Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

ICO/SHADOW was sold as a 2 game set, and ran 39.99, HD reslolution, trophy support, all that jazz.
Same went for Zone of Ender's 39.99 for the pack.
Jack and Daxter I wan tot say was even cheaper, and so was Ratchet and Clank. HD reslolutions and trophy support.
Wind waker HD was completely redone from the ground up which is why is was 50-60 bucks.

The price for these games is not what I have an issue with, it's great people can get them for cheap. But people making a big deal about it, and treating it like it's some huge thing is just, I don't know, can't even fathom it.
Games work if you have hard copies, there just making them available on the store.
Would have been much bigger if Metroid Prime HD trilogy 39.99 redone, Punchout HD.

DMC for what you are getting is actual a great value for a lot of people who missed it because of bad press . Especially since the game still sat on steam for 49.99 and didn't come with any DLC or any of the enhancements DMC remaster has.
But people on there, along with other thread's about remaster's from Sony, Microsoft, always bring out the card of originality and new games instead of remaster's.
Yet we have Nintendo just bringing digital copies of SD Wii games, they are at what they should be for price and everyone react's like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Which is why I hate the DOUBLE STANDARD Nintendo get's.
I look back now and feel a little bad as it seems I have shit up the thread with my outlook.
But after being in so many Nintendo thread's lately, it just was a jump off point of how unreasonable I find most Nintendo Poster's here on GAF.
You might just be mistaking this so-called double standard for brand enthusiasm. In which case, who cares? Can't people be excited without having to draw comparisons to other consoles? And unless you can show that specific members are doing what you're saying, then it's just speculation, but that'd be a big waste of time IMO.

Gonna try asking one more time:

Some questions:

- Does SMG2 see your original wii mode savegames?

- Does the game still have black borders?

- Can you go to the vWii menu from inside SMG2?

thanks :)

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but I just wanted to confirm that if you have a save from a disc version it carries over to the download version. Kinda handy.

this collection was 35pounds in UK.

SotC was and is broken (no, it's not just PAL)

I actually paid a total of $130 for the collection (imported from Japan). And it misses out on the making of videos, that were included for US + Europe (which simply makes no sense, the interviews were Japanese of course).

...and the European release didn't even include that making of on disc, but instead it was a download code.

Sony fucked that whole collection up. and the trophies for Ico actually ruined the game for me. Yorda's AI is not meant for speedruns.

But these are games that were not made during that generation, were talking about games only from couple years back like 2009,2010. The oldest is the Prime Trilogy.

They are more recent, and should get HD remakes like Wind Waker. These would benfit Nintendo more, as only hardcore people from GAF are actually the ones mostly buying from the ESTORE.

Budget HD remaster's of these games would help Nintendo out pad their 2015 year.

It's true that an HD remaster would be better.
For me it's just that i will finally able to buy Metroid Trilogy for 10$.

You don't need to be upset because some are more happy about this news than you and me.

I love how none of those games except Ico/SotC are from Sony or Microsoft. But sure thing buddy, keep up the bullshit posts. :)

Sure, what other remaster's would you like me to talk about. Ratchet and CLank, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid HD collection, God of War, Sly Cooper, Devil may cry HD Collection(Ps2).

HALO MCC,Gears HD collection which we all know is coming from tweets

So sorry if your Nintendo heart was hurt :( Just being real with the situation and expectations.

Which are not high, or exciting about this news.

I thought you could use the gamepad to play. Now I gotta go out and get a wiimote and a nunchuck. They need to let you have the option to play with just the gamepad.

I didn't have an issue with any of the them, I think Zone of Ender's was bad but I didn't buy it. Just played Second runner and only for a couple hours.

My previous Mario Galaxy 2 Save was compatible with the game! I can continue my previous game that i haven't finished.

That's really good news. I already own Mario Galaxy 2 and I want to get the MPT for Wii U... but it's not out for two weeks still... I could get Mario Galaxy 2 right now... I have $10 burning a hole in my eShop wallet... what do to??

Any visual difference? Does HDMI vs Component help any?

I think there is some slight improvement vs running it Component on Wii, it is upscaled over HDMI, it pretty much looks like what it does running in wii mode on Wii U. HDMI will make some flaws easier to see since it's sharper image but colors are better and you can adjust a picure mode to get it looking great imo.

No need to be salty because some people hurt your console's feelings. :) Maybe you should stop typing illogical posts and at least pretend to look for these so-called double standards.

It's pretty cool that I can load SMG2 from the quick start menu. :D
Much better than the typical go into Wii mode and then start the game. Honestly, they should add an option to boot straight into the Wii disc if one is inserted.

I kept thinking they were also going to announce Gamecube games would be available in the same manner as these Wii games. I'm assuming it wouldn't be any different than how these Wii games work. Plus nearly all Gamecube games could be made to work with the Gamepad. Hopefully soon.

Already beat Galaxy 2, wish it was Galaxy 1. Will get Metroid though!

Im glad that Wii games are getting put on the WiiU. Because that means that Xenoblade may be getting a release as well once X is a little closer to shipping...

Trade in Galaxy 2 at Gamestop for $14 or whatever and get an eShop card, problem solved!

Can you use the actual gamepad to control Mario?

Nope, you still need a Wii Remote.

Games that Originally supported the Wii Classic Controller like say Xenoblade, if it ever gets released, will let you control the game with the actual gamepad

All of these are amazing games.

Glad Punch Out is getting some attention. The animations in the game are awesome and really bring the characters and personalities to life.

I've grabbed it, but I'll probably still just end up playing it on the Dolphin emulator when my Mayflash Dolphin Bar arrives.

I don't think they would do that. I mean Xenoblade Chronicles 3D exists for a reason. But then again it's Nintendo, so we don't know.

Please, Bandai Namco.

But after being in so many Nintendo thread's lately, it just was a jump off point of how unreasonable I find most Nintendo Poster's here on GAF.

Oh brother.

Again, let’s go through what people hate about remasters:
1) They are expensive relative to the physical copies people can still buy and relative to the cost of new games. Remasters often retail initially for $40-$50.
2) These remasters requires resources to get them running in HD; this includes making sure all effects are working and the interface is in HD. People believe that these resources can be better used elsewhere.
3) People believe remasters are being used to fill gaps in first party lineups.
4) If, for example, you own a physical copy of the PS3 game that was later remastered for PS4, you will not be able to use your physical copy on the PS4.

Which of these three things apply to Nintendo? Is it because Nintendo is receiving a double standard or because Nintendo isn’t doing the things that make people angry:
1) They are very reasonably priced. They are premiering for $9.99 and going up to $19.99 for a full retail game.
2) They are going to be using the BC of the Wii U to run. It’s why the games are in 480p, but requires nearly zero of Nintendo’s resources.
3) Nintendo has a large number of first party titles for the Wii U.
4) If you can find the physical game cheaper, or just prefer physical copies, YOU CAN STILL USE IT and get the same exact experience.

And to top it off, if you can find a cheaper physical copy, you can still buy it and play it on the Wii U! Nintendo isn’t taking away backward compatibility, you now have two options.

Your opinion on this is so strange. You are making a false equivalency between these two situations. These games are a way for Nintendo to undercut scalpers since they are charging over full price for used copies of these games.
