I did this once when a co worker told me she wanted to be bus buddies (We worked at a casino which was about 50 minutes away from town and they wouldn't let workers drive) so I stupidly put on headphones as soon as we sit and she never spoke to me again.

It's funny, because the context for it was that those two girls decided to hog my friend's bed, and for whatever reason he felt it would be super awkward sitting next to them there. So I said I would do it and not have it be weird at all, and well, that was that.
