The answer is that Twenty is awesome.

The Farmer Holmes snapping bit was better than some episodes of the first season man! And yeah Twenty is awesome.

It seems Bandai Visual is having a lot of success with their theatrical/OVA format releases, bypassing TV broadcast entirely. But Warner doesn't have as much luck with Berserk at all. 11k for Berserk is pretty bad for a big theatrical reboot of a well loved manga franchise. While 30k for the first volume of Yamato 2199 is really fantastic. It'll be interesting to see how Yamato 2199 Vol2 does next month. Gundam Unicorn is just a monster though.

As anachronistic as the space-age biker slavers seemed, in all their 80's technicolor glory, this was yet another great episode. Loved the chase at the end with all the mechanical animation and the surfeit of explosions; Votoms certainly hasn't let up on the action. The way the show utilizes harsh lighting is very appealing as well; there's always a striking contrast between the light and dark.

And Chirico suffers yet again in this episode. Dude is made of rock.

Hey, remember those awesome fantasy scenes from Whisper of the Heart with The Baron that were basically a reflection of Shizuku's story and emotional state? You do?! Well, why don't we make a movie based off of that but without all the stuff that made it awesome in the first place? Really, you think it's a good idea?! Excellent! Then let's call it The Cat Returns so we can, y'know... remind people of just how awesome Whisper of the Heart was? Yeah!! I'm glad you also think it's a great idea senile Miyazaki!!!

Ugh, how could anyone possibly put something as boring and inconsequential as this above a masterpiece like Whisper of the Heart? I just don't get it.

Oh well, at least this had Muta and Cat Haru was pretty cute so this wasn't a complete waste of time... right???

What do you think the upcoming Code Geass OVAs can do? 100kish? Is it getting hyped up to be something near Unicorns level?

I don't think 100k-ish is realistic at all. It's a new cast, new setting, and there's no Lulu who is the main selling point of the original series. But given a good marketing campaign, if there's strong word of mouth from the theatrical screening, I can see the BD/DVD release pulling in 50k or so, which should be considered very good.

My understanding was that it is reverse-import protection though.

Not all Disney straight-to-video sequels are subpar, though... most are, certainly, but Aladdin's two sequels at least were both reasonably good.

The Farmer Holmes snapping bit was better than some episodes of the first season man! And yeah Twenty is awesome.

Not much in Farmer Holmes was better than much of anything in the franchise... the basic plot of that arc wasn't very good and could have been introduced better, too; I mean, yes, they're Milky Holmes, but the sheer degree of their forgetfulness was ... somewhat odd, compared to the end of S1.
