I really liked the Original until towards the end, but I much more enjoyed Brotherhood all the way through, when i went back to watch the original, I no longer could/cared to.

Regular FMA was made in a time where HD anime didn't even exist. Honestly, upscaled DVD or upscaled Blu Ray for a show that old would barely even make a difference.

Save it as a .png and be sure it's 100 pixels wide x 120 high. Also use the magic wand and hit delete in a program that supports it.

You should. Watching the original first is mainly a good idea, if just because the part that covers the same content is handled way better in the original.
I watched FMA on youtube back when it was uploaded by Funimation lol.

The original things in the first one was really interesting. I need to finish it one day.
You should, the original is fine but Brotherhood will skew that, there were a bunch of things that were a little weird in the original fairly early on that I preferred in Brotherhood.
