Sony confirms: more first party games to PC

Exploring doesn't mean all their games and day one. "Confirmed" lol. Horizon Is already on PC. You know......a sloppy ported title that's being used to get you to buy a PS5.

I so love that PC gamers are having this new found obsession with Sony games. Turns out the m@s$(er r$ce was consoles all along

Sony just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase PS5, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.
Sony, publicly apologize and cancel any planned port for PC or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I'm not trying to prove anything, I'm discussing. And TLOU2 on PC few months from now is also possible.

TOBYHANNA MAN STRIKES AGAIN

No, not at all. This isn't an argument.

Because Sony studios aren't starving for funding. Games will probably get more lazy further down the line.
But big AAA development will continue to get more expensive and Sony will have to pull money out of their ass?

I am not saying they need to put some select games on PC, there are other ways to increase revenue, but it just makes sense to do so (for some games!)

I don't understand your point point about laziness though.

I do not think its a good idea as it devalues the ps5 knowing that you will soon be able to get those block buster exclusives on pc at some point. I for one do not want Sony to go MS route but we will see how bad Sony's Playstation struggles to survives without anything distinguishing it from other platforms.

People are overlooking this part:

You don't achieve that with just "old PS4 games".

They'll be launching PS5 games on PC as well. It might not be day and date at first but the gap between console release and PC release is going to shrink.

that's cause this thread only focused on the last part of the whole information and purposefully ignored the main objective lol

"SIE aims to achieve robust revenue growth by accelerating the virtuous cycle that has been established for the PlayStation Platform. This entails increasing active users and play time, enhancing network services and reinforcing content IP so that consumers select PlayStation as their platform of choice.

Targeted outcomes include growth in active users, stronger retention and a shorter cash conversion cycle, from which expanded cash flow can be expected.
We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability "

As always, a lot of people who care waaay too much about their games not being exclusives anymore, despite the fact this doesn't affect them in the least.

Time y'all learn to actually enjoy games instead of just looking for toys to brag about online.

Doesn't say games will be released day one though ? I expect them to put out games on pc and so they should but I still don't think they should put games on pc day one imagine ps console's being the worst place to play your own 1st party exclusives from the very first day of games release and would that Hurt Thier business ? ....there's so many things they need to think about before doing things like this piracy/cheaters amongst other things.. they are not ms ps console sales etc are bread and butter to them..... Maybe they will open they own online games store like steam/epic though .

Microsoft releases Xbox games on pc: Microsoft are leaving console business and puts their shitty low selling games on pc.

Sony releases majority of games on pc: wow such passion and pro consumer.

This is how most of the internet works nowadays.

Good news for PC gamers. Just wait it out.

I guess buying Sony games on PC contributing to Sony's balance sheet isn't enough for some. The hardcore Sony gamer wants you PC gamers to buy into the whole PS ecosystem of console, PS+, and PSVR too.

Your call.

It says they will explore it. That's all. They haven't announced any other game aside from HZD and none of the new games are even being hinted at.

If I were Sony I would port PS4 games. Let them get a second lease. It won't affect their PS5 business.

Also multiplayer focused games should be PS5/PC to have bigger userbase.

I'm sure this is exactly what they will do, release older titles to PC. Even if they were to release new games too, i really don't care. I have no interest playing on PC, we are getting 60 fps options on most next gen first party games anyway.

I know about those, but it's still compressed. HDMI 2.1 is 48Gbps vs 32.4Gbps on DP 1.4. It's good for the meanwhile anyway. If you prefer PC gaming, then good for you.

The compression you're referring to also known as DSC is "visually lossless" meaning no reduction in image quality.

That's not how this went down. The developers didn't know they was going to port to PC. Sony got new management and it was right around that time that rumors started spewing about PC ports for exclusives. These PS4 game developers had no clue they would be porting to the PC when they first started developing the games. This came much later and all the studios were probably informed. My contact tried to give me as little information as possible but when that rumor of HZD came out he was very clear in saying "there will be more". I'm sure all the studios had mass meetings about it.
Sony's 1st party games have legs well into the ~3 year mark, enough legs to shift entire consoles. They not going to lose that golden goose, it would be extremely poor business acumen. Any 1st party games that make the jump over to PC are going to be in the +3 year ball park. Just my take on it.

I think HZD is a bit of an outlier personally because of the Kojima Pro/DECIMA link.

Sounds like they are following in MS' footsteps.
Day one releases on PC - doesn't sound like it.

Microsoft's approach wouldn't work for Sony because their first-party games are on GamePass day one, and their still losing money on that. Sony would rather keep selling big on their first-party and double-dip on PC a year or 2 later.

It was mentioned ages ago already. Multiplayer games most certainly day and date on PC and console.
Single player games are rolled out to PC later on.
I'm guessing Bloodborne for PC is getting announced soon.
Bloodborne on on PC with unlocked fps (if that's possible) would be amazing, though I'd also like a PS5 release as I don't own a controller for my PC.

Yup. Glad my insider claims were finally confirmed. I guess we can close that chapter.
You've been saying this for a while now. You'd imagine that would ease the wounds a bit, yet here we are... Wonder if they will try to complete with Gamepass since it's so successful. Win=win for people with pc's.

That sounds great. I'll still be playing their games on consoles, but the more people that can access their games the better.

Nice to see Sony has some actual gaming fans as opposed to worshippers of a particular plastic box.

Was gonna say. Can a mod edit the title? In a massive corporate statement they have one sentence saying they will explore PC releases. And that sentence is following a sentence saying they want people to choose the playstation platform.

Anyone who thought otherwise was in denial. Both Sony and Microsoft are moving to a platform model. They both have same destination but different paths to get there dependent on their respective strengths/weaknesses. Suspect that Sony will be partnering with EGS for the PC storefront.

There will be a time when both Xbox/Sony games will launch on PC, streaming, and their respective Console via Game Pass/PS Now day 1.

What do you mean, move to a platform model?

PlayStation and Xbox are already platform models, and always have been.

Bringing a decade old game to PC only to get extra money to increase the funding for the sequel game that Will look 10x better and make PC gamers salivating for It and considering getting a PS5.

SONY always wins in the end.

At the release of the port they had a blog post saying "and after HZD come check out forbidden west". Its really a good way to market future titles.

Lol we know you hate playstation already

Ive owned every single Playstation and have already played GOW on my Pro. I sure have given them alot of money for something I hate. With that being said gaming at 30fps is not impressive. You should see and feel what DMC5 looks/plays like at 120Hz. GOW is trapped and needs to be freed.

I wouldn't get too excited, it probably means the less successful titles and maybe older titles in a franchise....

I would also get ready to hear they are buying some big studios.... Kadokawa is a target since they are expanding Funimation and want to dominate anime, so From Soft would come with that.

Then you'd be waiting 5-7 years till the end of generation for a port if they decide to do one.

With companies like Warner Interactive going towards GAAS and less and less companies doing AAA narrative driven games, the entire industry seems to lean more and more on PlayStation to provide all the high quality content.

Games like Uncharted, GOW and Ghost of Tsushima will not go to PC.

Wow. Ms develops games for more than one platform and they are literally roasted alive for crippling next gen by developing more than one version.

Sony does it and its a good idea. Where are all the posters now that trashed ms for this? I certainly don't see them posting here. I suppose they say frantically "but its not same day release!"........ but that may not be the case. Even then they like will start development with both platforms in mind. We could "this" but then the pc version won't be able to.........idea scrapped........

Yeah. The statement follows a paragraph that ends saying they want playsation to be the platform of choice through IP content. It also says "exploring" following the release of 1 badly recieved port.

That's why PS5 is there, it will not be on PC. They are busy working on the sequel...

When the biggest exclusives start getting systematically released day one on PSNow and PC, you can go ahead.

It's smarter to spend 1400 dollars for a graphics card in hope of playing Bloodborne 5 years away from its realease.

With the uniqueness of PS5 hardware, PS5 games comming to PC becomes virtually impossible. Thats the Last gen PC gamers could have a taste of PS exclusives.

Sony, the Merciful!
