Always-honest said:yeah, but that seriously makes a difference for me. But i'm no RE purist. I hated the camera in the games before RE4.
it's clear that some people would like this small change, and some don't. no reason to call people stupid because of this.
Truant said:Default setup worked fine. The chainsaw guy killed the black chick, so the game ended. Perfect.
Mamesj said:I don't understand why the pistol can only shoot one bullet at a time. The lancer in GoW is a fast machine gun that shoots lots of bullets. Game is broken, pre-order cancelled. I've never even heard of this series, what is the 5 for?
Teknoman said:Well she is your partner. Call her over.
If she's in cover mode then she usually just stays beside you are basically provides the occasional cover fire. Unless you're standing right beside the chainsaw guy yourself it's actually kind of hard to get her killed.Truant said:I wish she was totally transparent like Eleka, or didn't exist at all. I don't have the demo right now, but this is strange. I had no issues connecting with people during the Japanese demo time I had, and I live in Australia.Y2Kev said:I can't connect to any matches online. :\

Dark FaZe said:After falling in love with Type C I played the demo about 9 times until I got used to Type D and I'm enjoying that scheme a lot more. My problem before it was accidently hitting right trigger a few times which would force me to look at my partner and potentially get me killed in tight situations. I've just taught myself not to do that anymore and I've gotten used to LB+right stick for knifing so I'm good to go.
I'm a lot more precise now. I didn't have to much of a time aiming before with the left analog, but now that I'm back on right analog now I'm finally getting into those smoother RE4 combinations that make the game feel more satisfying. Chaining 4 or more kills together with precise shots can be great.
I just hope there are more level designs that force cooperation. As it stands I feel pretty confident in beating levels without Shevas help at all. That is to say that there weren't many situations where I felt that I'd be screwed without the help of a partner. When things get hairy in Public Assembly, your not going to do a disservice to yourself by running away. In fact its easier to just jump through a window to avoid damage and climb up high to survey the area before moving on to another point where you can dish out damage rather than constantly keeping up with your partners movements. It's nice that the option to split up is there, but I'm just hoping that there are more difficult situations that will force players to be smarter about defeating certain situations.
most matches where i try to play as shiva (connect to a host) wind up the same way:Y2Kev said:I can't connect to any matches online. :\
Guled said:to the people who want to be able to move slowly when aiming, what would that add? It would just break the game in terms of the AI and not really make the game any more fun
Just give her ammo, or set her to "attack mode" (B and press up on d-pad) and she'll go look for ammo herself. Learning how to utilize the shotgun and rifle effectively helps a lot too.Jon said:Observations:
- While playing single player, Sheva ran out of ammo quite often, and then became completely useless. She would get swarmed on and I would have to help her. Ammo was always an issue in the old RE games, and now if I have to share it with an NPC, it could get pretty hairy.
Truant said:Can you change her behaviour? If so, that would help a lot. I really enjoyed the Shanty Town segment, because that was more standard slow-paced RE gameplay, with some exploration, and item gathering. The other stuff was too hectic for me, at least with these controls.
By holding "B" and then pressing up or down you can change between cover and attack mode.Truant said:Can you change her behaviour? If so, that would help a lot. This is a good point to make. Everyone keeps saying hindsight is bs but if a game within the same genre shows that these controls can be done better while still maintaining tension then the gamer has every right to complain. The fact that they kept those controls is just silly.Cartman86 said:- Controls. This has been beaten to death, but thats because it makes sense. Dead Space showed you how to do it. You don't have to all of a sudden speed up the game or turn it into a FPS or third person shooter like Socom. You can still require the player to hold down the left trigger to aim. It's just now you can move slowly (very) while aiming. Dead Space proved it works great.
I'm pleased. Mission accomplished then? =p.GqueB. said:This is a good point to make. Its an odd suspension of disbelief thing where I have to believe this dude cant move and shoot at the same time all because Capcom has this weird idea of what "tension" is. What happens if I gave him a piece of chewing gum? Would he fall to the ground foaming at the mouth because he has no clue what to do with himself?
Why should gamers accept such a thing? They made the same game (and mistakes) they did YEARS ago with the previous game and somehow gamers have no right to complain and we say things like "cant please everybody". Yea you cant please everybody but at least please SOMEbody.
jakonovski said:I was...disappointed. At least Dead Space made an attempt to make the controls part of the game world. This Resident Evil thing is just silly clunky with the horrible UI font used in every second Japanese console game since whenever.
I got a feeling the shotgun won't knock him back as in RE4. Didn't the sniper rifle also knock them back or at least stun them with each shot? In RE5 you have to get a perfect headshot to stun him, and not even that is guaranteed depending on your timing.Rez>You said:nah, the first level is surprisingly overwhelming even for someone like me who played a shitload of RE4. Just persist with it, or hide in the bus or up in that area above the starting position (you have to climb up a few ladders to get there) and you can camp there if all else fails. :lol
the second level is difficult because Capcom werebastards andnice enough to take away our shotgun before throwing a chainsaw guy at us. In the final game he'll be easier thanks to everyone's favourite knock-back weapon.![]()

In some of the media released from the Oil Refinery and Warehouse levels, they show the Chainsaw man getting knocked back by the shotgun, although never floored.Sectus said:I got a feeling the shotgun won't knock him back as in RE4. One thing I'm curious to see is how they've handled the difficulty levels. Capcom's been doing a good job with their recent titles to make difficulty levels feel very different, I hope it's the same case with RE5.
jakonovski said:It looks out of place. Clashes with the rest of the game. We've had so many games this gen that have impeccable design. Why not here too?
Hmm, I've never considered that before. I actually steal her SMG at the start of that mission so I can one-shot->stun->melee attack guys effectively, but I'll switch weapons back again just before she jumps to the other building.Rez>You said:Also, I highly recommend stealing her machine gun and its ammo before taking on the chainsaw man, and giving Sheva the rifle. It makes the fight a bit more interesting.![]()

What other devolved mechanics does this game plan to surprise us with? "You just don't get 'survival horror,' man."
Weapons set in the top, bottom, left and right slots are quick selectable via the d-pad. You move weapons and the like around with the x button.ConsumerSquare said:The inventory is terrible. And is nobody worried that Capcom has built a game around NPCs? People have faith that Capcom is up to that? My breaking point with RE4 came when babysitting Ashley to "solve" a terrible videogame puzzle that even in 2005 seemed cliche. Back then the defenders were proclaiming the overuse of videogame conventions as some sort of celebration of the medium. I'm not sure that's going to fly in 2009.
Oh wow... totally missed that. Sorry.Rez>You said:Weapons set in the top, bottom, left and right slots are quick selectable via the d-pad. You move weapons and the like around with the x button.
It's a huge help, I recommend setting two weapons, a grenade and a healing item fyi.![]()
