It's usually a wash. If they sell directly through site, that might be the best way, but I don't know if they do that.
The font looks really bad to me. I actually find it pretty hard to read the dialogue boxes in the other screens without being bothered. It's way too thin for my liking. I think the font could be acceptable for info display if they really need the space for more text, but definitely not for dialogue!![]()
I understand the complaints but I wanted to mention that Xseed actually improved the font from the JP PC version to the one we're getting.

Which shows the dialogue boxes have shrunk.
What is that game ? look like a tactical rpg, looking good but how is the story ?
Standard resolutions have changed a bit since 2004.
It's nothing like a tactical RPG, battle-wise, more like something between Lunar and Grandia.

I'm excited to see what kind of music this has. I'm assuming that it's not the godlike rock stuff from Ys, but hopefully it's of equal quality.
and the story ? I just saw on wiki that it's a trilogy, im guessing we wait and see if the PC version sell well to bring the other parts over
The music is good, though not as good as later Kiseki games or the best of Ys.I'm excited to see what kind of music this has. I'm assuming that it's not the godlike rock stuff from Ys, but hopefully it's of equal quality.

I still can't beleive it's only 6 days away... Such short announcements are the bestAlso, I wonder how well it'll play with mouse+kb.
The story is excellent as long as you like slow burn, world-building and character development. Don't expect loads of fireworks (not until the end). It really sets the scene meticulously.

Actually, the amount of text overflows and text looping back onto itself in the initial builds before the font was changed was crazy. Practically every other monster description had at least one line that was too long, the recipe book was even worse, loads of the item descriptions looped back on themselves, the prologue's name was about one and a half times longer than the space it was being crammed into... So basically it was pick a thinner font or start rewriting lines everywhere to be shorter.Yeah the font is really bad. They definitely don't need the space though going by

Got a number of hours into this on PSP, but a lot of the dialog was very... anime-ish. Usually that wouldn't turn me off completely, but the story was picking up extremely slowly as well, so there wasn't really anything to motivate me to suffer through that inane dialog any longer.
Is it worth another shot? Or do those "cutesy" anime quips come thick and fast the whole way through?

It's a slow game. It's the first part of a trilogy, so the first episode is mostly about exploring and discovering the world before shit goes down later in the game. I can't answer your question, though, since you're incredibly vague. I don't know what "Anime-ish" and "cutesy anime quips" are supposed to mean.
Well I don't know how else to explain it... it was a bit too heavy on the "silly meaningless chatter" I guess? I'm not trying to be abrasive or anything.I don't know what "Anime-ish" and "cutesy anime quips" are supposed to mean.

The "cover" thing is also going to get really funny for SC, because XSEED has... three? four? different ones to choose from for that game, despite the fact that it won't even get a physical release. You've got the original PC cover/key art, the PSP key art, the HACCAN key art which was used for the FC/SC combo pack (and I know Tom, at least, is a huge fan of that one)... and any one of them would make a good choice since they largely avoid the trap that the FC PSP cover falls into.![]()
(My personal vote is also for the HACCAN art because gatdam)
Sadly it isn't just attack either, you can see it for other abilities in the trailer. I hope it can be fixed somehow.I don't mind the font really, but "Attack" not being centered looks really odd. Not a big deal, of course, but would be cool to see it patched.
Is the story any good?

Thanks, JB2448!
I'm more wondering if there's some pre-formated work. Searching Haccan with either Trails in the Sky or Sora no Kiseki will get you art, just you might need to crop it first. You could share that art with the rest of us to use it on our phones as well.
Well, it certainly is verbose and inefficient with its use of words. Playing the first game on PSP I thought it badly needed an editor. All the talk of how long the script is isn't really something to boast about.

Really don't think it's hard to read though. Couple of screenshots at 1680x1050 (because my monitor can't do any higher):

The series is extremely big on verisimilitude and making the world feel like a "bigger" place than just your party or even your main character; part of the way they try to achieve that is by giving a lot of the incidentals plenty to say and by trying to make the dialogue flow like actual conversation and in SC in particular, giving your party members something to say and do in places where such characters in other RPGs would simply be mute cardboard standees.
How much it works will heavily be in the eye of the beholder, but it's definitely not mindless chatter and it was done for a reason.
It'll be centered eventually, just that this game has had a long history of complicated problems and that one is by far the least of it. It'll probably get centered after it comes out, but we don't want to delay the launch any longer than we have to for something really minor that doesn't keep the game from being enjoyable or playable like a few lines of uncentered text.

I'd like to get this, but since I've already bought and beaten the PSP version, I don't know if I want to repurchase it for $20, especially since it's a digital game. This wouldn't have been a concern if it were my first version I'd be buying. I'm torn between buying it the first day it comes out and waiting for a later sale on GOG. (that's where I'd most likely buy it from)
