No, the point of re-releasing Metroid Prime games on Wii was actually that, to use the motion controls. It'd be nice if they mapped the gyro and right analogue stick to mimic the original wii pointer. Captain Toad does it on the mine cart levels and it works surprisingly well.
Reading around it sounds like Metroid doesn't support the classic controller. Can anyone confirm this? I'd love to get this and play it on the controller's screen. Doing so with a wiimote would be awkward as, not to mention I don't have a wiimote.
What's wrong with options though, right? No, the point of re-releasing Metroid Prime games on Wii was actually that, to use the motion controls.
Just last week I was wanting to play Punch and almost bit on the steep ebay prices for a copy. Love how nintendo announces stuff so soon to launch.
you fuckers better buy sin and punishment 2
If you don't have black bars and you are playing with the Wii U in 1080p, your TV is overscanning everything FYI.
So if I have this right, these aren't going to playable without the Wiimote, right?
That's lame. I was hoping to play those games without it.
Fuck. Did not think about this.Kinda sad because it means no HD remasters for SMG and Metroid Prime Trilogy.
You can play 2 of them without the wiimote, on Gamecube. The entire point of bringing Prime 1/2 on Wii was to give people the same experience they got with 3 since motion controls seemed to go over well with it. Can guarantee as much shit motion controls get, these games didn't play nearly as well on GC as they did on Wii, and that's coming from someone who played both versions of them multiple times.
Options are nice, but so is not having to pay the premium of them adding extra controls when the best option is already available. The more Wii games they bring over that don't use the CC, the better the investment is of going out and buying a Wiimote/nunchuk.
We're not on Wii, we're on Wii U. The entire point of the new console is the screen in the controller. Without classic controls you have to play it on the main screen. In my case it is 90 inches big. 1080p and 720p look great, but 480p is like looking at a huge array of light bulbs.
Metroid Prime 3 incorporates extensive use of the Wiimote that frankly would be very hard to get working with another controller. DKCR, sure, but there's pretty much no way they could've easily added CC support to Metroid Prime Trilogy without a lot of effort, and clearly Retro was focused on their other projects, treating Trilogy like the collectors edition that it is.We're not on Wii, we're on Wii U. I'm not seeing it in the op....when? When is MPT available?
Metroid Prime Trilogy for $10 is madness.
Whoever doesn't buy this if they haven't played these games yet is a damn fool.

Wow, the system reboots on exiting?
So this is one of those half-assed implementations due to hardware limitations (like GBA games on the 3DS; too bad these aren't free Ambassador games to apologize for the Wii U price).
If you don't like the black bars (which are present because Wii/GCN games on the Wii U are scaled to 960p with simple pixel doubling) simply switch your system from 1080p to 480p before loading the games.
Here's a thing -- I see that there's now a "Shared Saved Data" file on my Wii U in the Galaxy files. Can I now delete the old saved data Wii-side, or do I need to keep that old save file?
Hmm could try backing the Wii save on an SD card and the delete it to see what happens. The WiiU file might just be a system config save or something.
That ship sailed when they elected to not include upscaling in the Wii U's Wii BC.It really is disappointing that they aren't at least being rendered at 720p.
They are literally iso dumps, and at least the convenience is there of just booting from WiiU mode, but the art of all three of the NA releases could have been so much more with a resolution boost.
To this day the best uses of DX7 caliber hardware ever seen. Toss in Skyward Sword and you've got perfect candidates for a resolution boost.

2. The Galaxy games simply outclassed 3D World. It's no contest. They are more fun, more imaginative, and the music is better.

This is just piggybacking off the hardware that's already there.
You both are right. They can't be ISO dumps of the originals, or else the Gamepad wouldn't work in select games. They must have patched in a new IOS (system software) into the game image in order for games to recognise the WiiU controller.
Plus they're running under hardware emulation, which rules out major changes.
You both are right.
It's just so damn disappointing after seeing what these games can be, even just rendered at higher resolutions with competent AA solutions, to think such impeccable artistic design is so consistently let down by less than adequate image quality.
