Well, any graph like that is generally going to be nonsense.

You can't distill data points so simplistically for comparison, because even a little critical thinking will bring up several potential issues if you have any semblance of understanding about logistics, infrastructure, and just general knowledge of how these avenues tend to work in business.

I'm sure it's great for internet comparisons though where no one really considers much.

Edit:

Thanks.

Checking it out. Although that URL gives me pause. I wasn't expecting some internet article.

Edit 2:

That's not even a report. It's nothing! It's like two paragraphs of nothing.

Thanks anyway.
Oh phrasing

Meant, no idea the actual... like source/report

But this is where the image came from

So you prefer two dudes just being mad about stuff and punching each other, even though one's not even really trying for the sake of dramatic tension, or he didn't plan well enough, or he's being mind controlled by Poison Ivy and has to be punched three times with a Kryptonite ring and electrocuted with all of Metropolis's energy to high heaven before he snaps out of it?

No. This was the shit:

Even Batman told some jokes. The dark, serious tone loses all its flavor the PICOsecond you add a flying dude in a red cape to the mix.

Imagine if you put Rocket Raccoon in The Winter Soldier.

What superman and rocket raccoon are two different people. I'm guessing you've never seen superman go all out or go on a mean streak. The boyscout thing is so the kids can get into him the DC universe is much darker than this movie. Like I hate hate hate that people think Snyder is going against the grain with these serious characters. This is who they are.

The best part is people are ignoring the BvS trailer which had Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent having a dick measuring contest and Bruce Wayne making a joke about the Daily Planet doing puff-pieces everytime Superman saved a cat from a tree.

Like if you're going to throw shade, try knowing what you're talking about.

Remember, huge opening weekends like Deadpool come from being a movie people go back and see over and over again. These tend to be fun, unique, action-packed movies that send you out of the theater with a grin on your face. Maybe it's just how the marketing has chosen to push the film, but I am not seeing BvS being one of those movies at this point.

This movie's opening weekend is riding entirely on how much the mass audience wants to see Batman and Superman in the same movie. That's probably a lot of people, and a solid opening weekend by default, but repeat business is what breaks records, and it remains to be seen whether people will flock back to see two of the greatest superheroes of all time be dicks to each other for 2 1/2 hours.

MoS nearly matched Deadpool OW. BvS is not opening under MoS which means it is at least matching Deadpool and most likely opening above that.

That doesn't explain the success of something like TDK or TDKR

Those weren't what I'd call "fun" movies... damn good ones.

I think people try to attach qualities, but there is a variety of things that will bring people back to the cinema.

This could have amazing action and setpieces like the Transformers films (because we know not making a billion off the acting and story)

Or it could be something serious like Nolan's TDK trilogy and Inception.

Maybe it has a theme that connects with people like Furious 7

Or feels epic and large like LoTR

That picture clearly says 2013. There was no Spider-Man movie that year, and Sony doesn't do the merchandise. Marvel/Disney does.

Shipping containers from China can take up to 45 days. And as we all know, merchandise is available months in advance of any movie release (TASM2 released first in international markets in April 2014).

I've worked in PR and we do this all the time.

I am honestly not. I am saying that because someone said spidey isn't a big deal which I find crazy. I have always heard how Spider man has been this huge mega hero because he relates to the rest of the world and kids unlike any other hero can.

Totally, Spider-Man was my favourite hero in the 90s. I was just reminding people that these figures "most sales = most popular" fluctuate like mad and fall in line with marketing campaigns of any major movie. Star Wars probably crushed every single franchise during the Christmas months, for instance.

Yeah I mean superman is a farm boy from another planet and Bruce is arguably the most intelligent person on the planet and is a master at word play coming for him is almost impossible.

I think canonically... Bruce is never top for DC.... but not sure where he stands

I know Lex is generally smarter... and Mr. Terrific.

Mr teriffic says he's the 3rd smartest man in the world
Lex and Bruce compete for number 1.

Nah he's probably number 4.

I cheated and googled it and this was what was shown to me

Alan Scott has stated Mr. Terrific is "being modest" with being called the third smartest. It has been stated constantly Ray Palmer is considered the smartest. Luthor claims to only be surpassed by Palmer whenever they encounter one another (see the DC Universe Legends comic for the latest example).

Probably old though.

Really weird movie to guage imo. Doesn't spark the same amount of noise as something like Civil War, maybe it's because Snyder is just IMO a good director, not a great one. I don't think the movie will be that good either (hope I'm wrong), i'd probably put it at Iron Man 2 teir movie which was pretty good

150 million opening weekend

If MoS wasn't received somewhat lukewarm with the critics, we'd definitely be seeing a lot more hype. Fortunately a good majority of the fans liked MoS which is why this is looking to be a success, but not to break anyone's expectations.

That's not true at all. I'm always a little curious why people think that. Is it just the sites different people frequent?

Now I'm not gonna say that teriffic isn't up there but it honestly depends on what field were going for here Lex is a world class engineer and his ability to plot is almost unmatched. He's a master of deception and deal making and can out play galactic power houses

Michael is a super engineer as well and his t spheres are pretty much omni devices.

Bruce is an expert in just about every field on the planet of theirs an ology Bruce has mastered it. Plus he's mastered about every fighting style then crafted them into non lethal forms. He is the world's greatest detective and he can pretty much make a plan to beat anyone or anything in combat.

Palmer is probably the best scientist on the planet as he's figured out his shrinking suit. This allows him to cheat the power needs of any outlandish device he creates by shrinking a sun down and putting it inside.

So you really can't just call one smarter than the others they all have their places.

Lol and what does Alan Scott's old ass know

Nah he's probably number 4.

He's number 3 because Lex and Ray are in front of him. Ray has been called the smartest person on Earth forever.

1. Ray Palmer
2. Lex
3. Mr. Terrific

If you want to get into it Tim is actually more intelligent than Bruce is. He's better at detective work and engineering. Tim just lacks Bruce's imagination. Bruce's creativity and ability to think outside the box is what makes him such a threat. Ra's is up there too.

This movie has topped the list of a bunch of movie sites as the most anticipated movie of 2016, CW doesn't even come close to the amount of discussion this movie gets and articles too. I'm sure CW is going to be a great movie, but to say it has more noise than BvS is something I don't buy. When I say noise, I mean negative and positive.

They each kind of have their own area of expertise.

I think T O Morrow is criminally underrated. Sivana is barely mentioned as well. I'm not convinced Palmer is the smartest. Maybe in physics. I consider Lex the smartest.

Bruce Wayne is probably overrated by many, I'd say he's at least the most cunning of them. Brother Eye & The Omacs is impressive though, and he built a time machine in future's end.

IDK bro that one and two could shift

And yeah I can agree that Tim has a better grasp on the tech side. Bruce's auxiliary knowledge puts him on another league and I'm not sure about the detective work part.

What makes you say that.

Don't forget Ivo.

I was a fan of MoS too. Good movie

Word of mouth I guess from the super bowl teasers, where Civil War was all i was seeing and hearing about. CW trailer garnered more attention at movies I've been too and on youtube, reddit. Maybe Marvel marketing just clicks with the sites i visit like the other gaffer said

Batman and Ra's have both said Tim's detective skills are the best.

Bruce also said Dick was the better Batman.

Also Will Magnus, Elogated Man, Toyman, Cyborg all seem pretty smart.

Yeah but they don't get enough page time to expand on themselves.

And fucking evil untrustworthy Terry Sloan.

Batman and Ra's have both said Tim's detective skills are the best.

Bruce also said Dick was the better Batman.

Dick would be a different batman I don't think he would be about the fear. I think the Bruce is the best at what he does. For a few reasons Dick doesn't have all of the mental toolset that Bruce allotted for himself.

The Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises strongly disagree... considering both movies grossed over a billion and both movies had opening weekends that only made up 29% and 35.9%. Both lower than Age of Ultron (41.7%). Which means more people went out and watched them after the opening weekend than during... there's zero link in how repeat viewings are measured... but let's not act like a movie falls flat after OPW because it doesn't make you leave with a grin on your face.

That second point, however is much bigger and more tangible... this is a 2.5 movie going up against a movie 40 minutes shorter... that equals out to 1-2 less screenings per theatre a day. That's a significant difference. You can only squeeze a certain amount of viewings in a day, and a shorter movie has a quicker turnaround with more viewings.

Dick has been Batman and he was the best person to every wear the cape and cowl.

I think the movie will be decent and sell well. Over a billion total for sure. Opening weekend 150. Domestic prob 350. I'm not expecting a rollicking good time like the first Avengers or something ambitious like TDK.

yeah Ivo is great, Amazo is one of the few robots that can legitimately challenge the league. Especially the TAS version.

I'd love to see Amazo in like an opening sequence to a justice league movie, just to show they're doing stuff in between movies as a team.

Yeah lol the TV show amazo was insanly powerful.

what a time to be alive!

the two biggest superheroes in the same movie for the first time ever.

BATMAN and SUPERMAN, finally teaming up. Dream come true.

HYPE TRAIN CHOO CHOOO

I am predicting 300m opening. Anything less is a failure imo.

There's no way it's doing 300 opening. Not unless impressions from the week leading up are fucking phenomenal. Like "Move the fuck over, Bale, Batman has fucking arrived" phenomenal. Like "Eisenberg is the definitive Lex Luthor and you're fucking retarded if you don't agree" phenomenal. Like "Reeve came back from the grave just to applaud this Superman" phenomenal.

If it's just good then 200-220 MAYBE.

two biggest comic book heroes in the same movie together, so I expect nothing less.

It appears that early impressions are very positive so if this holds true and reviews are only above average I forsee this thing having a OW of 200 mil plus. Batman and Superman in live action together for the first time plus the debut of Wonder Woman is a very big deal.
