarely stress the machine.

When i launched killzone sf on my og ps4 back in november 2013 i thought that it will explode. It was so loud and hot... fact is, kz sf was and is still one of the best looking fps on ps4 and xbox to this date...

My launch ps4 is bipolar. Its sometimes quiet and sometimes sounds ready for takeoff. Mafia remake has it going crazy and thats that i play with my headphones on.

I get your point but like I said before, this is a Sony controlled environment. Im not taking anything at face value. Remember "we believe in generations".

What do people mean by controlled environment? 80 minutes inside a 30 degree celsius room playing a next gen game plus DMC and Astrobot are pretty indicative on how the console will behave on normal circumstances.

Unless some people live in a furnace or think that at 81 minutes the fan will start to go nuts for some weird reason.

Exactly. By this time in 2013, we knew everything there was to know about the Ps4. I don't speak Japanese so I wasn't going to bother anyway and just wait on translation. But I obviously didn't miss anything.

The ps5 preorder was actually easy for me. I couldn't manage to lock in the xsx tho lol.

Of course it's silent.

Just like my PS4 Pro here...

The only problem that I have is I lost the top cover so it'll be tough to sell it...
