Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito 7

Oh... So that blue-haired girl is a devil that has spawned from Ririsu in the past, and that's why she holds a grudge against her. And everyone's ok with that. Here, Hatsuki, have some tea. Alright.

And she just disappears afterward! She's not even with them in the boat in that scene from the previous episode. Oh, well. At least the "periperi" thing made some sense, I guess.

"Did you just sing?" "No lol" "Of course lol"

Who doesn't like these scenes? It's funny how, according to anime, only the most crazy and obsessed girls do that. The examples are endless.

So they both like each other but can't go full yuri because...?

Bwahaha.

I love how Yami explains one character as "someone that Lillith created and then forgot about"

The style or at least the characters looked kind of different in that one then the current one, like making the series seem more darker and the characters looking older? Its hard to describe. (watched a few clips from the exam arc). Think I prefer the new.

Well, they kind of mutilated/censored important scenes and the music isnt as good
I actually cracked up laughing when they changed the
Killua Heart Rip from him squashing the heart in his hand, to having him put it in a mc'donalds takeout bag
The voice actors being different really put me off too (this may be nostalgia but I dont like the new ones)
and the characters are now composed of super bright colours

but if you prefer that then nobody can convince you I suppose

I'll probably keep looking at clips of the old as long as people say which fights were changed so I get the full experience. So hopefully people keep discussing the old anime every now and then.

For Heavens Arena I did see clips of the original
Gido Gon 1st fight, which seemed to have better animation in the older anime then the new

In order to reconcile these two opinions, I've learned to judge things on two scales. One that is as objective (at least, as objective as I can manage), and another that is completely and totally subjective. For me, quality of a work has very little to do with how much I enjoy something.

At one point I would have agreed with that but I've later come to the stage where enjoyment is quality in of itself. There is no such thing as an objective analysis unless it's very rudimentary things like time taken to draw something or the level of polygons used to render a car. Enjoyment is a quality in of itself. Separating works into two separate categories is not only meaningless but incorrect.

The fights involving kurapica and the phantom troupe around that arc are going to be heavily censored
Im kind of interested in seeing how exactly

but it isnt just the fights, Hisoka seemed less creepy and they changed some strange things

Wiil that arc really ONLY be focused on Kurapika? With all this Gon Killua focus, I can only imagine they will ignore those two for weeks and only focus on Kurapika :/ or worst Leorio (whats he even doing?).

ooh cg super saiyan! The whole 'power system' in this show is pretty interesting.

I do find it a bit hilarious that you can even see funky energy lines on film. I guess camera lenses capture more shit than eyes can normal see.

Wait... why did the kid walk in to a dark alley in the first place? Weirdo.

I do like Killua's look a bit more than in the previous show. Those eyes are great.

That dude with the ghost arm looks like some dude in a game's character creator if you rotate the eyes a bit too much lmao.

so you are not a fan of Koch teasing?

Please! Stop it already, M14! You are making poor Galil even more confused, look at this:

Galil needs special attention and understanding, you know?

For those interested, I'm posting a series of translation summaries for interviews with younger Ufotable staff in various departments, in the Fate/Zero thread. :)

It might take a while, because I'm lazy, but the first two are up now.

Wow. Wow.

Besides the same complaint everyone else has already mentioned, this episode was phenomenal. The direction of the entire scene where
Kariya snaps was extremely intense. It's a really dark turn to take with his character, but it works. It seems like everyone is at the mercy of trolling duo Kirei and Gilgamesh, and it's as darkly amusing to watch as it is heartbreaking.

Sankarea 8

I was wrong. Jex and Mad Pierrot were right. I can't believe in this show anymore.

JoKae.jpg

Am I going crazy, or is part of this background CG?

This episode wasn't particularly worse than any of the four before it. But it squanders any faith I had that the show might return to its earlier quality anytime soon. It's just blandly uninteresting now. I can't bring myself to give a shit about Chihiro and Rea's relationship in its current state, and Wanko feels totally superfluous to everything. I don't feel like
Furuya being kidnapped by the Sanka family
is going to lead to anything worth watching in the near future.

For some reason I held out a hope that the direction and writing had some sort of purpose and intelligence behind them, but a lot of what happened here suggested that they don't really know what they're doing.

ZoUDq.jpg

Like, with the ending of 6, I thought they might be implying something, but I have no idea what they're doing here, which makes me think less of everything I've been confused about before.

Anything can happen in the four or five episodes the show has remaining, so I'm not completely ruling out the possibility that something good will happen, but I'm not willing to watch week by week to wait and see anymore. Maybe if a ton of positive impressions show up for an upcoming episode, I'll return.

little easter egg. Mutta is riding a Boeing 787 (You can tell from the saw like pattern on the engines I think).

I guess that plane sold decently in the future eh?

And jeebus. Mutta logic is best logic.

btw:

lol derp hands.... but wait.

I'm almost derp!

I blame kyoani's cute little hands D:

Those fingers still lack a few joints though lol.

I'd be more concerned about the fact that she is throwing up westside gang symbols.

Arcade Gamer Fubuki 1-2 -

This is simply "okay-ish". Silly arcade and gamer-related antics (with a plethora of panty-shots). (Still better than The Humanoid and Suikoden Demon Century )

Also, who knew there was a time SHAFT drew nipples?

Not this guy!

It's also a secret episode of Maury.

Lupin III: A Woman named Fujiko Mine 8

Oh heya there

Poor Lupin, habing to settle for
Zenigata's sloppy seconds.

The episode wasn't as boring as last week's, yet I still wasn't "feeling it." Save for this week's
trippy
scene and the funny
electrocution execution on the cross scene,
the whole thing didn't make me "feel" anything. Though I usually am a sucker for
Jigen and Lupin
on-screen together, the former barely got any screentime while the latter took a bit more of a "straight-faced" role all-around. Not to get me wrong, I am fine with serious Lupin, but it didn't add much to the episode for me this time as it did, say,
at the end of the pyramid episode
.

Ah well, average episode.

Oh, and I thought Berserk was bad.

Well, I guess Bereserk is bad, but that's downright sickening. Do people actually read and it enjoy Wolf Guy?

Before that happened, it was actually pretty good. Good art, decent fights, not bad plot. Then the rape happened and it got really boring. Even when it was over, it pretty much overshadowed everything else and killed all buildup for an epic climax. If it wasn't for that, the ending it got might have actually been pretty cool.

So cheesy yet nice. Nice battleish episode and finally confirmation of
Fiona as one of Monado's partners
. The visuals for battles are so flashy and sound well, for both protagonists and antagonists.

When Tamayuri hime awakens I can't imagine how well and powerful the abilities will become.
Takuma's fire powers, cant wait for those to awaken and what they turn out to be

I was on team Urabe for awhile, but damn Oka. I think I may have to join the better team.

Tsubaki
getting jealous was pretty funny. Wanting those golden legs to himself, what a selfish guy!

His smile looks weird.

Well, well, at the end of my previous impressions I requested to see more of
the havoc Truth could bring, and I was given just that!

The eyecatches, the eyecatches are everywhere.

Poor Ao got some
NTR'd
by
Truth
.

I guess girls are into the bad boys around this time in their lives.

I felt pretty indifferent towards this. It wasn't boring like some of the episodes have been, but I didn't "like it" all that much either, save for
some explosions and delicious NTR
.

Anyways, lesson is
dreams
are strange things...

Naruto Shippuden 104 - 112

Overall was an enjoyable filler arc. Best part were the combination Ninjutsu's introduce in the previous set then used again here (Combination Ninjutsu Wind Style Water Pistol Jutsu). Tobi was great all throughout in it. I forget his English va but that silly voice is perfect and all those hilarious moments with Deidara made this unforgettable. "That's the secret, you got no cool, you got no art" - Deidara.

The Galilbro pictures are amazing and
I hope anime canon
. But Galil is truly a very special person who needs attention and understanding.
Yeah. Galilbro shows a true connection with his 'raifu'.

Also, the next one is certainly the best joke from M14 & Mr. Tennōji. All that 'speculah', gone on a whim:

Space Brothers 9

Ah yes, the
unknown incurable disease that always serves as a plot point. Maybe I missed some part but if that disease kills a lot of people and they already know they need zero gravity of the ISS to do the research to get the cure then wouldn't they have already done that?

Space Brothers 9:
Interesting to get some more info on the backgrounds of the other characters.
The scenes with Kenji's family were fun (and I liked them touching on how going to space would effect them), and we have a bit of an idea about Serika's motivations, too. Mutta's reaction to Hibito also provided some interesting drama.

I'm impressed by the authenticity of the show and the continued focus on genuine drama. It's such a refreshing show to watch.

madp

The Light of El Cantare
Suikoden Demon Century:

Shit sux. That was maybe the most unremarkable 45 minutes of anime I've ever watched, and as several of us here have agreed, boring is the worst kind of bad. It's lost in the endless sea of failed 90s OVA pilots for a reason.

Idol Fighter Su Chi Pai:

Is it just me or do video game adaptations have a tendency to give no fucks about viewers unfamiliar with the source material? It's generally an excuse to forgo things like character introductions, good editing, logical presentation of the narrative, etc. Not that I should really be expecting any of this from a 25-minute OVA about girls in fetish clothing beating each other up and something something mahjong something, but I feel as though this is a common problem!

The really hammy English dub helped to make this actually kind of enjoyable in spite of the nonsense plot. I can't believe that there was a time when female VAs for English dubs of fanservice anime didn't sound like they were being forced to shoot porn at gunpoint.

Arcade Gamer Fubuki 1-2:

This was so insane that it was actually genuinely enjoyable. Basically, it's Kinnikuman with arcade games instead of wrestling and a ton of the gratuitous-but-vanilla fanservice you'd expect from a turn-of-the-millennium anime. Something like this really couldn't exist today, and I suddenly find myself softening toward the experimental comedies from the early digital age that Fubuki is emblematic of.

The show also has Mine Yoshizaki character designs, which is always a plus. In spite of the enormous number of pantyshots it's pretty innocent fun, and I recommend giving it a try if you can handle just how bizarre it is. It's not entirely clear in the show at first, but it ends up being completely self-aware about its weirdness, which saves the production from simply feeling extraordinarily animu.
