Oh, I see. Capcom better have Monster Hunter on the eShop. That's one game I do not want a disc to play.

given the way these things usually go, that will probably be one of the only games never to come to the eShop, along with Dragon Quest X.

Thanks, but I dont own a PC so I have no idea what a "subnet mask" is.

its usually 255.255.255.0

try this:

wii u ip
192.168.1.80
subnet mask
255.255.255.0
gateway
192.168.2.1
dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

if that doesn't work maybe 192.168.1.254 ro 192.168.1.1 for the gateway

The browser is fantastic. When you hold both triggers you can scroll down the page. I just used it on a long neogaf thread, super useful.

The killer feature no one talks about though is the surround sound with the GamePad speakers. It's awesome. Even watching youtube is a pleasure with the extra sound coming from my hands. I love Wii U's aural experience.

Miiverse is amazing. Perhaps the best thing about my short time with the Wii U so far. Hope the community keeps growing and keeps active!!

Had a bit of trouble getting online, but I followed the steps posted and it worked after some fiddling.

Update is downloading very quickly. I'm enjoying the different music coming out of the Gamepad and TV.

Setting up Wifi automatically -> Connection Test worked -> System Update gets Error 108-0144 after 15 seconds.
Setting up Wifi manually with workaround -> Connection Test worked -> System Update gets Error 108-0144 after 15 seconds.

Server problem i guess? Q_Q

people are very helpful when you ask questions

I am still amazed by the art some are able to pull off. And when this thing hits 1-2 million users worldwide wow. I really cannot wait to see what kind of impact it has on gaming. With the launch in Europe my Wara Wara Plaza is not crowded full time. Before at night you would see less miis come in but now 24hours of crazy miis :)

yeah buttons are better then all this pinching and multi touch nonsense to browse the internet

How do I trigger the MiiVerse to have more than the initial Nintendo-Miis and messages? It does not show up any game "hubs" and user made messages etc :(

Should I bother getting Nintendoland?

Games are so overpriced here (UK) and it just seems like a bunch of mini games.

It's the equivalent of Wii Sports in that regard. The entire point is to give you an idea of the different types of functionality and play style possibilities you have with the game pad. I've personally really enjoyed a few games on there, but they're the simpler games that don't have a lot of bells and whistles.

I personally wouldn't even think about paying $60 for it. I only have it because it came with the black Wii U with the larger hard drive. I would have paid $50 extra for that WITHOUT Nintendo Land's inclusion. The amount of content is very limited, and if you don't own a Wii already or if you don't have a lot of friends interested in multiplayer, you'll only be able to access about half of the already limited content.

IMO it's overpriced junk. I'd recommend watching youtube videos of the minigames to see if they'd interest you, also taking notice of the number and type of controllers required to play each mini-game. If it interests you then, go for it. Personally I think it'll be in the bargain bin or being sold off cheap by thousands of people within weeks and you can get it much cheaper. The best part of the game to me is the Plinko mini-game that you play in order to win prizes. The game could have been far more interesting if the Plaza in which all the Mii's congregate was real-time instead of just a bunch of random Miis spouting the same thing over and over.

Definitely take this advice. You're looking at a relatively large investment for what amounts to a series of distractions.

Had no problems at all setting my WiiU up. Connected on first try, initial update took about 50 minutes including install.

NNID: Spocker if anyone wants to add me to their friends list

you can't call your ISP support? They will ask for your MAC ID it is in your internet options
and smooth sailing. I don't understand so many people have trouble with this but they refuse to call support. I did not even bother waiting 2 minutes when I tried my Wifi and it failed, I just called them gave the Mac ID they saw the Wii U on their end and just made sure it connected. Most ISPs can do this for you that is why the MAC ID is there.

Got mine just now and a copy of the new NSMB game. Waiting for my train home. I wanted the white one, since I hate visible fingerprints all over my electronics, but they are all sold out it seems.

Also it is snowing outside ever so slightly. Great video game weather.

P.S. what the hell, we have three Wii U technical threads on the frontpage.

Why isn't the Wii U connecting? It makes no sense. Every other device I own JUST WORKS.

Bought a Wii mote and nunchuck, wanna try COD but it's not on the eshop...

Haha. I did the same thing. Put $100 bucks on the eShop, THEN realized it wasn't available. Had to go spend $60 on COD anyway, so I used some of those funds to buy Sonic Racing. Now I have to wait for something I care to pay full price for to show up on the shop.

They really need to make it so you can have a private miiverse community thread. (which you can invite friends to join in) And not just limit it to games/apps.

A Wii game community is also needed.

I was extremely surprised with the speaker quality. I'm very happy they didn't completely cheap out like they did with the Wii ones.

Nintendo Land is very highly produced and you can have tons of fun with it. Just know that $60 is a high price to pay for something that isn't really all that cohesive an experience, and the single player games, while entertaining, will not keep you coming back for hours (except maybe Donkey Kong's Crash Course).

If you are in a domestic or social environment where you can play local multiplayer somewhat often, you will get a LOT of mileage out of Nintendo Land. As a local multiplayer experience, it is phenomenal -- one of the best I've had in years.

NSMBU just trolled me. I started getting frustrated and throwing some mild f-bombs and the game asked me "Do you want to post a two-word summary of this course on Miiverse?"

IT'S LIKE IT KNEW

return it and get your money back

it seems you are way beyond help at this point in your frustration, you won't make a simple phone call to help yourself, asking WHY is not going to get you connected. I understand the frustration I have this issue with every platform here because of interference the ISP having your MAC ID helps.

The Wii U gets online just fine, out of everyone here enjoying the online, you could too it is not impossible like you said all your other stuff work just fine. Wii U may just take a bit more doing.

Yes, that's why there are reports everywhere saying people are having to manually configure their connection to force it to connect. It's obviously just a software issue that can be fixed via an update, but to say that the system "gets online just fine" is just not true.

I have the same issue, called support 3 times. No dice. Let's face the facts. This is probably one of the only electronic devices on the planet released in 2012 with this kind of crazy wireless connectivity issues.

Which games are you playing? The 6 single player games are surprisingly deep with extra difficulty levels after beating the initial stages. Stamps are pretty challenging to get as well. So with just that, it's way more in-depth than Wii Sports.

The 3 co-op games can also be played with just 1 player, each with separate modes for 1-player Gamepad or 1-player Wii remote. These are the Zelda, Pikmin, Metroid games; and they all have a long list of levels with bosses at the end. There's even an extra challenge of achieving mastery rank for each, e.g., don't take damage and/or complete within an amount of time. The game does a good job tracking your progress for which controller mode and mastery/played or not.

If you do have friends and extra Wii remotes, just the 3 competitive games are enough to sell the $350 package. I brought an extra Deluxe system to a friend's and after a few hours of frantic fun on just these 3 games (Mario, Luigi, Animal Crossing), my friend bought my extra even though he wasn't even considering getting a Wii U.

ZombiU is supposed to be a LOT better than reviews indicated. NSMBU is a lot better than previous NSMB games, and can be pretty challenging at times. I don't know if you've already played older versions of a lot of the ports, but I'm personally enjoying Black Ops 2 a lot, and I haven't noticed any problems with framerate or anything.

I have to say, this system has a ton of great looking launch titles. The big problem is that so many of us have already played many of them.

So last night my girlfriend invited two of her friends to come play my Wii U and it was a blast. Unfortunately, this would be the first time id see my wii u hard lock only when playing Nintendoland at the character selection screen... I turned off the internet and I had no more problems luckily, I hope they fix whatever problem Miiverse is causing..otherwise wow it was really fun to play with a bunch of random people, they had never seen a wii u yet and were sold on wanting one after. I find it funny how much my girlfriend loves zombi u and nintendoland, she hasnt been this interested in playing video games since yoshis island's for snes..

Called Virgin, they CANNOT HELP.

It wont even connect to my router WITHOUT SECURITY ON.

It's fucking shit.

You have to manually configure the connection.

Go to another device, phone, laptop, iPad, PS3, anything. Have a look at the advanced status and note down the information. Set your Wii-U to connect manually. Connect to you network, enter your password, put in your information:

IP address - 192.168.0.25
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default gateway - 192.168.0.1
DHCP - 192.168.0.1

Select the option to set DNS manually

Primary DNS - 8.8.8.4
Secondary DNS - 8.8.4.4

Then it should force a connection and use Google's public DNS. If any of the information from your own settings are different, switch them over. However, since you have the Virgin supercraphub it should all work without any changes.

I've played everything you can play with just one person, as well as Mario Chase. Yeah, there are harder modes for these games, but let's face it: they're still mini games. There are a few I love, and I'm glad I got the game just to be able to play them, but it doesn't change the fact that most of the games are repetitive tech demos. And that's okay. It's a system feature demoing launch title.

But the stamps and all that..... eh. Some games I feel inspired to go on a collectathon, but not in a situation like this where I feel like they don't add much to my experience of the game.

Like I said before: I like it, and I'm not unhappy that I have it, but it's definitely not worth paying full price for, unless you just have money to throw away.

This doesn't work for everyone. He already did this probably which allows the system to connect to the router, but it still won't connect to the internet.

There has been like 50+ posts in this thread alone with people having this issue, I was just replying trying to help not defending the connection there is already a Wii U Ethernet Adapter Issue but if you guys want to treat us like customer service and yell your frustration at us it is best you return your Wii U because this thing is full of more frustrations to come with long downloads of Updates and Installs oh forgot crashes and lock ups might as well give up if all you want to do is scream This is Shit.

Recently I had a problems with tablets and laptops suddenly deciding they didn't want to connect to the network. Tried a bunch of different things but the most obvious which was resetting the router did the trick.

I have ZombiU coming in next week, still unsure about NSMBU.

I'm sure as the next wave of games gets announced, particularly Nintendo first party efforts, there's going to be more there for me.

For now, it's fun to mess around with new hardware (yeah, I'm a nerd like that. ;) )

I give up, your wifi has beaten me Nintendo. ._.

Also whats the point in the TV remote option? It's so limited and I can barely even change inputs on it. And that takes forever and is literally the only button that is relevant to me.

My kids came home and needed to do some homework. Me playing mario on the TV was distracting them, so my wife asked me to pause or turn it off for a while. Without moving I pressed the TV button to bring up the overlay, turned the TV off and carried on playing.

That's what the TV remote option is for.

(Really only saves you a few seconds, but its one less remote to pick up, and universal make millions each year on universal remotes so its useful for enough people).

Really is the best 2D mario effort since the SNES era. Worth scoping out. Especially if you can get it used at a place with a good return policy.

Virginia superhub? Had nothing but trouble with that, ended up just using it in modem mode and buying a different router. Lots of people have problems with those.

Use something else on your network to find out what your router settings are. I think by default, virgin are 192.168.1.xxx

So try in manual setup on the wiiU

Set your IP address to 192.168.1.60 (should be safe and not clash with anything up there)
Set your gateway to 192.168.1.1 (should be the default)
Ue Virgins DNS settings:
DNS1: 194.168.4.100
DNS2: 194.168.8.100
