I live in a small terrace house in suburbian London, and I can't use my Wii U gamepad in my upstairs bedroom. I'm at the front of the house, and the Wii U is set up in my downstairs living room at the back of the house. I'd say diagonally my bedroom is about 5 metres away from the Wii U? Must be the walls and the floorboards getting in the way. I'll do a proper walkthrough of my house with the gamepad tomorrow.

the is juuust a little peripheral missing now.

everythin else (Zombi U, Nintendoland, screen protector...oh and the Wii U Deluxe!) should arrive tomorrow. fucking finally!

Quick question, when does the plaza thing fill up with Miis who aren't from Nintendo?

For me I've noticed the first wave represents the popularity of the game and then a second wave comes in to represent other Miis and their messages. The time between was a couple minutes or less.

Bought my WiiU last night at Australian midnight launch, currently pissed off about network connectivity issues with it. The internet test reports that it can connect (gets a tick for both network and internet) but I keep getting Error Code 105-4011 when I attempt to update, and obviously the online apps don't work until I update so I can't test them to see if it's a system wide problem or just an update-server problem.

I tried manually setting my IP to a free one in my home network's range (10.0.0.21), but the WiiU INSISTS that "your IP address is wrong". Well fuck you too, buddy. Could the fact that the router is not using 192.0.0.X range be causing the WiiU to get confused? I don't want to change a home network setting to fix that until I'm sure because of potential problems with manually assigned IPs there might be on our network (got like 5 other people using it). The Nintendo website reports that the server is functioning as normal.

Went to GameStop on a whim and they had a deluxe bundle left so I snagged it for my kids Xmas gift. Through a disagreement with time warner, I've cancelled my internet out of principle. Will I need to do the day one update before I can play games on it? Or is the update on any particular game like SMBWU?

So...UKers. Anyone going to a GAME midnight opening?

What time do they usually open their doors? Its fucking below freezing outside.

The update is for internet applications. You can play SMBWU, ZombiU etc without the update. But you can't use web browser, youtube channel etc.

First is the fact that none are to be found in my town or anywhere near and second is I am hoping for one for Christmas, but it's unlikely. Reason it's unlikely is the cost is way above what my wife would spend as well as above what in-laws would spend(they biught us our wii so never know) and no stock even lessens the chance.

Target's around me have the Deluxe but they are holding them until Sunday. :\

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
On a train to collect my Wii Puu.

Yes to the Puddle community. But you can change the region of the communities. Just choose Europe and Oceania at the top next to Communities. There is no special demo area. Yes, you can choose Wii U demos at the bottom in the eShop, but it will first show you the full priced FIFA 13 game. You have to select view details or whatever it is in English and then you get the "download the demo" button.

Edit: Maybe nothing new, but when you access the eShop from within a game, it will take you to the respective eShop page of said game.

I think that when you have played a certain amount of attractions, Monita will tell you that there are Miis from people all over the world.

nice learned something new! Looks like the counts are all lower new posts but NintendoLand seems to be merged with US unless you guys have been NintendoLand posting like crazy it is the only on that matches US numbers of user posts

I'm thoroughly expecting shittacular wireless performance in UK houses.

Seems to be the case that the Wii U was largely tested with Japanese and American style wood based housing.

Our houses are all concrete and shit.

I think I can help you with that, and the answer is yes, it does fares decently as long as it isn't between floors :(
I have it in my bedroom upstairs, and I can take it to the bathroom, both bedrooms next to mine and kitchen too (which is right below my bedroom), but other than that it has big problems reaching anything else in my floor below, the living room is a big NO for example, and that's just like 3 meters away. The moment I start walking down the staircase the signal start to get lost. :(

mine isn't doing one for the wii u, but the last one I went to was for the playstation 3 and they opened the doors 15 minutes before midnight to allow people to browse.

is the range of the gamepad the same as the range of your wireless network? I can get wireless through my house and seeing as the gamepad uses a similar method to communicate with the wii u, I thought the same might apply.

Cool thanks! I figured as much. I'll probably put my pride aside and crawl back to time warner and get my internet again because I want to play with miiverse.

As long as you're on the same floor, yeah it's very good, but once you take it down/up that's when it's not as good as my wireless network.

I can live with that. I would have liked to use it everywhere, but that was always an unrealistic expectation...at least until signal boosters are released. thanks for the feedback. I won't be as disappointed now that I know what the range is likely to be.

Yep. It seems that Nintendo Land is worldwide. If you select Japan, you can also see Nintendo Land, although the Wii U is not yet out there.

The way I currently have it set up is that the Wii U console is plugged into an outlet in my office, which is on the same floor as my living room about 25 feet and one wall away. Connection to the pad is terrible. If I move slightly the connection stutters or goes out until I stop moving the pad. My bedroom is in the room directly above the office and the signal is perfect up there.

gahhh. The guy in GAME told me when they'd open, but I couldn't remember if he said half ten or half eleven! Guess its the later one, which sucks as I have lots to trade in.

there is not even a nice manual to look at.... blech!....the worldmap is nice though.

edit:

i'm just gonna assume you a MH fan? we totally need to add each other for future monster slaying!

Of course! But I'm not sure that I'll even have Wii U this week. :/

it'll probably be half eleven or quarter to but likely the former. I wouldn't worry, they can't sell anything before midnight, so you have thirty minutes to sort out any trades you have unless lots of people come along with stuff to trade in.

good luck. I had a horrible time at the ps3 midnight launch. the group of people was just awful, maybe / hopefully you'll be more lucky.

Yeah that's just a repost of the official Nintendo page on the error code.

I did fix it in the end though, by changing my wireless setup a bit so that the modem was putting out wireless directly and I connected through that (instead of daisy chaining through a second wireless router). Now I've got two wireless connections in my home, both of which are the exact same network , but ehh... it works. We had it set up the old way because I had two modems with 4 ports each, but we needed 6 ethernet ports to reach every bedroom room in the house.

Wierd part is that my Wii and 3DS had no issues connecting on old setup, while the WiiU couldn't handle it. Sigh.

Anybody else finding that navigating the menus using the analogue stick keeps making it jump up & down unintentionally? In the browser it seems well calibrated so I'm just hoping it's a sensitivity issue in the menus rather than a joypad fault .
