World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

Japanese voices being tied to day one edition is some real bullshit.

I'm picking up my copy later today but how do I know if it's day one or not?

It's plastered all over the box 'day one edition'
Oh okay, that's good. Places here were promoting the DLC and Japanese voices as preorder bonuses and those are no longer listed on the product listings of the websites so it's a bit worrying.

The PSN store has the day one edition up though. I guess I will see soon.

Edit: Apparently only the Vita physical edition got a day one version here in Australia - even people who preordered the PS4 version are saying they aren't getting the DLC codes. Mess.

Honestly considering just refunding my order and passing on this.

Edit 2: Ended up asking for a refund on my order and buying it from a U.K. online store which had Day One PS4 copies. I'm not in a huge rush to play it and would rather get the bonus DLC and Japanese voices.

Not 3 or really even 2 games I want so I passed up next week's Target deal(Buy2get1) and just got WoFF today. Played quite a bit(up to the Coliseum). Enjoying the game quite a lot. Characters are awesome...even the annoying Tala from the demo seems better.

How do I use the "flutter" ability though? Or ride the mirages when I get those? Think I missed some stuff in the camp sealed by walls because I couldn't use the flutter to talk to the guards. You think the game would tell me how to use something I have access to...but nope.

At Target I got the Day One edition which I guess is the limited edition. I got the code for Sephiroth and costumed mirages so that's good.

I thought I was going find it grating, but the humor is great and so on-point for me. At the beginning when they see themselves in their chibi-style and start laughing their asses off at how ridiculous they look, it was damn near fourth-wall breaking; it made fun of itself which helped me roll with it.

This is overflowing with soul and charm, it's crazy. The fast-forward function tied to R1 is a godsend. It feels like they knew everything that people could possibly complain about, whether it be from the chibi style to the slow-paced battles, and wrote/executed it in such a way that makes it so much easier to go along with.

There will be icons for things like Flutter, Sizzle, Smash, etc right on the map when they're usable. For example, there's a Flutter spot shortly after a Smash spot in the Nether Nebula.

Press up on the d-pad to mount/toggle a mirage you've learned Joyride with. Down to dismount

Whoever is telling you that is wrong. I'm in Sydney and just walked into JB Hi Fi and picked up the day one edition. Just double checked and can confirm the dlc code is in there.

I'm having just way too much fun with this game. Day just kinda flew by, can't wait to keep playing this weekend. Humor in this game is pretty good, especially in the creature descriptions.

Let's do this

Another funny description, this one for Garchimacera:

This mirage is just a little monster. The absolute worst guy on the block. ...No, really. He's the sort that uses a magnifying glass to torture bugs. Or status ailments to pick on Mirage Keepers. And yeah, we don't know how to pronounce his name either.

Yeah. The fast forward is great. I have the battle speed set to 5 in the config and I still need to use it.

The intervention side quests imo have the funniest moments thus far imo. Make sure you do them.

Just received my copy and, as I feared, it's not the day one edition. Hopefully the English voices are at least tolerable.

Was is PS4 ? Maybe SE screwed up i also didnt get Day One edition even though i pre ordered and got it 2 days early :/

English voices are fine. I would go so far as to say they are some of the best voice overs for a game in this genre in a loooooooong time.

Yeah, it's ps4. I assumed it'd be another Type-0 situation where all standard editions would be day one editions. Seems like that's not the case because a few UK based stores got a small stock of day one editions and the rest were just standard editions without the DLC.

Chapter 16:
using Alexander as the Big Bridge was pretty inspired.

Wow at the Brothertaur + transfig's mirage board. Strength+ x6. Critical+ x4.. It's all about that physical attack.

This is WAY more charming and polished than I expected from the demo. Japanese VO is fantastic as well.

The demo picked the most uninspired, bland area and gave a poor introduction to the battle system. They fucked up

Imp: Some of you might have lingering traumatic memories of a little ability called Confuse XVI

Chapter 16:
oh boy they're teasing Gilgamesh hard

Also I love when games do things like this: the chapter 16 dungeon has a lot of long stretches of walking. Bunch of encounters. I start to get pissed off. "This game needs a way to decrease encounters!" Lo and behold what's at the end of one of these long paths, but a mirajewel that does just that.

Lmao these mirage descriptions are amazing.

Did the same localization team that does XIV do this? XIV does the same kind of 4th wall breaking insanely silly yet funny stuff.

I legitimately get confused when people say the English voice acting is bad. This some of the best jRPG voice acting we've gotten in a LONG time. Maybe it's the direction people don't like with it resembling more a kid's cartoon as opposed to...I dunno.

This is a little random, but at the pace I'm playing it's probably going to be ages before I see for myself, so I was just curious.

Does the game manage to avoid saying anything gross about Tifa? As in, does it avoid how Crisis Core, Dissidia, FFXIV and even Thetrhythm make off-handed remarks about her figure?

Sure, little one-off jokes here and there aren't necessarily mean-spirited, but it would be a little weird if they did that in this game considering the chibi aesthetics.

I'm playing in English as well and it's great.
The scenes with Lann and Serafie are legitimately hilarious.

They generally just talk about how strong and fond of punching she is.

Good, that's what I was hoping for.

Those are the qualities that should define the character, not her "big bosom and long legs". Any character who is defined by sex appeal is a flat character in my book.

No pun intended.

Yeah they don't mention anything about her figure.

She's pretty awesome in this and I found one of her sidequests to be hilarious.

I'm surprised about how good this game really is. The humor is wild. The combat is old school but still fun and new with the Mirage implementation. Fast forwarding easy battles is also pretty awesome. What a solid effort. Good job Square.

I really like the localization in general here. The voice acting is a part of that, but the amount of natural in-jokes, 4th wall jokes, laughing at itself, etc makes for a really fun experience. It's almost refreshing that it doesn't feel like I'm playing a robotic translation of a Japanese experience for once.

It's now my headcanon that she's somewhat like Goku in that she wants to spar with people, but they're so terrified of her punches that they quickly decline.

Most games that go for humor, especially indie games, are way too try-hard and rely on internet forum memes. It's like "hey this line will make GAF laugh!" And most of the time it's an immediate turn-off for me. "All your base" jokes especially are like a cold dagger through my heart.

Thankfully, this game seems to be mostly avoiding that.

I'm surprised Square didn't launch the game with a blitz of Funko Pop figures. All the characters already look like them and I would guess that former fans or people who just don't care for World of FF would still be interested.

It is really good so far the only thing I can't stand though is Tama adding "the" before words has gotten super annoying fast. Still the game design is great and so far I'm enjoying it quite a abit.

Has anyone caught a floating eye in the nether nebula? I ran into one and can't seem to find another one again!!! >.<

The floating eye has an uncommon rate of encounter, its rng, eventually youll find one again

I think enprism condition is to leave it last standing, but it's been a while for me
