Toonami |Jan14| See you, Space Cowboy. Hello, Space Dandy

I gave up on KLK after 4 or 5 episodes. It seemed pretty formulaic and the fanservice, while tongue in cheek, was a turn off for me. I'll probably go through and watch the whole thing in a year or so if toonami doesn't get it.

Funny you say Kill la Kill is formulaic considering how much it has subverted expectations. Still, going through it in chunks or all at once seems to be the best way to watch since you can easily skim over some of the prolonged parts like the NE.

Still haven't gotten around to watching any of that though I hear good things about it, even if being put off by the fan service. I definitely want to give it a try.

I guess you missed the portion of my post where I said I only watched 4 or 5 episodes, which most definitely followed a set formula.

It's like Gurren Lagann, every 6-8 episodes the plot goes in a completely new direction

I'll take your word for it, the whole 'fight a new member of the student council every week' thing got old and predictable. I will say that the battles themselves were flashy and well animated from what I remember, I haven't followed the show since October.

I abandoned the OT pretty quickly, is it still just a giant overblown debate about fanservice? I personally thought it was a turn off but didn't feel the need to shit up that thread every week voicing my displeasure.

Anime and manga have a big problem; only perverts spend money on DVDs and merch outside of a couple of Disney like properties (Though One Piece, the biggest of those, still has it's fanservice like Dragon Ball did before it) They solved this problem by making everything lewder and lewder.

Haha. It is him. This is so weird. Kirk Thornton as a cheesy villain in an old Jackie Chan movie.

He'll always be Blackjack and Don Patch to me, lol. This is generally how I refer to him whenever his voice pops up in random things. And Xiao Dun in Dynasty Warriors.

Which Jackie Chan movie is it? It's funny how many anime english VA's pop up in random martial arts film dubs... I'm quite sure I heard a few while watching "The Heroic Trio", though it's been a while.

Oh yeah. He was Don Patch. Awesome. And the movie was Twin Dragons.

The GTO kind of stuff.

According to some people connected to the show, Thugnificent's voice actor and the guy who makes the music for the show, the premiere has been moved back to April. No official statement yet though.

Ahhh, cool. I felt like I used to see that on TV ALL THE TIME, ha. I don't think I've fully trusted a Jackie Chan Film since I watched "The Accidental Spy"... Expected: Comedy, Received: FEELS.

Little Big Planet Solider was pretty different, too. And still with the feels.

Schadenfruede is probably banging his head against the monitor screaming 'WHYYYY!?'

Tomorrow's pre-watch block will start at 9:00pm EST. We will watch... stuff.

Cool! Thanks for hosting it this week.

Seeing Eva 3.0 in three hours. Hope I end up liking it more than 2.22 now that I'm done with the series

You just love to watch things without us LB, first One Piece and now this? Come on brah.

KLK is actually surprising in how well-animated it feels despite not actually having a lot of animation to speak of. If you watch it critically you'll notice the thing is full of stills and only slightly moving images.

Well, it is more notable in some episodes then in others.

This Shikamaru arc in Shippuden is still very good. One of the best Naruto arcs for sure. Too bad there's like 2 years before Toonami gets to it.

Nah it'll be a good watch. Seems a bunch of people never saw it in here and while I make fun of it for having a ton of filler some of it is downright hilarious.

Top 5 Naruto Arcs

1. Chunin Exams/Orochimaru invasion
2. Sause Retrieval
3.
Immortals
4. Search for Tsunade
5.
Invasion of pain

Number 5 would have been higher had it not been for how it ended

I actually rewatched it. It is no doubt my favorite arc in all of Naruto. Episode 85 might be my favorite episode.

The
Pain
arc has maybe the best cliffhanger (episode) in the series (well, what I've watched). And then it went out in a way that I never watched past because I just stopped caring.

Why is Kiba's only noticeable moment in Shippuden getting owned by Sakura?

Looking at that list, the
Immortals
arc might be my favorite. Chunin Exams and Sause Retrieval had incredibly high moments, but there were points where it dragged a bit. This arc in Shippuden is incredibly well paced , which is surprising for Shippuden since everything before this has had some pretty bad pacing. It's very well animated and it pretty much solidified Shikamaru as my favorite character.

I am in complete agreement.

Pacing issues in the anime didn't impact me when I read the manga, naruto is legit the only anime adaptation for almost its entire run has worse pacing then it's manga.
