Sony confirms: more first party games to PC

This is a nice way to devalue the playstation platform.

Stupid move.
I agree, it muddies the water and makes PC gamers and people leaving XBox, more likely to go / stay with PC than buy a PS5....

It is a very poor strategy that undermines the new hardware launch.

The best messaging is... 'None of these games will ever appear on another platform, you NEED to buy this' , that is how to sell hardware.

Everyone wins.

Especially the company that makes Windows.

serious question but how does MS benefit from this? People interested in playing a game on the ps5 will do so, and existing PC gamers have an option to play a game they otherwise wouldn't have access to if they don't console game. I doubt Sony releasing ps5 games on Windows is gonna make even the slightest different to the bottom line of MS

Yeah you are right, PC isnt ready for PS5 games, its already ready for PS6 games :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Assure? Who's your source?
Do we really need one? Just on a techical note it won't be possible, as of today, to port a game that has been targeted with the bandwidth that SSD can deliver.
As I've said earlier.. this would go for the XSX as well, if MS still was in the console business.
"Generations" = Exploit he hardware as much as you can
MS = We have the power, but we rather want all others to join.
It's the One X all over again... (for now until PC catches up)

Why do you care if more or less buys PS5 as long as Sony produces hardware?

That port was a failure and just exposed how pointless the effort was.

Maybe a part of that yes and also pc people didn't really care about it.

After the fiasco has been Horizon port in PC (I have both versions and I prefer PS4 pro version regardless the differences in resolution and framerate) I only want more ports if they are handled by the authors not outsourced to a tier B studio.

Every company that dips their toe in the PC water ends up jumping in eventually. The market is too huge and dedicated to ignore. It just doesn't make any sense to skip it anymore.

It's not a perfect port, but in the end, it is a big upgrade over the console game, it looks great, it sold well, and it let more people play a great game. In what word is this a "failure"? Every PlayStation game is going to be coming to PC eventually, just learn to accept it now.

It's just hilarious that people still think this.

Microsoft releases Xbox games on pc: Microsoft are leaving console business and puts their shitty low selling games on pc.

Sony releases majority of games on pc: wow such passion and pro consumer.
Do you have a link saying Sony is releasing a majority of it's games on PC?
Also this isn't news Sony is releasing older games on PC.

It's not a 'big upgrade' , its a marginal one.... saying it's anything more is hyperbole.

It also works better on PS4, it doesn't crash.

eh this is gonna blow up in their face. will take resources away from first party studios who are already taking 5-6 years making one game. They need to give people a reason to buy a PS5 and if the hardcore see the games are coming to the PC, why would they invest in the ps5? everyone who didnt buy an xbox one this gen needs to ask themselves this.

Why are you worrying? I'll bet it will stay that way with their biggest games. They need to port their old games first and foremost.

Maybe a part of that yes and also pc people didn't really care about it.
Because it reduces the amount of leverage they have over the industry and how many exclusives and other content I will get... it also reduces the chances of them maximizing use of PS5 specific features.

On top of that I want the user base to grow so they can use economies of scale with the mid-gen refresh to pack more value in per dollar / euro.

The very fact that you can adjust the Field Of View to see more of the world and run it at over 60fps puts it over its console counterpart regardless of its hiccups.
Not for me. I have both versions and the difference in HDR quality (I play in the same TV) makes the console version look more appealing than the native 4K or 60 fps of the PC port. Obviously, in a ideal world I would prefer the PC version with the Ps4 HDR.

I understand that this is only my opinion, but for me HDR adds more for the image than native 4k or more frames.

In this moment, for example, I'm playing Greedfall in Ps4, even if I have the game also in PC and I can play it at 4k 60 fps, because HDr in the console version is so good that makes the pc version to look "plain", boring visually, for my tastes.

It crashes a lot I've heard and doesn't play properly at 60fps.... which means it is worse.

Those are on top of already-known problems with the game, including anisotropic filtering settings that don't work, stuttering at various points, animations that are locked at 30 fps, and a problem with the shader compilation process that can cause crashes when hard drive space is too low.

The fanboy shit in this thread is fucking sad.

People should be happy that more people are going to have a chance to play some rather excellent games. Instead people are flinging shit.

Forums were a mistake.

I don't understand your point point about laziness though
Sony don't need to put as much effort into games now since they rely on PC gamere for some quick cash if the game isn't good and doesn't perform well because of that.the quality of sie output will start to drop and they'll shoehorn more multiplayer shit

In fact after they have destroyed Xbox, they should be setting their sight on wrecking PC gaming by buying exclusivity away from Steam.... as EGS also snap up the other games.

Make PC a complete shitshow so people are forced to buy the only platform with all the games.... PlayStation.

That would be my approach. I be vicious AF.

We just have different priorities. Playing at 30fps and seeing the world become a blurry mess because of post processing or a choppy mess without it is a shit show. That goes for any game at 30fps. Don't even get me started on aiming at 30fps without some sort of auto assist cheating for you.

Man, I just went out for a bit and came here to see many parading those pseudo claims as hard facts. It must be pretty dry on PC and xbox. Go play some WOW, guys, and do naked mods on old games.

Forums are not a mistake. Letting people who have zero knowledge of potential consequences of such a supposed policy change join enthusiast forums, now that was a fucking mistake I can tell you.
It's not about whether other people get to play a few more games, I do not give a single flying fuck about that you choose your own platforms, it's about the value and long term health of our preferred platform.
It is also about the cringy and unbearable delusion of PC players who think they are gods entitled to access to literally every single game out there.

I will shoulder everything you listed to play at a higher FOV, resolution, and framerate. That goes for any game.

The compression you're referring to also known as DSC is "visually lossless" meaning no reduction in image quality.

But that would add latency, it's just not worth it. If you're serious about your PC gaming, get the new graphics cards.

Can you explain to me how you get less games by they still release the same amount but some of them comes to PC?

Because I can't seem to understand it. The only reason it could devalue the platform, is because there's less reason to buy the console. It only matters to investors and fanboys though.

Don't blame forums. Blane Sonygaf. To be fair though, there are plenty saying it's a good thing. Only the hardcore fanboys are sad over losing something they can use in the console war.

TmLCEh5.gif

Most likely the multiplayer of it, I can see them even go the extra mile and releasing MP of their SP games for free and rely on microtransactions and lure the PC gamers to buy the full version on PS5.

You've been saying this for a while now. You'd imagine that would ease the wounds a bit, yet here we are... Wonder if they will try to complete with Gamepass since it's so successful. Win=win for people with pc's.
If their is one thing we can say about GamePass despite the hidden numbers, it's that it isn't successful financially.

It's a value proposition from Microsoft (especially with all the $1 deals doled out) because their first-party output has been so poor.

What latency? Do you know how responsive and precise games are playing at such a high framerates like 120Hz. I know you're looking for a "gotcha" but this ain't it. I am not a professional Counter Strike player using a mouse and keyboard, nor am I a machine haha.

Get some help, seriously.

PlayStation - platform with all the games, except some of of the absolute best games of this year, like:

Factorio
Deep Rock Galactic
Half-Life: Alyx
Satisfactory
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

The company that makes Windows is an embarrassment to technology itself.
Their storefront, trash. Their UI, trash. Oh wait, I meant their 2 UIs because it's so hard to unify their design language within 10 years huh.
Their hardware, overpriced and weak. Their browser I mean 2nd browser oops I mean 3rd browser trash.
They are a soulless company of failure.
A billion users and by the worst OS update/upgrade mechanism in history. Utter trash.

Meh, I'd be more excited if HZD wasn't a mess. If all they do is straight ports then that's just not very interesting. Cheaper & better to buy a console, finish the games & sell it off.

Bloodborne would be cool but otherwise 🤷‍♂️

No gotcha moment, mate. I have has standards when it comes to picture quality, and most of those monitors are 8-bit to begin with. You need to read more about those converters and monitors picture quality. Anyway, what I like shouldn't affect what you like. Enjoy.

Just goes to show, some people don't play games...they play specs.

You think I'm not beating these games playing through them at high framerates and resolutions. Playing Samurai Jack at 4K 120Hz. That game is overlooked and a steal for $40. Great combat, Is canon to the TV show, and has a secret ending that is the true ending of the Samurai Jack saga.

I may not be a shareholder but I am a stakeholder, as a loyal customer it is logically in my interest to want the platform to perform to the highest levels and giving away content that would potentially attract players to PlayStation instead of keeping it exclusive is just stupid.

It undermines the entire concept of making the games in the first place..... these games cost over 100 million to make because direct profit from the game is not the driving factor. The game is a showpiece to attract people to buying Playstation hardware......and additional software and subs.

You come from PC, that has no company cultivating it..... it's a different concept. So maybe you have to wrap your head around the idea of consoles.

PlayStation is a competing platform to PC, the games are a factor in that competition...what you want to do is take away PlayStations advantage because it is in your interest but it damages competition and the industry. If you want PlaySTation games... buy one and contribute to the industry instead of being cheap.

VESA told you that DSC is lossless compression. The LG C9 is also a 10bit display.

This exactly.
I'm Xbox only --- well Xbox and Switch and I think it's great our games are on PC. It seems the PCMRs really like Xbox games. There are 4 or 5 in the top 20 sellers on Steam Global even though they are all available on PC Game Pass. FS2020 is still at #5 and Wasteland 3 from InXile (now an XGS Dev) is at #2.

This is fantastic because it means more game revenue for Xbox to buy more studios and make more games. Plus I'm happy to see PC gamers seem to enjoy Xbox games as much as Xbox fans do.

Yeah that's why PlayStation users are the ones port begging the least.
While PC users need a smug orgy every time some troll spreads false rumours about a PS game coming to Steam lmao.

I'm sure we'll see more games on PC. Right now Sony only stated they will explore expanding their 1st party titles to PC. Doesn't hurt to dream about what games could possibly release on PC.
