Non Specific Action Figure is viral?
For those who are mainly interested in multi-platform games with more traditional means of control, we will also offer the Wii U Pro Controller as a separate peripheral, which is lighter and maybe more attractive for longer, more intense forms of gaming
NO EXCUSE NOW, THIRD-PARTIES!
One thing I noticed in the video that I haven't seen discussed is the fact that the system asked the hipster gamer what his mood was at one point. I've never seen an intrusive system like this pretty much asking you for a status update, but I think it may be a very good thing.
Having the system actively ask you questions like that will definitely get more people using the social networking part of the system and get them to do it more often. Seeing as how user interaction is the backbone of social networking, I think this could really help the Nintendo Network take off.

Yep! Not too shabby! Tuesday's should be pretty easy, too. Lots of sizzle reels, demos, etc.

That actually gives me an idea, what if they use it like the SuperGuide in Mario.
"You've Died 8 Times, do you want to See some suggestions for this stage?"
but but the A + B buttons are reversed! So it the X + Y!! No way! this is so complex!
Can't forget the different location of the right thumbstick. I'm pretty sure a developer will throw that excuse out there eventually.
Looking at the Mario footage. They have a ton of depth layers to the background. WOuld probably look awesome on a 3D TV
Instead of the Ow Meh Gurd Nintendo copy Microsoft threads we should have gottenon with this exact headline.NO EXCUSE NOW, THIRD-PARTIES!
bgassassin,
Did you see anything in today's Nintendo Direct that would speak to the system's performance? Either positive or negative?
I'm not mad at the option, and the classic pro is nice and all...but I just don't understand the point of it. The Gamepad literally does both everything it can, and everything it can't. Why does a lesser version of a controller even need to exist that offers nothing over the standard unit that comes with the system? With the Wiimote I could understand to an extent, but not with the Gamepad. I doubt nintendo actually wanted to even make this thing.
This industry is fucked up sometimes.
uh what does this mean?

I agree, and it really doesn't change anything in my mind because you can't count on every consumer picking up a Pro.
Because for some reason people think a standard controller with a screen is not a standard controller.
That too.I think the point of the controller is more for multiplayer games than anything. I'm sure there will be games that require the use of the traditional analog/button combination that the GamePad provides that can't be replicated on the Wii Remote.
The Classic Pro allows you to have four inputs with everything you have with the GamePad, but at a much cheaper price than having to buy four GamePads and without having to worry about streaming to the screen.

I'm waiting to see Madden on it, and I guess if anyone else has any exclusives like Ubi (and how those look).I might actually get things done tomorrow!
It comes in every color you could possibly want, as long as you want black or white.Edit: Am I the only one disappointed that the console design didn't change all that much from last E3? Looks boring to me
Well, for one thing, the Wii U is only going to handle 2 gamepads at most. If developers want to make a 4 player game that requires the same face buttons as the gamepad, they are out of luck.
Another thing, some games just aren't going to use or require the touch screen for anything meaningful, especially VC games such as GC titles. Why use it when you don't need all that bulk if you're going to play on the TV? It does look pretty comfortable after all.
It's just a nice optional controller. Nothing to get bent out of shape about.
I don't even think it's optional.
If you want to play local muliplayer, you're going to need one of these things.
dudes what time should I be back here for E3?
I don't really know what is coming on Monday I had no countdowns
Optional. Not everyone does that these days. I only have 2 xbox controllers for example.

I only have one 360 controller and have only had one since 2008.
It's just Nintendo saying: "Look, we know some of you lazy bastard don't want to use the touchscreen at all, so here's a traditional controller. But now you have no excuse not to bring your future PS3 and Xbox 360 games on our console." *
* The actual discussion might have been completely different.

I'll probably have one just because.
I have 2 360 controllers and no 360.
I use em on my PC.
MS Conference 12:30 EST.
I have this insane theory that Nintendo might use the 360/PS3 ports period to soft-launch an updated dual-analog controller. In what qualifies as a radical move in Nintendo's scary opposite land, it'd offer analogous feature parity with anything Microsoft and Sony are likely to present--click analogs, triggers, bog-standard button layout, rumble, whatever motion sensors and gyros are present, etc.
Remember that this product strategy is claimed not to solely focus on differentiation. That exists in the padlet, but Nintendo's opportunity to establish a dynamic range of control options shouldn't be ignored. If they built the system right they shouldn't be obligated to push the padlet with as heavy a hand as they applied to the Wii remote. Even with the Wii, they produced two versions of the Classic Controller.
Disparity on the dual-analog controls may well end up being more significant to the third party market than hardware disparity. It's the common denominator across consoles, whatever else goes on with pointing, motion and camera controls.
I continue to be of the opinion that between the touchscreen and the IR remote, Nintendo has established more than enough UI differentiation. The dual analog features of the padlet[/B] and especially any independent dual analog controllers should be as close to competing devices as possible.
Multiple controller options is the biggest source of my personal enthusiasm for Wii U as a system. Packing in an M+ remote makes M+ the new baseline for pointer/gesture control, the padlet is for touch gaming, asymmetric viewpoints, and extra input parallelism, and hopefully we'll get a sweet new iteration of a dual-analog pad as well. Any and every type of gameplay is possible with all these interfaces to choose from.
I'd be surprised to see the feature happen on CC and not happen on the padlet.
On the other hand, the presence of clicky sticks on the padlet would all but confirm a new iteration of the Classic Controller.
I disagree - the Wii-Remote/Nunchuk are the official secondary controllers. The Pro controller is gonna be an optional accessory, just like the Classic Controller is for the Wii.I know what you mean. It was about a year before I had to buy another Xbox controller.
Just saying that if you do want multiplayer, you're most likely going to have to buy a pro controller. It's not an accessory. It's the official secondary controller for the Wii U.
Wait, MS's conference is tomorrow?
The Classic Pro controller makes way more sense for SSB multiplayer anyways.
