Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Heh. That feeling when the enemy throws a Killer Wail in front of your improvised two-squid strike team... and you manage to hit Bubbler before it fires, protecting you both.

Just started playing, it's fun. There's a lot more to keep track of, though, and so much gear. I think for now, I'm making a +Special Duration, +Special Charge, +Run Speed from what I have available and then keeping the Jr. for some invincible rushes.

I hope some of the new weapons catch my fancy. I probably need something to fight at range, and a melee-ish build eventually.

Does the item allowing you to mega jump where you put it seem a little too small on the minimap to anyone else?

It's easy to miss I doubt teammates use it

Yeah, it seems easy to overlook. Which is too bad, because it could be crazy useful if the team paid attention to it. I ended up just using it myself and planting a new one every time I jumped to it.

My god, I can't stop playing! It's so so good!

Also don't forget: don't be afraid of roller players!

I guess displaying it as large as a player icon would make it a bit too powerful but as it is you pretty much have to know it's there to use it

So how's the game? Didn't plan on buying it at all today but since I was just given a visa gift card I'm contemplating it. Worth it?
As Destructoïd said, the foundation is fantastic. Splatoon will keep on improving over the next weeks. I'd say it's a classic in the making.

There's also the fact that the opposing team can also see your beacons on their map, so if it was a big icon, it'd be easier for the other team to notice.

So instead of waiting in line for amiibos this morning I decided to play Splatoon. Got to level 10, so I did my part there. Had about a 17 win streak in the last map cycle which I'm pretty happy with, especially since I had a few breaks in that period. Knocked out the first world in single player which I'm really enjoying. Hopefully there will be an additonal DLC campaign at some point in the future.

Secretly, I'm hoping for a horde mode or co-op mode of some sort, but of course with the requisite Nintendo twist.

I got crazy lucky this morning. Decided to hit up the nearby gamestop on a whim and BAM! One unclaimed 3-pack was waiting of me. First amiibo purchase. WHAT HAVE I BEGUN?!

Ha, true, hadn't noticed that. Maybe they could make it "pulse" or something on your own map then.

I'm eager to get to play other modes as some items should prove more interesting there.

I'm waiting for the Octoling campaign and multiplayer DLC. Don't let me down Nintendo

I downloaded it last night around 10:30pm (eshop West Coast FTW) and said, "OK, lemme try a couple of maps for a half hour and play it more tomorrow after work". Lost track of time and didn't realize it was already 1am.

I get the limited maps complaint as I kinda exhausted myself from playing the multiplayer arenas toward the end of my playtime and then found the single player mode which was entertaining.

I am not disappointed and would recommend it. Its fun and not insanely complex, I'm usually awful at shooters and felt the game is pretty balanced.

You will lose hours and hours worth of sleep playing this game. :(

Does your streak restart when the new maps are loaded? It's something I've noticed unless I just start to suck before the maps rotate.

This gets me thinking. I understand why red and, to some extent, brown aren't in the game, but why not black and white ink? What's bad about that?

But I guess it's more a visibility issue, half the stages are made of black or white. Also White is the universal blank state so it's probably easier for everyone if you're painting on white rather than painting with it.

I tested the impact of abilites a bit with "bomb range up".
For those who are interested:
It seems like the effect of an ability doesn't stack when it's on the same piece of equipment. I have a hat with 2 "bomb range up" abilities and a hat with 1. same range!
If the ability is on different pieces it stacks! so with "bomb range" on my hat and and my shoes I can throw bombs even further.

I don't know if it's already known here. But I think it's nice to know ^

EDIT: I gotta correct myself. It seems like they do stack. but the secondaries have less impact, which seems reasonable. but the secondaries seem much weaker than the primaries. can anyone confirm that?

Been playing for a few hours now. I've been on top 99% of the time for all my matches even when losing. Over 900p at the least all of the time. I felt really cool being number 1 by a huge margin in my first match when there was a level 17 there. I still like the starter gun quite a lot, but I'm trying to vary it up to see if there's anything else I take a fancy to. 52 gallon seems alright with it's range and damage. I don't feel like being a roller right now, but I know I'll eventually go back to it.

The single player lengths of 4-6 hours seem right from what I've played. Not a ton of levels from what I see and they aren't especially difficult right now with me being at stage 5 and above. Wish I had the 3 pack since I want to see those specific weapon challenges and get my schoolgirl outfit. Have no idea when walmart is going to send me my 3 pack.

Overall, fun as hell.

Also an ability that seems super useful is the one that spots people on the map and in the world. I don't think I had it or know what activated it on the persons gear, but all I know is that no enemy could hide in the ink from me. It helped a lot. Still love shooting people who jump to other teammates locations too.

I'm considering picking this game up tomorrow. Looking through the OP, though, it seems a lot of features of the game aren't active yet. What's the compelling reason to pick it up now and not a couple months down the road in August, and save money?

I would love a black and white mode where the ink is black and white, and so is the picture.

Or a sepia mode, I guess, but then you'd have to play as cuttlefish.
