What will be February's biggest flop?

Kirby.

It's premise is flawed and needs eyes constantly on the gamepad and not the screen. It is a game you play only with the gamepad.
 
I forgot Kirby was this month, and that was *with* the ad appearing out of nowhere on my Gamepad the other day.

Oh damn, it's only $40? BB GCU, here I come!

Agreed with others on Evolve.

Thats incorrect, you pay one price digitally and get the whole game over four weeks. Or you just buy the retail version in March and get everything in one go.

They will no doubt sell skins and gun packs for raid mode seperatly like the first one though. In anycase i'm getting it as i loved the 1st one and this one has local co-op.

Of course everyone who doesn't get a boner at the thought of teslasploding someone's head is wisely waiting for reviews, thus preorder numbers no longer strongly predict total sales volume.

The main thing I'm predicting is that it will be short and thus I can rent it from the brick and mortar videogame rental store that my town still has for some reason in TYOOL 2015.

I'm also thinking DOA5 is going to suck commercially.
 
I know critically Evolve has been doing pretty well, but due to the nature of their DLC choices I'm hoping folks stop promoting it. As someone has pointed out it has fallen a bit from amazon in such a short time, so it could be.
 
Lowest Sales: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

- Kirby games never really have big sales. This one is not only on WiiU, but has less appeal to an extent

Most Dissapointing Sales: Evolve

- This game is supposed to be huge, which it will be, but I don't think it will live up to full expectations. It will still do very well sales-wise. Just don't expect DLC sales.

Worst Critical Reception: Revelations 2 Episode 1 or whatever it is

- Resident Evil hasn't exactly been on the best run as of late. Add in an episodic format which may not work well with the genre, the game being across multiple platforms and negative press regarding microtransactions in the side mode, and you get lukewarm reception.


Wild Card: The Order: 1886

- The last of the big games of the month. The Order is a game that I think will be very divisive among consumers and critics alike. On one hand it looks gorgeous and very cinematic, but on the other, the gameplay doesn't look too spectacular, we are unsure of the quality of the story, and many gamers may not particularly enjor the narrative-driven, linear format of the game. Questions regarding the length of the game, and it's replay ability have also been created. The game may be excellent, but I could see it being the biggest flop in any of the categories if the quality is lacking, and it doesn't sell.
 
Kirby has legs, it'll do fine for the Wii U. Canvas Curse didn't exactly light the charts on fire either so I'm sure their expectations are in check for this style of Kirby.
 
I would guess Evolve. Most people I know were put off by the DLC fiasco. The people that I know who got it aren't terrible thrilled with it, most of them went back to Dying Light already.

That's why I was thinking it might flop, too. I'm hearing like 5 hours with most of the trophies, and while I personally think that could be worth $60 for a fun campaign, I bet most people won't. Then again it already has good pre-orders numbers supposedly. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out.

I'm not even sure if Canvas Curse breeched a million sale. It's going to be a real shame to see Rainbow Curse sell as bad as it will.
I'd show my support, by us Euro folk are still stuck with "Second half of 2015"
 
Hopefully Nintendo doesn't send retailers to man copies of Kirby's Rainbow curse, they are selling it as a budget title so it will likely be a steady seller for the rest of the year but I can't see it flying off the shelves at launch. As long as they don't ship to many copies that retailers are forced to dump them, it should be fine.

I think Evolve is going to end up the big flop for games aimed at the the standard gamer target audience.

You have to look at the game in the public light, they won't give a rat's ass about any fiasco. Look at all the Pre Order craziness with Watchdogs and how that barely affected sales.

Triple Deluxe sold 1.7 million according to Nintendo though. And despite bombing in Japan, didn't Captain Toad sell 250k back in NPD December, although I guess you could chalk that up to holiday sales.

Well I think it will have its hardcore fans, but more casual gamers may tire of it quickly. At least that happened with my friends and Left 4 Dead. I don't want it to fail though. Don't think I'd enjoy it much, but the concept is kinda neat.
 
Sadly, I think it will be Kirby as far as sales go. Just not enough units out there. But it may live up to sales expectations based on the units in the wild?

I think it should review pretty well.

I don't know enough about RE: Revelations2 to make any sort of educated guess.

I seriously hope the Order doesn't flop because so many people are excited for it but the moronic PR doesn't give me much hope :/

Sales wise it'll probably be Monster Hunter 4.

Critically, it might be The Order simply because it will be great but the levels of hype will somehow make people think the game didn't live up to the unrealistic expectations.

Captain Toad's sales, I would say, were largely dependent on the holiday season, yes.
 
Evolve will underwhelm. Kirby won't set the world on fire either though it's budget probably ain't all that huge. The Order 1886, to the chagrin of many, will perform better than expected.
 
To everyone that keeps saying that the gameplay in The Order doesn't look good, what did you expect? Why is everyone putting the game on another level when it comes to 3rd person shooters? For better or worse, it doesn't look any different than a Gears or an Uncharted when it comes to the cover based shooting. So please specify what this game doesn't do gameplay-wise that its brethren like Gears/Uncharted, does do. In The Order, you get crazy guns. you hide behind things. Pop out and shoot enemies with said crazy guns. Rinse and repeat. Exactly the same things you did in every Gears game and Uncharted game. Isn't Gears regarded as the best 3rd person shooter of late?

It's kind of ridiculous the amount of hate The Order has been getting since its reveal.

Agreed, I also don't really see it getting a lot of traction I mean, it's a week until release and it feels like Nintendo isn't doing much to push it other than a commercial. They seem really wrapped up in new 3DS and Majora's Mask 3D right now.

Well they did have my gamepad turn on to tell me about it the other day, but no, there has been very little marketing or coverage in general.

Sales-wise: Evolve? I dunno, some people are saying Kirby, but I feel like Nintendo's expectations for that will be modest in comparison to 2K's for Evolve.
