But the PS4 outputs in 1080P (16:9). If there was no zooming in then there would be black bars on the side as well
I tried playing FC4 right after playing The Order last night, as I got that free co-op demo.
- FC4 all of a sudden looks like everything is made out of cardboard cutouts.
- It also looks like it runs at much worse framerate than Order, despite being solid 30. The quality of motion blur in Order makes it feel, far, far smoother than a typical 30FPS game, it's actually incredible.
- The quality of antialiasing in FC4 is still very good, and impresses even playing it right after Order.
I have to say Order really is a game changer visually, as it makes FC4, a game generally regarded to have some of the better visuals around, feel woefully dated.
But is it a TV with 1920x800 resolution? If not, the picture needs to be zoomed and you won't get 1:1 pixel mapping.
I would say yes, but you dont really have a chance to find out as you cant use your weapon whenever you want, only in combat scenarios, where destructible material is rare. How much interactive are the environments? In example, are the mayority of the objects given at least a basic physics behavior when applying forces to them either via shooting or touching them. And destructability, not talking about making holes in walls, but for example objects like chairs, furniture, boxes get damaged?
Yeah, they are cheating a bit with the chapters. The halfway point is about when you reach chapter 6.Holy shit. Just went from Chapter 11 to Chapter 15 in about half an hour. That's quite sad.
spoilers mid-game

the graphics on this scene is beyond everything.
I must admit that during the first shooting section of the game I noticed that it intentionally makes the foreground/background blurry (think smart phone focus) depending on where you are aiming. That made the section seem soft but I didn't notice it during chapter 3 combat so idkStarted playing it now - impulse purchase...
I don't like how soft the image is, I can only play this in short bursts without my eyes straining as a result. Way too much processing/AA.
Hard is the highest difficulty and its still pretty easy I would say.Are people playing on Hard?
Is there any kind of challenge? Is hard the highest difficulty?
Im not expecting it to be impossible but it might be fun if it had the kind of difficulty and pace of Gears of War on higher difficulties or Uncharted on hard.
What in the fuck are you talking about ? It's a 21:9 screen
Yeah, they are cheating a bit with the chapters. The halfway point is about when you reach chapter 6.
Yeah, to make some chapters just one cutscene is incredibly odd. Doesnt really seem like chapters to me and it definitely feels like they ran out of budget and had to cut a lot of gameplay out.If I remember rightly one chapterthen you walk a bit andyou start in a mine/tunneland you are in a different chapter.move a big bit of wood
Revolver is definitely the best handgun ive come across. Very satisfying to shoot. BLAM!My favorite guns: Revolver and Carbine. Gotta love 1 shotting some dude.
The hospital section is just oozing with atmosphere. Absolutely amazing.
Great writeup man, extremely detailed. I agree with you on the prologue almost 100%, agree with some other later points too but somehow I'm still having fun.
A shame you were disappointed though
can you just replay chapters for the collectibles?
I'm there right now. So fucking good
Yes. But it doesn't say what you got in what chapter so just use a guide and just follow it from start.
Hey Viveks, just wanted to chime in that your review was well written. Thanks for taking the time for it. Bummer you didn't like the game but I do understand. I may not have time to finish until tomorrow but I'll write up mine then. On chapter 11 now.
I amThanks. I'm guessing u have enjoyed it so far?
Unlike some others here i don't think there is good game under it all .
RAD needs to complete change how they make the order 2 , even the shooting that is okay becomes boring because of there level design.
The game has way to many flaws and i don't know if they can fix them .
Don't think it worth more than 5 out of 10 and can see why reviews were so hard on it .
Is the framerate supposed to drop to literally 5 FPS during the artillery section? Weird given the top notch performance elsewhere.
If you go into expecting a Gears/Uncharted type game you're going to be disappointed. After going into it knowing it would be essentially an interactive movie with gameplay sections, I enjoyed it alot more. I've never felt more immersed and engaged with this than I have with anything I've ever played. I've still got a long ways to go before I beat it though so that could change. It's certainly not for everyone though.
But the PS4 outputs at 1080p. WIthout zooming in you would end up with a black frame around the picture, unless you stretch it. It's no different than watching non-anamorphic 16:9 content on a 16:9 TV, like this
Viveks. You tryin to get on Amirox's list or something?
Ah ok. Still got quite a ways to go then
I can't be immerse when there are button prompts on screen a lot of the time for everything.
Or when the game throw badly design levels at you over and over .
When you can stealth kill in one section but all of a sudden can't when they feel like it .
I knew what to expect but i did not think the other parts of the game would be so bad .
If you go into expecting a Gears/Uncharted type game you're going to be disappointed. .
None of that matters if the native TV res is 1920x800. If it is (and it should hopefully be), then the game would be scaled down by default, and then when you zoom it in, it would be natively mapped with 1:1 pixels and black bars cropped. Same would go with watching any 2.4:1 bluray movie, as they too are encoded with black bars. But the PS4 outputs at 1080p. It's very much a mix of a shooter and something like Beyond/Heavy Rain. In about equal amounts so far early in the game. I that something you expect/think you'll like, I don't think you can be disappointed with this game. So, if you go in expecting a game the way Sony has marketed this the entire way through (include commercials playing in GameStop right now), you'll be disappointed?
This game is fucked when casual customers realize that didn't get a shooter, they got Beyond: Two Souls instead.
I would call it gameplay. Whether or not its quality gameplay is debatable. On chapter 3. Visually it is amazing but it just lacks gameplay for me. If it isn't a cutscene, it is moving the character around in between cutscenes. Is that classed as gameplay?
