"Why is my credit card authorized for the full game amount?

Please note that you will only be paying a deposit for the game when ordering for the official pre-order program. You will not need to pay the full amount until you obtain your physical copy of the game. This should apply to both physical retailers, and online retailers. Please be advised that if you order through the Origin Online Store, your credit card will be authorized for the full amount of the purchase price, but rest assured that when the transaction is processed you are only charged the actual pre-order fee."

This is a pretty common thing.

Even still, they should only charge for the $20 for the CE and $5 for the others.

Also, on their preorder website it clearly says this:

If your request is successful, your credit card will be charged for the pre-order. Your card will be charged for the price of the edition you ordered when the game is released.

I was reading this as charged for the preorder price not preorder price plus the pre-authorzation.

Preordered through Amazon, already received my code and activated it.

And just a heads up for those using Chrome, the setup for the swtor website wants IE8 or Firefox 3.0.

Hmmm interesting. Hopefully they do it by days. I registered a standard ed 5 minutes in and the retail collectors 14 hours in. If I get penalized with the ce I will just keep the se.

Geez, really? Lame. Amazon has some pretty slow arse shipping here unless you pay like $40. :\

I payed US$174.93 to have the CE sent over with 2-5 day shipping. So US$25 for the 2-5 day shipping. I'm sure the same shipping would be less for the standard edition.

So, even though I said I wouldn't because of the exclusive to Origin bs, I ordered a retail CE. I'm slightly confused about the early access code though. I ordered from wal-mart and got an email earlier saying the the early access code had shipped, with a tracking number o_O. Wtf is that lol, wonder why they couldn't just email the code.

I haven't been able to keep up with the thread, but I did the CE pre-order at a GS store, but if I change my mind I'll drop down to the SE. I entered the pre-order code and all. I became concerned there might be an issue if I do the Early Access, though. Since there wasn't a clear answer on the FAQ at swtor.com (that has evolved heavily over the past 36 hours!), I used the contact form. Within minutes, I received a confirmation of receipt and minutes later, reassurement that there will be no issue at all. Even better was the sense of humor:

I know that people were having issues earlier, so I wanted to share my experience. I apologize if this was already mentioned, I just can't bring myself to thoroughly read the last 1,000 posts.

Also, if Bioware/EA shows this kind of support, it makes me feel even better about this game.

Oh, and on a happier note, the new client just put the game officially into Beta :D. Or says the new leaker q&a.

I guess they feel most of the major kinks got wrung out, and it's time to mold the game from here.

So, this Order Unsubmitted thing that keeps popping up in the order history of my Origin client, is that something I should worry about? I've got three right now, one of which popped up in the past couple minutes. SWTOR is still listed under My Games.

I ordered the game through the actual website, and when I go there I can see my order confirmation just fine.

I have 7. I think it'll stop when my payment confirmation goes through.

Thank you james ohlen. AC respec is just to fix a mistake, not to switch whenever the fuck.

bullet dodged.

So it's not a la Wow where can you switch spec whenever you want?

Why would they not implement something like that?

Nope, too late, game ruined. This and the pay-to-win (
beauty contests
) store negate everything.

Not to mention the mouse droid. How overpowered is that thing? Geez Bioware, just hand these people a win button why don't ya.

You can respec inside your class (talent tree), but you can't switch your advanced class.

Um, your AC has specs within itself. You can fully respec within that. Like has been said, these are actual classes with multiple talent trees within them.

Example; Bounty Hunter Merc. You can be a titan of DPS, or a fully spec'd healer. Those 2 talent trees are within just that advanced class. And you can respec in that.

They need Rift spec switching. So you can swap when you want to have fun in random instances.

Look at it this way.

Your Class choice is basically picking your Story. Within each Story, there are two "classes" you can play - these are the Advanced Classes. Each Advanced Class has unique 2 talent trees (ala WoW) + 1 shared talent tree - these determine what role you will play.

Eww. It was a nice experiment but with all the cross-class combos it's impossible to balance. Look at the game from launch to now. A PVP disaster.

So far, no one has bothered to cry about that yet. Seems everyone can DPS well enough, even in a healer role.

I'm talking about just saving different specs to a bar to switch at ease. That's all.

Thank god. I hope that stays true up to the raiding/endgame scene.

Sounds kind like what Age of Conan was originally suppose to be.

How does your Light and Dark side points affect your combat and can you give some examples of this?

I can't give you examples. However, something we talked about all along is that as you progress very far down the light side path or very far down the Dark side path, you're actually going to unlock some abilities that are only available to that side of the Force.

I'm scurrred.... So instead of picking alignment based on personality/look of gear we will now have an optimal alignment due to abilities. *sadface*

So according to that, even though I cancelled my digital deluxe my early access code is still connected to my swtor.com account. But I have the C.E pre-ordered from amazon so I am still good?

I really doubt it'll be that different. Light Side gives you a self-heal that heals 20% more but is a HoT, Dark Side is a self-heal that heals instantly but 20% less or something like that.

Now that probably won't be true, just because of the hardcore nature of people. Although, they may turn a blind eye to their healer bounty hunter shooting a few missiles at a dude because the damage is pretty ok.

To be honest, who knows how things will settle. It's rare that a fully spec'd healer can still shoot missiles from his back & kill shit.

Discipline Priests in WoW heal through dealing damage, just like Bear Shamans in Age of Conan. It can work, it just needs to be balanced perfectly.

I'm just annoyed by having all these interesting DPS talents in World of Warcraft and not being able to actually take them, because I need to minmax my healing ability for raids.

If I can throw out meaningful damage during downperiods of healing, this will be my new favorite game for like... forever. >_>

I don't think any class in this game does anything like that, though it would be cool if say the sorcerer did. It's more like "Don't need to heal right this minute... missile barrage! pew pew!".

edit: though i'm thinking about bounty hunter heat, and your party members may get annoyed if you're not watching your heat for emergency heals, because you're pew-pewing too much.

edit2: and on your damage abilities, you have all your shit from level 10 & below, i'm talking wrist rockets, rail shot, lasso, rocket uppercut. and when you become a merc, you get skills automatically like dual pistols, and missiles (unless thats from the dps talent tree, not sure).

But ya, you get tons of dps shit off the bat that are free, even if you don't spec into dps.

Definitely thinking Jedi Consular myself. They look closest to the Druid class in World of Warcraft, and jack of all trades like that are generally what I like to play.

So basically the early access code applies to all versions (standard, digital deluxe, c.e) because all it grants is earlier access based on when you activated it on swtor.com and the yellow saber crystal.

The in-game exclusive items of the digital deluxe and C.E you get once you have the game on launch day or whenever they ship you the game.

Apparently, Bioware won't even confirm if people outside US and Europe can even play because the game has been region locked. That's fucking bullshit. I was working on the OT for this too but if I can't even fucking play the game, should I even bother?

here's a funny thing. I saw a leaked pvp video the other day, and although not the same class (its a mirror) an assassin spec (it had the double bladed saber, it was purple btw). This person is supposed to be melee, but this person kept using their force lighting moves to do damage & keep at a distance. From what I know, this is not their most efficient damage moves, but it's safe, and if you have say, a juggernaut buddy getting someones attention, you can toss some force lightning powers out. You should watch that video (betacake) if you haven't.

My favorite part of the video is watching this bounty hunter powertech (the "tank" class), take on 2 jedi. The BH uses an aoe carbonite freeze on em and wrecks shit.

It's a shame, but the launch will be staggered. I am damn sure everyone else will get their own preorder sessions & launch dates, just not at the same time as US/EU.

The servers are not locked, so you can buy a US/EU retail box, then play on a US/EU server. The only thing locked is buying digital copies.
