There are crafting quests from the task boards in towns. Unlike levequests in FFXIV, you are only given part of the materials in TERA (and the recipe), so you still have to spend some cash (chump change to a level 50+ character) to buy some components. These components cannot be farmed or crafted, gotta buy them from NPC.
Those are BAMs. Generally you always have to take on BAMs in a group, unless you're a pretty skilled player and your equipment/class are up to the task. Any mission that has a little blue person-type icon means party mission/increased difficulty. Try not to skip them since it's fun taking them on in a group! There's always a few BAM missions in each area. I always save them until I'm done with all the normal quests, and then party up.
But yeah, I dont have a group to play with, so there really is no way to kill them I guess. I will try and continue with the story quests then. And how do you whisper to someone? I dont even remember how it was used in GW2... Is it /whisper Serena or something? And who is Serena btw? Is she/he on GAF? Im loving this game btw. I still dont have a clue how to upgrade weapons, create equipments or modify or whatever that system is called though. I will learn as I progress I guess.
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last posted something here. My skills are a bit rusty these days but you are in good hands with Synergy As always, take it with a pinch of salt.
BHS had a Facebook event back in December where people could apply for a special Federation (or Alliance, unsure about the official name yet though the recent video said Alliance) update community gathering with the devs. The event was held just yesterday and as the devs, press and fans gathered all sorts of interesting informations were discussed. Let me share some of that information with you.
Tera's Federation aka Alliance refers to a coalition of guilds. The update will bring players various events, new conflicts, epic sieges, consuls, new monsters, the already infamous invisibility potion and some new item bonuses.
Bluehole Studio's goal was simple, to enrich and enhance community interaction within the game.
Some details about the update
Join the Federation
To enjoy the contents of this update you'll have to be in a guild. Joining a Federation costs the guild 100 gold, even after paying you can still switch to another federation, talk to the designated NPC in the Federation HQ.
Federation Zones
(..now this part is tricky and am a bit unsure about it)
Warzones are independent of the current continents, they are a seperate instance if you will. You can get to these warzones by going through the special Federation Gates.
There are a total of 3 Federation continents per server, you can reach them through the mentioned gates. The continents and regions as per the Vanarch system will not be affected by the outcome of the faction wars.
Federation Quests
Spend an hour a day and you'll receive superb rewards. Get Nocturnium Crystals and Dusts to create unique and various Nocturnium Enchants which could be useful for instances or just regular hunting.
Capture Nocturnium Extractors
There's a total of 300 Nocturnium pieces, 100 per each continent. Gathering the sources of the enemy faction will reward your's with points. Points can be used in variety of ways, for example the leader of the Federation, the Consul can spend them on invisibility potions that can help players infiltrate enemy grounds or buying invisibility revealing wards to shield zones from invaders.
Summon Monsters
You can hunt special monsters throughout the continents to get Nocturnium Crystals. Hunt the summoned monsters which were specially optimised for 20 man groups and grab Federation related items .
The Consul
Be the leader of the number 1 guild and get elected as the Consul of the continent. Gain power, fortune and fame. Use your powers to appoint subordinates. Being a Consul means you will have certain privileges but also means you will have obligations such as disclosure of the tax history.
Political Schemes
Divert the attention of the opposing faction and assassinate their Consul, kill their NPCs and gather their riches. Of course, attacking the enemy in their own territory has some risks...
Federation Boot Camp
Fight new monster here and grab the best accessories. The number of time you can enter depends on the ranking of your Federation but there will be a guaranteed minimum ammount.
Overall, being part of the Federation means:
- not too difficult quests
- the thrill of capturing extractors
- Natural PK with the enemy
- Nocturnium Enchants and infused monsters
- and a competition for good rankings
After this point the whole thing went the F2P and other misc conversations way. Nothing spectacular mentioned, there won't be a 5v5 BG for a while, they are working on some methods to reduce the lags during Nexus hours and so on...

On some quests, on the quests UI on the right aside of your screen, sometimes they show a blue person logo with a number 5 beside it, that means that particular quest is meant to be done with a party

No, they were for the guild housing which BHS has stated they aren't working on. The consul one is outside of the capital cities.

They are opening new servers for F2P. New players will probably go to those which eliminates the lowbie ganking problem.
Full Fraywind set with +6 or above is more than enough to make you formidable in PvP. A priest can pretty much go naked into BGs because of their ridiculous unbalanced PvP damage reduction as it is. Armor is just a luxury for them. I hate killing priests in BGs so much. As zerker the task to chasing and KDing the healer so the team can zerg him down often falls to me and it is the biggest bullshit on the planet trying to lock one down much less put the hurt on one.
I couldn't transfer when I was on the trial edition. When I bought the game, no issue.
It's going F2P towards the end of the February, yeah. The main thing is that if you buy it now, for twenty bucks you get eight characters per server and 288 slots to store items in the bank (which is shared among all your characters). Whereas when it goes F2P you're going to have two characters and 72 storage slots. I can guarantee you that with 72 you won't be able to store absolutely anything.Yeah, just checked, Im on Celestial Hills. t_t Dont even know why I didnt check the GAF guild before creating my character. Bleh. Im stupid. >_>
About the pay method... isnt the game going free to play, like, next month? Im not sure if it would be much valid in my case. :/ Well, maybe I will wait for it to turn free to play and keep leveling up my character, then when the time comes I guess this feature will be available for everyone? Or I just create a new character on the server you guys are playing.
This sure sounds tempting. And I am really enjoying the game. But the thing is... Will I still be able to pay twenty bucks for all this after the game goes free to play? I say this because I have the tendency of getting bored of MMOs pretty quickly. :/ So I am afraid to pay now and don't really make use of it, you know? But interestingly enough I have the feeling that TERA might be just different having just stopped playing Guild Wars 2 after getting bored. This game just fits my interests much more. So I might pay this, but I would probably wait to see if my interest doesn't fade with time. And as you said I am aware of the level cap, so I will maybe create another character in the meantime. Thanks for the help though.
