Man, I'm just waiting for the day someone links to a shemale porn site or some shit like that.

I bet you are. The one thing I really liked in the first uncharted was the atmosphere. I think this was due to the game taking place in one place so it had the opportunity to build up a continuous and rising tension. UC2 is my favourite of the bunch but even it didn't quite have the atmosphere I liked in UC:drakes fortune. When I hear that UC4 will be a globe trotting adventure I'm excited about all the different kinds of gorgeous environments we'll see, but I still kind of miss the feeling you only get when the game takes place in one environment.

God I hope so, their was only one character on screen (Drake)...
How does this make any sense? Would they be using a magical engine that swaps assets based on number of characters on screen, or would they be deliberately designing the game to chug along at 10 fps in other situations?

If this is real time, and they are really running at 60 fps in real time (which is what they say, and I'm inclined to believe them), then this is the quality you would have throughout the game, regardless of characters on the screen.

What did you mean by your post? I'm still trying (and failing) to make any sense of it.

Is it just salt, or is there some actual logic in there?

What an Uncharted game makes technically much better than the competition are the animations and the set pieces like the docks, trains, falling houses and stuff.
I can't imagine how these things can be topped with Uncharted 4.

I don't know how to put this in technical terms but the worlds they create just seen lush and dense. To me that's how they're better than the competition.

And apparently they aren't using that many polys to draw him. So they should have no problem putting more characters on the screen or doing action sections with a lot of animation.

Unless you really think the whole game with be Nathan walking alone through a jungle and nothing else ;)

... For me, when I found out it was 1080P 60, on top of outclassing everything else out there visually, that was an "oh wow!" moment.

It really shows the stupendous amount of hardware power. Dat gap.

Well, at a certain point, more poligons don't really make for a more realistic looking character, but you can use other things to make it more convincing. (Shaders)

I'm pretty sure NaughtyDog is going to set a benchmark and they will show what Mark Cerny was all about.

Poligon?

It is great Naughty Dog are aiming for 60 FPS from here on out! Real time cut scenes + 60 FPS gameplay = awesome

^_^

The ability to blend cutscenes and gameplay by going all real time will add to immersion quite a bit. It's also probably a necessity since video files are huge. It will save them a lot of disk space.

60fps is just icing on the cake.

Yup..

One of my biggest hopes this gen is that we move away from the "cut to black" that has plagued us for so long.

Cutscenes should be seamless.

Same with Elder Scrolls and Fallout 4. Indoor and outdoor should be one. Sounds and light should pass through windows and doors freely.

Thats what this gen needs to be about, and with this much memory to play with, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Great video that puts a lot into perspective.

I also agree with him that ND's animation is going to be incredible this gen now that they have more RAM to work with. I look forward to seeing that in particular, especially at 60fps.

I remember reading that the sheer speed of GDDR5 makes it the equivalent to multiples of DDR3 ram.

I remember posters saying that (before the final specs were announced) 4GB GDDR5 would still outclass 8GB DDR3.

So yeah, will be fun to see the final product.

Another great thing about real time cutscenes is that it puts an incentive to make the game as interactive as possible since it already needs to be rendered on the fly. The Order is doing some really cool stuff like that. Often times there are things you can manipulate and look at during the cutscene. I bet ND comes up with some cool stuff as well.

Joke post?
So they should downgrade the graphics every time another character enters the frame?
What's so impressive here is that this graphical quality will have to be maintained when planes are crashing, cruise ships are capsizing, big ass explosions are happening, etc.
They can't take advantage of the fact it's only one character, if then they can't maintain that standard in every scene.

Graphically speaking, this trailer doesn't look as impressive as the stuff we have seen from The Order 1886. But, both games should shape up nicely by next year :D

You serious? I think The Order is gorgeous but this looks AT THE VERY LEAST on par and is running at a higher resolution at double the framerate.

UC4 trailer is double the framerate, higher-res and looks at least as good.

That said, I feel like the final game, with full environments and AI and physics and effects and whatnot, will not look this good. Or if it does it won't be 60fps. Which will make me mad.

I don't know, The Order's gameplay graphics look amazing and their facial models are some of the best I've seen in a game but the Uncharted teaser is to a noticibly higher degree. I doubt Uncharted will look exactly like this during gameplay probably what the cutscenes will look like.

Yeah sorry Sniper. The Order is incredible but this is just more impressive. Course it is a cutscene so we will have to wait to judge gameplay against gameplay but it just seems firmly ahead of everything else.

What are the odds of a game like this having dynamic lighting? Has it being done on a high profile linear TPS before?

I can't imagine how good this game would look with a lighting system like DC's.

I don't understand the digs at Phil4000?

I don't understand how 'todays games' work - but I'm pretty sure in the old days of 3D the models were indeed 'swapped out' for lower quality the further the image was from the 'screen' so why not here? Also (please correct me if I'm wrong) but they haven't explictly said 'in game assets' have they?

I don't know, I want to believe - I love ND and don't dought this will be awesome beyond awesome, but man that's some crazy detail :|

I need to watch that vid explaining why it's real-time when I get home!

Games certainly have characters display with varying levels of detail depending on their proximity to the 'camera', however, his point was exact opposite of that. That because it's close, the rest of the game looks better than it will, which is illogical.

I actually agree with you and I am sure it will not be a popular opinion. While UC4 looks absolutely amazing it still looks like a game to me. The Order looks more real..... not sure exactly what it is and I have been trying to figure it out. I think UC4 is more impressive technically because of what it is actually doing at 1080p and 60fps.

In the looks department.

they both look great

You also picked one of the better screens of the order and the absolute worst screen I have seen of the UC4 reveal....

Seriously? It's a colossal leap beyond The Order. In fact, it's a colossal leap beyond anything.

You serious? I think The Order is gorgeous but this looks AT THE VERY LEAST on par and is running at a higher resolution at double the framerate.

Yeah, this is a big step up from the order. Lighting, modelling, texturing, if it looked like that at 30 fps I would have been a bit sceptical. This at 60 fps is awesome.

The Order was king, but Uncharted 4 completly decimates it.

60fps and 1080p already set U4 on another level.

Both games have probably the best subsurface scattering i have ever seen. Uncharted 4 has dynamic foliage that interacts with the wind and Drake, while The Order 1886 has dynamic cloth. I really liked the graphics in the order gameplay video. The lighting there was just phenomenal

but I guess 1080p @ 60 FPS is another level

I hope ND share their adaptive tessellation tech with all other studios, esp. for ones who are developing for PS4 exclusively.

What I find really amazing looking UC1-3 and TLoU is how "rounded" the characters look despite not being bolstered with tessellation. In games like Mass Effect, Deus Ex and a myriad of others, you could see the characters having quite pronounced edges (I'll never forget Lightning's french fry fingers). ND really knows how to effectively use their poly budget through great efficient art and prioritization.

You can't be serious man, i agree that The Order was the best looking linear (i separate between linear and open world, not really a fair comparison, genres are too different for direct comparison) up until Uncharted, but this one is so out of The Order's league in about any way possible + it's running at 60! I'd say The Order looks like a low-level CGI while this looks like a medium-level one, and that's a huge difference.

That's why I'm still skeptical about whatever it is real time or a good indication for game play visuals, it's just unbelievable.

Yeah, I don't see it. The Order looks fantastic, probably the most impressive gameplay visuals I have seen. But comparing the real time cutscenes, Uncharted looks more impressive to me, even noticibly more so. Especially that close up just looks better than just about anything.

Uncharted 4 looks infinitely more appealing to me. The Order has this blurry look that I don't particularly enjoy. It looks amazing, though.

The Order looks insane, think I've watched the E3 trailer a dozen times now but Uncharted is just on another level. The idea that I'm going to control a game that looks like that next year is still mind blowing.

There's one element that The Order cheerleaders here seem to be missing when saying UC4 is the less impressive of the two.

UC4 ANIMATION IS UNEQUIVOCALLY SUPERIOR.

My one lingering gripe with The Order so far is that all the characters seem to have paralyzed facial muscles. It's a little unsettling in some scenes. Compare that to the UC4 teaser where extreme close-ups of Drake's face portray near photo realistic expressions. That's why Naughty Dog is simply in another class. That's what puts them out in front, honestly.

I don't think there's anything subjective about this point. I think it is an indisputable fact.
