Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Argh. I probably physically own every game I want that they'll release digitally... But $10 is such a good price, and thinking of how much Metroid Prime Trilogy could go for in the future... D:

Makes me wonder what they'll do for the random token thing in Metroid Prime 3. It'll just be a dead menu where you can't do anything or will they actually bother to update the service to use the WiiU online?

What did that do exactly? They could just remove it or if it added content, just put it in the game anyway. Capcom put in the multiplayer-only chips into the Single Player mode in the VC release of Battle Network 2!

My space bucks are ready!

Hopefully my saves from the disc versions work but I don't know.

For people who already have Galaxy 2 - I assume this has no trouble picking up your saves from Wii mode?

===

What's everyone's wish lists? I'd be great if 3rd parties joined in the fun too, but based off the Wii U virtual console, that doesn't seem likely.

Saves work fine. I transferred my save from the Wii -> Wii U when I got the system, I can't remember if I played the disc version of Mario Galaxy 2 on my Wii U but the digital version has picked up that save fine.

I pretty much own all the games I want for the Wii except for Metroid Trilogy. I'd probably pick up Xenoblade since I didn't play it rather than pay for the n3DS port. I'd also buy Disaster: Day of Crisis out of principle, even though I already own the disc.

Why on earth would nintendo prefer to outsource a studio to make an inferior downgraded port of Xenoblade on a new segregating handheld instead of just making a wii version downloadable on wii U like these three games?

Ncompetentence.

MS and Sony. Are you thinking of something different?

You are thinking about the remasters, there are very few of those (Halo, The last of us...).

Sony has PSOne and PS2 games on the store and they are all exact ports, with the exact same resolution as they were created. How is this any different?

A poverty of logical thought

In for all of these. $10 for All the metroid primes is almost highway robbery.

Yeah I know. The game alone is like £70. £9 to experience this (even as a digital) is a bargin. The thing is already own the physical copy so I won't be buying it but yeah. Good on Nintendo for bring this out.

Not sure if they run that well. GBA and DS games definitely don't have any issues running on 3DS hardware.

It can run NES games. I doubt running a SNES system would be too taxing for the 3DS.
Nintendo already shut down the online for Wii games, last year I think.

Eh. Could probably do with just local play at that point.

I'm ashamed to say that I've never played Sin & Punishment Wii. That will probably be the first one I'll pick up.

I played most of the major Wii releases though. I guess I also never got around Rhythm Heaven Fever, so there's that.

Tatsunoko is a 100% no go since the license officially expired early last year IIRC, Capcom announced at themselves. :( Unless they go through the effort of signing up for it again for this purpose, it's not happening.

Ah, right. But still, it is a wishlist :)

I'd also like Okami but the Wii version will look very sad alongside the PS3 HD version.

Will definitely grab Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch Out. It's too bad Xenoblade probably won't go up for download. Makes me particularly not care for their decision to demaster it for New 3DS.

Wow, the system reboots on exiting?

So this is one of those half-assed implementations due to hardware limitations (like GBA games on the 3DS; too bad these aren't free Ambassador games to apologize for the Wii U price).

If you don't like the black bars (which are present because Wii/GCN games on the Wii U are scaled to 960p with simple pixel doubling) simply switch your system from 1080p to 480p before loading the games.

They damn well better give us the "International Edition" since the JP release fixed numerous issues and added the credits which were removed from the initial release. Was really pissed they never did an International Edition. It'd be easy as pie to do, especially now.

How do you know its downgraded? Sources?

Really glad to see MPT escape the clutches of Gamestop and scalpers on Ebay. I do have a copy in original steelbook print, but everyone deserves a chance to play this. It's really nice being able to go through the first two games with wiimote aiming.

Is switching classic controller support with pro controller support and making them available on the Eshop their substitute for HD remasters? I'm sure its much easier at any rate.

Also the upscaling process the Wii U does makes them look better than on the Wii component cables by default, so its almost kinda like a Wii U quality upgrade to start even though its no Dolphon. GJ Nintendo, this was a very smart move.

*EDIT*

So no controller support!? Meh.

Free PC software can immediately upscale the resolution on Wii games to HD but the Wii U cannot? Come on Nintendo. That would have been the real Megaton.

So you have to use wiimote and nunchuk for Galaxy 2, correct? There's no way of playing this game using gamepad or pro controller?

I love that we can use the Wii U gamepad to control the games that are compatible with the classic controller. Just wish we could use it for the Wii games we already own.

What did that do exactly? They could just remove it or if it added content, just put it in the game anyway. Capcom put in the multiplayer-only chips into the Single Player mode in the VC release of Battle Network 2!

You sent tokens you found in the game to your friends and they could do the same and it unlocked bobble heads and bumper stickers for Samus' ship.

Giving the tokens to a friend was the only way, you couldn't use your own tokens.

how the hell is an HD upgrade simple? More than likely it's just using Wii mode of Wii U to play the game.. Doing an HD "upgrade" would require either re-coding every single title for Wii U specifically (super costly) or instead using an emulator on Wii U (like VC) at which point taking everything up to 1080p by default can and will lead to different performance results across probably most or all titles. Out of all of the consoles that have had backwards emulation, why do you think none of them scaled the resolution up? Because you are never going to get consistent performance from game to game.

OK I never said it would be "simple" ;) I said... How hard would it be?.. meaning how hard would it be to have a very small team work on the emulation of these titles.. even if it was just 720p with a gamepad control option added it would result in much more interest, buzz and sales IMO. I would be really surprised if the Wii U couldn't handle it, especially if they chose specific games that would perform well.

I expect GBA on 3DS will shortly follow then, as they no longer seem to care about Miiverse/Internet Browser/Game Notes implementation.

Why doesn't the Wii U have game notes? :(

Where are my Gamecube titles?

When can I get RE4, Super Mario Galaxy, Melee, and StarfuckingFox Adventures on my WiiU

Yeah Fucking Star Fox Adventures.

Fuck you it's a good game.

£17.99 Normal price. That's lower than I was expecting from Nintendo. I'll get MPT as I only had MP3 in the Wii days.

Hidden gem on the Wii and actually very cheap.

Oh right, full priced remasters, like how Nintendo have already done with Wind Waker. These are Virtual Console, though, the old games uploaded digitally. I don't recall any of my PS1 PSN games getting a higher resolution.

Full priced resmasters? As of next week, Resident Evil 1 is being released (reworked with new textures, resolution scaling, models and a lot more) for the Xbox One and PS4 at £15(Not full price). Nintendo are releasing Mario Galaxy 2 for £17.99 still in SD.

Nintendo should've just re-released this in HD. Also, no HD collection is full price. They're around the budget title price mark of around £20ish.

My point being, this shouldn't have been a Virtual Console game but part of a new Nintendo series called HD Nintendo(or something). That's what I was expecting/hoping for.

I got excited until I realised you would still have to use the wiimote for most games, negating the reason I was excited in the first place. Wii games on the gamepad.

For those who already have Super Mario Galaxy 2 on eShop : Is it possible to use Game Pad's sensor bar ? I heard that it only works in Wii Mode.

I'm in US here but I'm sure it'll come soon so two questions:

Does Kirby's Return to Dream Land, S&P2, and Pandora's Tower support classic controller? Wanna play these with gamepad. (Let's add in The Last Story as well since I also need to play that.)

Well I guess Kirby doesn't matter that much since WiiMote only isn't too bad from previous experiences...

And two: Its only the first three games that are on sale for a week right? The wording kinda made it sound like all games but that would be too good to be true and its NOA lol.
