Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

While this is great for people who might have skipped the Wii to be able to play some of these great games. I find it hypocritical that a lot of people on GAF, will call out Sony, Microsoft and what not for re-releasing old games or remaster's on PS4, PS3, XB360, XBONE.

And yet are praising Nintendo in this thread for doing exactly that, and their not even HD remaster's, so I would hope a cheap price would be attached to these titles.

As some people can find the hard copies second hand or Nintendo classics that they sell for 19.99 and just pop them into the Wii U and play it.

I guess Nintendo fan's have double standard's on NEOGAF.

NEOGAF GOING TO NEOGAF.

Man, my dad went nuts trying to grab me a copy of Kirby: return to dream land during Christmas time :( at least it's a really cool game so far and I love having disks.

Mario galaxy 2 for ten bucks? Looks like I'll be buying that, punch out, and the trilogy since those are all too good to pass up!

Will scream when Xenoblade is released for $10 (although they probably won't do this considering the 3ds version). Paid $70 for that game last year.

You need to name those one.

EDIT: probably satire like Gleehor said, he got me...

Is this satire?

An it's that focus of theirs that's part of their current problems. The rest of the world is a far larger market than Japan, Sony's more or less laughing it up with PS4 sales regardless of its poor performance in Japan.

When X3DS was first announced and some questioned why not a WiiU remaster (As opposed to this demaster that X3DS pretty much is) reasons such as costs of making a HD game vs a 3DS game came up. Now we have something like this with Eshop releases of Wii titles yet somehow NOJ in its wisdom decided Xenoblade Wii is better of on the n3DS first (I'm assuming at some point it will come to the WiiU) rather than the system that's actually getting the sequel to the game in a format where the whole costs argument is practically null and void.

That makes literally no sense especially considering that the Wii VC titles are essentially straight ports vs Monster Games having to hack and dice Xenoblade down to shoe horn it onto the n3DS. I've said it before and i still stand by it, not every Nintendo IP needs to be on a handheld. Xenoblade of all things hardly screams handheld suited game especially with the scale of the game that's pretty much thrown at you at regular intervals and even if they had to have it on a handheld why first when the sequel is right around the corner (hopefully). If anything WiiU owners who haven't had the chance to play Xenoblade (Which i'd bet are a lot considering how expensive and rare it is) are the ones who should be getting the opportunity to play it as soon as possible in an ideal manner.

Plus it's simply a lot neater and cheaper to have both games on one system in their ideal form vs the original in a less than ideal form on one system then the sequel on another. That's essentially asking a non WiiU owner who's never played Xenoblade to buy a n3DS + Xenoblade (Full price) + a WiiU + XCX if they want the complete Xenoblade package.

I agree, a good example of different territories being stronger for consoles and software sales would be look at XBox and Playstation for Month of November in US/UK.

these are like PS1 classics?

are PS1 classics running higher than their original resolution?

Oh dear, here we go...

Also wii remote+nunchuck controls for galaxy were fantastic. Some people really hate the remote for no reason. Going to play the shit out of this

Or do you not want to acknowledge the reasons? By that same vein, some people love it for no reason as well. Outside of the pointer usage, it doesn't meaningfully use them. It's mapping single triggered input to actions or mapping an XY axis in an identical way that an analog stick would. A majority of any unique motion functions in SMG is replicable with a typical gamepad.

GAF

Talk me out of buying e-versions of Wii games I'm staring at in the face right here.

GAF.

HELP. ME.

Edit: Time to buy Sin & Punishment: Star Successor all over again. I can finally get Kirby's Adventure for a non asinine price too.

What?

Metroid Prime Trilogy is out of print. Even if it was still printed, no way in hell would you be able to buy it for 10EUR.

They are simply releasing those games digitally. Nothing more. Nothing less. And especially for Metroid Prime Trilogy that is awesome. People who missed it and/or don't want to pay big bucks for the physical release can now buy this one. ... and they should.

It seem it boot the Wii mode, it's just a shortcut.

So then the gamepad can be used in Wii mode buttons and all. The direct said certain games that used the CC controller could substitute the buttons on the gamepad unless I interpreted it wrong.

Downloading SMG2 at the moment. Really excited to finally own the game (I've only ever played a couple of levels)

To anyone that doesn't own MPT or Punch-Out, $10 each is way too good of a deal for them. Fantastic games.

I already own all these games, why do I want to buy them all again?

I'm definitely getting MPT, I must purchase it for that price and send a message to Nintendo. GIMMIE MORE METROID! Getting all 3 amazing games for that price is INSANELY GOOD. MP1 is still one of the greatest of all time.

But I'm also tempted to grab Galaxy 2 lol.

Name these games from MS and Sony.

No game with "Shake your land like a bee landed on it" replacing a button press has ever had "fantastic" controls.

Considering most reviewers don't have too many problems with the controls and the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed the controls the original Mario galaxy, makes me think otherwise.

Shake the nunchuck. big deal.

You need to name those one.

I don't really as other older threads for the remaster DMC, Zone of Ender's, Ico/Shadow of colossus, Sleeping dogs(would have to agree that it didn't need to be ported), all have people in them saying shit against Sony and Microsoft for releaseing them. Granted most people in the thread are excited that they were getting ports to begin with.

But these Wii titles were already playable if you had the Hard Copies of them.

It's like there's double standard for anything Nintendo, and the other thread that became a shitstorm because of these type of double standard's, was about new IP's and Nintendo.

NO, these are fucking Wii games not games from the Gamecube era, maybe first Prime game. But MARIO Galaxy, Punchout and SIn and Punishment were from last generation not the one before it.

They are games that could have a HD remaster, but Nintendo just wants to put them out as to have them available, even though if you have a hard copy your playing the same thing.

Great, "most reviewers" and your personal opinion define reality. What, exactly, did motion controls add to the game that couldn't have been done better with a real controller designed with enough buttons to play the games made for the system?

Super Mario Galaxy's controls were as adequate as they could be while using the worst controller ever released. They didn't do anything worthwhile to take specific advantage of the motion control or pointer that couldn't have been done just as well with a traditional controller. Flying was kind of alright, I'll give it that much.

No. As of right now, there is no Wii game (retail or eShop) that supports the Wii U Gamepad as an input option. Once they do (either because it's implemented as a system-wide option or because an eShop version is released), you will be able to play them off-screen and with a Wii U Gamepad.

Keep in mind that the off-screen function for Wii games simply makes the Gamepad behave like a TV that mimics whatever the console is sending to your actual TV (regardless of whether it's on or off at the moment), so there's no real issue in terms of compatibility with having the Gamepad as a control option.

Oh, neat. Thank you!

This makes no sense. We call out Sony and MS for getting rid of BC and then forcing you to pay for their downloadable version. Nintendo hasn't taken that option away, but is allowing us to grab them another way, especially since some like Punchout and The Metroid Prime Trilogy are still fucking expensive on top of being rare to get. Getting them for $9.99/each is a literal blessing as I almost pulled the trigger on a $55 used copy last week.

ROCKET SCIENCE!

But hey, it's Nintendo so I must bitch about everything they do because I'M A REAL GAMER AND DARK SOULS GODDAMMIT.

Pretty sure you can stream PS3 games on PS4 with no upgrades and prices way too outrageous than $10 for a Wii game.
