Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Nintendont can support everything that uses Bluetooth to communicate, or USB. GamePad uses proprietary 5GHz Wi-Fi Direct connection, so they can't add support for it. Hopefully Nintendo's shenanigans for making their Wii re-releases work with the GamePad will help Nintendont developers to add GamePad support.

I can play a super Nintendo game with the wii u game pad,
is this not the same?

Fuck everything. I just got the Trilogy on disk. Can't justify buying it again when it probably won't even fit on my Wii U. But at the same time, I kind of want to buy it just so I can show Nintendo Other M sold like shit because it was a shit game, not because it was a Metroid game and that good Metroid games can and will make money.

So I'm torn.
Keep in mind that Sin and Punnishment's great sales on VC lead to a new one :P

It's 10 bucks dude.

Oh right, full priced remasters, like how Nintendo have already done with Wind Waker. These are Virtual Console, though, the old games uploaded digitally. I don't recall any of my PS1 PSN games getting a higher resolution.

I assume that is what he was talking about but I couldn't say for sure, I wouldn't call them full price remasters either cause GOW was 39.99 when it came out I think and it had a few games that were nicely redone.

I would love some PS1 remasters too actually. Jumping Flash comes to mind.

Nintendont = Wii mode (vWii) hack. SNES VC = Wii U application. Very different things.

I was talking about Wii re-releases working with the GamePad , same as Snes VC games that work with the game pad as well. This didn't help Nintendont developers to add GamePad support?

I am confused.

Wiimote sideways and motion controls are the only means of playing. Odd that none of the initial lineup allows for GamePad controls. My copy of Punch-Out was stolen years ago, so I'll pick this up for $10 without a second thought.
Ah well, Wiimote sideways still worked pretty great & I've got my Skyward Sword one I can use.

Was it confirmed $20 will be the price for EVERY Wii game that hits eventually, or just these three?

Just made a "Wii" folder and threw the Wii mode icon in there. Waiting for Galaxy 2 to finish up. I still haven't really decided how I want my folders to be set up. Anyone else have folder OCD? I change how mine are presented at least twice a week if not more.

Mine are sorted by generation (NES and then on in order) but I wish there were smooth color transitions. I don't want all my folders one color and especially not tons of colors.

Just to clarify, you can use the GamePad as a controller for some games, but even with those there's no Off-TV Play, right? Thanks!

They're only some of the best games ever.

That's why they're on the to-play list! Other games I haven't played, that I own, that are on my to-play list:

Super Metroid
Earthbound
Multiple Zelda games
Chrono Cross
Probably some other classics...

:D

GameStop is offering $14 trade value for Super Mario Galaxy 2, so I think I'm going to trade towards eShop credit to get the digital version on Wii U. I'm all digital on Wii U games, so I may as well switch to digital on Wii games as well.

No idea. There's something weird going on if Nintendont can support pro and not gamepad, and Wii VC titles can support Gamepad but not Wii U Pro...

Can't play Resi 4 from the comfort of my bed yet though ;(

Wii U Pro is Bluetooth like the old Wii controllers. the Gamepad uses a different Wifi signal that didn't exist when the Wii was made. it's easy to make the pro controller work but the gamepad needs new code that isn't there at all.

looking at things, there must be some new code included allowing for the upcoming Wii eShop games to use gamepad buttons.

About to download Mario galaxy 2. The game sells for $29.99. Being able to purchase for 10.99 is great.

Also wii remote+nunchuck controls for galaxy were fantastic. Some people really hate the remote for no reason. Going to play the shit out of this

Any idea if we can use the Wii U pro controller for games that support the Wii classic controller pro?

Also I really hope they release Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn in the same manner!

No game with "Shake your land like a bee landed on it" replacing a button press has ever had "fantastic" controls.

No. As of right now, there is no Wii game (retail or eShop) that supports the Wii U Gamepad as an input option. Once they do (either because it's implemented as a system-wide option or because an eShop version is released), you will be able to play them off-screen and with a Wii U Gamepad.

Keep in mind that the off-screen function for Wii games simply makes the Gamepad behave like a TV that mimics whatever the console is sending to your actual TV (regardless of whether it's on or off at the moment), so there's no real issue in terms of compatibility with having the Gamepad as a control option.

Same answer as for the previous question: we really don't know. The Wii U Pro Controller uses standard Bluetooth, while the Gamepad uses its own proprietary wireless system, so I wouldn't count on having both options available at the same time.

In North America, yes. You have to remember, though, that Nintendo's main operation is in Japan, where consoles are becoming a niche product and JRPGs are huge.

An it's that focus of theirs that's part of their current problems. The rest of the world is a far larger market than Japan, Sony's more or less laughing it up with PS4 sales regardless of its poor performance in Japan.

When X3DS was first announced and some questioned why not a WiiU remaster (As opposed to this demaster that X3DS pretty much is) reasons such as costs of making a HD game vs a 3DS game came up. Now we have something like this with Eshop releases of Wii titles yet somehow NOJ in its wisdom decided Xenoblade Wii is better of on the n3DS first (I'm assuming at some point it will come to the WiiU) rather than the system that's actually getting the sequel to the game in a format where the whole costs argument is practically null and void.

That makes literally no sense especially considering that the Wii VC titles are essentially straight ports vs Monster Games having to hack and dice Xenoblade down to shoe horn it onto the n3DS. I've said it before and i still stand by it, not every Nintendo IP needs to be on a handheld. Xenoblade of all things hardly screams handheld suited game especially with the scale of the game that's pretty much thrown at you at regular intervals and even if they had to have it on a handheld why first when the sequel is right around the corner (hopefully). If anything WiiU owners who haven't had the chance to play Xenoblade (Which i'd bet are a lot considering how expensive and rare it is) are the ones who should be getting the opportunity to play it as soon as possible in an ideal manner.

Plus it's simply a lot neater and cheaper to have both games on one system in their ideal form vs the original in a less than ideal form on one system then the sequel on another. That's essentially asking a non WiiU owner who's never played Xenoblade to buy a n3DS + Xenoblade (Full price) + a WiiU + XCX if they want the complete Xenoblade package.
