I know you could scavenge droids on the starter planet and likely gather animal parts with bioanalysis , but would there be any point to getting archaeology prior to leaving your starter planet?

I think you can only get crew skills for the first time at the republic fleet which is when you leave the starter planet so none of that really matters.

I'm probably going to find armor I like at low level and keep it. I remember I really liked this level 10 imperial agent light 1 gear.

I find the giant fuck off pyramid shoulders awesome.

Granted, I also think the Troll themed armor is also the best armor in WoW

Have you seen the raid gear it is all pretty ugly. To be fair I guess it is unofficial.

I can confirm seeing these for sale from the raid vendors in-game in the last two or three builds. It's as official as it gets unfortunately (low res textures notwithstanding) :(

It's ok. I played a Mage in WoW. I'm used to having the worst looking tier armor in general.

Holy Sith, how ugly the Op armors are.

NeoGAF Empire, your glorious guild master (that's me) won't be organizing Ops for the armor is too ugly to be worth the effort (that said, i'm willing to take part in them). Feel free to volunteer to be Operations Master.
Besides, i lack any raid experience so you don't want me to lead one...

Eh, PVP servers weren't locked to one faction like WoW's were originally? Wondering because i have my Republican-side and i was thinking of making an alt for Fonds' guild and hoping that Fonds' Republicans have their Better-side and will make alts mains to our glorious guild.

Ignoring the grace period, I don't really see the problem with people ordering a digital version getting their codes first. That seems expected.

It wouldn't be a problem if there was still a grace period.

Agreed, I'm just saying it's not really outrageous that a company would cater to customers that make purchases that give said company the most money.

It will be interesting to see how this launch day turns out. I feel pretty awful for saying it, but if a large percentage retail people can't get into the game on launch maybe the servers won't be awful the first day(I already sense hatred being exuded at me :X).

Oh god the Operation armor is HIDEOUS! There's not a single redeeming quality on any of it, they all look like some variation of TMNT/Power Rangers enemies. No amount of higher resolution textures will save that armor.

Dammit, i really regret not playing IA more in the stress test. The male voice is quite good, suiting a Chiss rather well. But what about the female voice? Is the acting good? Fitting for a secret agent?

Probably going for Chiss male Imperial Agent Sniper regardless.

I've seen some cool looking armor in the game. For instance:

Where can you find that in the game? Seems like it would be high end armor.

Oh yea the female voice is better than the male one. It's voiced by the same chick who did female hawke in DA2, but its way better than that.

The female IA voice is fantastic. Her Dromund Kaas (British) accent makes me melt.

Do we know the male actor's name by the way? The female actor is Jo Wyatt (IIRC, sp?).
Looks like i need to play DA2 tomorrow a bit, played it with male Hawke and i cannot remember how Wyatt sounded as female Hawke.
Probably going with male Agent anyway.

I wonder how the pre-made guilds work exactly. We're assinged servers... and the first character you make for your guild's side is assinged to that guild? Or are you asked if you wish to assing this particular character to the guild?
I wonder about this as i'm not keen on juggling the guild leadership a lot in case i don't like my first character for reason or other and remake it.

Damn I really am the odd man out here in regards to armor style. I think it all looks pretty great, then only thing I hate are some of the really shitty looking helmets in the game. Then again I like shit that looks like this:

I still have no idea what is going on.

People who preordered and were in the beta are being given "early access"? This means they get full access to the final retail product for a week before everyone else?

People who ordered a digital copy are going to be able to login after they receive an email on the 16th?

The game officially launches on the 20th, but retailers aren't shipping copies until then, possibly making it so people who ordered online won't even receive their copy until after christmas?

People are whining that Bioware didn't continue the free play period all the way up to (and beyond) the official launch?

People ordered from Amazon expecting launch day delivery? What planet are they from? I have repeatedly had launch day delivery from EB, but have never heard of Amazon pulling this off. Why didn't these people just order from EB or plan to walk into Best Buy on day one?

I would just want to walk to the store, buy the game on the 20th, come home and play. I assume this will be possible. Why is there so much drama?

FWIW it anyone out there was wondering I deleted my stress test beta client and redownloaded the one today and it comes out to 18.4 gigs. If you are questioning the size of the client. I don't recall the size of the stress test client.

Thats with logging into launcher to see if there is a patch.

Anyone who preordered gets in before the official 20th street-date. They announced this the day preorders went live. The earlier the preorder, the earlier chance to get in.

BioWare stated from the beginning there was going to be a grace period. Just recently, they went back on their word. This isn't new to MMOs. Most MMOs post-WoW have had early access as well as grace periods to allow give their customers some leeway to get their copies before cutting them off. Understandably, people are upset about it.

Amazon has always had release-date delivery. What are you talking about? The only people I see having problems, that I'm aware of, are people who ordered the CE.

I'm still fine with preordering my CE from Gamestop. I should hopefully be able to pick it up only a couple hours after early access ends.

I'm not worried about the armor looks...and from what I understand, you can theoretically keep the same armor (that you like the look of) until end game (and beyond?) if you keep modding it.

Besides, the raid armor from Vanilla WoW was L o L

The font is jank, I know. I am not coming up with anything better and it's frustrating the shit out of me.

I am going to step away from it for now.

Thoughts? Ideas?[/QUOTE]

I think that same font would look better if you just do 1 or 2 layers of stroke/outlining, and make the shifting of colors from top to bottom less "smooth", make the styling look more like the "Old Republic" text basically.

Judgement Armor!!

Is this true? The cost of resetting talents drops to zero credits after a week of not resetting your talents? Because that would make raiding very flexible if you have to have someone move into healing or tanking. Brilliant idea to be honest.

Well, they pretty much said dual spec would be in some day.

I bet every Paladin in WoW is using Judgement armor now that blizzard added that gear system.

Gear System?

Wow, I hope so. Switching between Healing and DPS for free would be great.

Really? First time I heard of that, but very good idea if true.

I saw it from here.

Q: Since it has been clearly stated that there will not be dual specs for characters in the game, can you explain your philosophy behind the skill trees and how you are taking into account players that want to be able to play PvP and PvE content on the same character? - illumineart

A: Dual Speccing is something we want to add soon after launch. Also, features like Guard, PvP Taunt, Resolve, etc. work to narrow the gap between PvP and PvE specialized skills (i.e. a +Block skill would be helpful in both PvE and PvP).

Of course... they could be LIARS!
