SDCC: Last of Us movie announced.

Funnily enough we were talking about movie castings in the Remastered thread and I brought up Anson Mount for Joel.

Since the movie announcement this comes across my feed. lol

Yes he would be pretty good as well. The Bohannon character is basically a slightly nicer, slightly less angry Joel in the wild west.

She really does, though. Watch some of her mo-cap stuff and her facial expressions. Her eyes. You can see absolutely see that shine through in Ellie, even though the animations were hand drawn. They used Ashley as a reference point.

she's 30 years old............

Spoilers:

What do you guys think of the actress that plays Sarah in the game playing Sarah in the movie? Her performance in the game was pretty damn good for the short amount of time she was in it.

Was thinking this, actually. Wouldn't surprise me one bit. I remember Druckmann praising her.

I would agree with Anson Mount as Joel as well, but he doesn't really have star power right now (he's awesome and should be a star, though). I would imagine the producers would like a big name for either Joel or Ellie, and Ellie is the harder one to find a star for.

Yeah, she would be great! She's 15, but she looked really young in the Grounded doc.

jackman would be great. he has the star power and after watching prisoners theres no doubt he can pull off the role. but I doubt they can get him to do a video game movie.

Meh.

Not sure what's the point of making a game that's already so cinematic into a movie. At least not as ridiculous as that planned Heavy Rain movie

Anson Mount could pull of Joel perfectly. Their tones and even speech quirks are VERY similar in Hell on Wheels and TLOU.

You don't have to watch it. At least rumor is that Neil Druckmann will not kidnap you, take you to the movie theater and force you to watch the entire thing. Just rumors though.

Did I say that they're not allowed to do it? I'm just saying that I don't see the point, but it seems like you're not interested in a discussion anyway.

I don't like that they are considering changing the ending though.

From a storytelling perspective, TLoU's ending only exists because the player is in control and has to feel Joel's rampage through their own actions. If you're just telling that story from a third-person narrative perspective - it's a lot less meaningful.

Also, the ending relies a lot of shock value to have merit - so I understand changing it as a means of keeping the viewer on their toes.

Gaah it's story is kind of trite and B movie at best.

I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt but this is exactly how I feel. Never read/seen the Road, but supposedly they are very similar. IDK, solid acting and effects could sell the movie though.

No it doesn't it all, it plays to the entire theme of the story, I did a small writeup on the last page why.

Joel isn't hard to cast. Elle is harder but Maise isn't a bad choice.

I was hoping for either Hugh Jackman or Dylan McDermott

Neil should practice his writing a lot more if he's gonna be writing it.

Cool, but what are the odds this film will ever get made? It seems like every video game movie announcement of worth never goes anywhere. Whatever happened to the Metal Gear movie?

Or the Assassin's Creed movie.

Although it seems like the Uncharted movie is moving into production very soon.
